Fatimahj's Fushigi Yuugi Tv Review

Fushigi Yuugi

Rated: 9

Humour was first class, to me humour is an important part of anime...regardless of how serious the series is. I am usually irritated by how annoyingly fragile the female characters tend to be, while i am not expecting a butch female with a crew cut and bulging muscles, having one that does not have to share brain cells with a friend would be one hell of a surprise.

Kuroimisa's Fushigi Yuugi Tv Review

Fushigi Yuugi

Rated: 6

The anime is too long for its own good. Halfway through the anime when everything was meant to be finished (and you even hear the end theme rolling on) abruptly pulls to a halt, and reveals the ââ?¬Å?second halfââ?¬? of the journey, which takes too long, and it drags.

I found it unamusing and tedious to see that Miaka was so stupid to fall for the same tricks over and over again (youââ?¬â?¢d think that sheââ?¬â?¢d learn after the first few times) and it just really got onto my nerves. By about 3 quarters of the anime I wanted Miaka to just die, and Yui as well. They were both characters I just couldnââ?¬â?¢t empathise at all with. Tamahome seemed to be more admirable, but he too became just ââ?¬Å?another characterââ?¬?.

FarawayAdmirer's Fushigi Yuugi Tv Review

Fushigi Yuugi

Rated: 7

Now, Fushigi Yuugi was a decent anime. It was quite well done. However, there were a few problems with it. First, the theme of "I need to break up with you because I have to/ordered to, etc" was way overdone. It was good and fresh the first time. The second time, its okay. The third time is tolerable. Seriously. Also, it was for the same pair. The last 40 episodes were basically them breaking up and getting back together over and over again while the plot slowly crawls forward. The show was dragged much to far, farther than it should have gone. If they had cut out more of the unsatisfied love and shortened the series a bit, it would have been better. Also, the ending leaves the viewer...disappointed.

Bellaboo's Fushigi Yuugi Tv Review

To help you keep track:

-- 18 volumes of manga (translated by Viz). There are two arcs: 1-12 covers the first quest, and 13-18 is... well, weird and unexpected.
-- 52 tv episodes covering the first 12 volumes of manga
-- 3 First-OAV series that are completely random
-- 6 Second-OAV series based on manga volumes 13-18
-- 4 Third-OAV series based on... not quite sure what. Miaka spends most of her time unconscious, but do not rejoice, for she is replaced by a Mary Sue FAR worse than Miaka ever was. And who somehow is pregnant with Miaka and Tamahome's child. I'd feel sorry for her but she sucks so much, so I don't feel like investing the sympathy.
