Kikaruu's Serial Experiments Lain Tv Review

Serial Experiments Lain

Rated: 9

There are also homages to various real-life companies, such as BeOS, Apple, Palm, and Copland, among others. These touches solidify it's technological base, even if by today's standards, they're a bit dated. (For example, Lain's original Navi was a version of the Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh.) It's not product placement per se, but the influences and shout-outs are there, and it adds to the series, rather than detracts from it.

Audibly, it's informative. Oh, it's informative, and this can detract a bit. There's even an entire Layer (episode) devoted to background research, from the Memex to IPv6.

Daos' Serial Experiments Lain Tv Review

Serial Experiments Lain

Rated: 8

Lain may look like the type to pushover, but she has extraordinary power. She also might look like an average quiet character, but she is more smarter and softer.
The anime itself was great and I highly enjoyed watching it. I can't say this is the anime for everyone, but the creators did manage to get some different feeling about the show. If you're into sci-fi, great anime, and mystery this is the show for you! You could also somewhat call it horror, and not because Lain just stood by while it was happening in the earlier episodes.
There was also another weird scene when her sister went nuts, or the fact that Lain's dad bought her a lot of technology and her room became wired.

WGMelchior's Serial Experiments Lain Tv Review

Serial Experiments Lain

Rated: 8

Lain might not be an anime that everyone will enjoy, but if you like this type of intelectual entertainment, it's a perfect anime to start with. While a lot of similar animes and movies can be violent and scary, Lain is soft and touching while still maintaining a slightly unsettling and unfamiliar feel.

It has a overall feel which is different than most series, and it allows for a great deal of discussion with other viewers afterward. It's great to watch through the first time, but if you chose to watch it again, you'll pick up new details which makes it worth rewatching even if the big plot twists won't suprise you.
