Cosmic Era 71. A war is under way between genetically enhanced Coordinators and unmodified Naturals. The Natural-dominated Earth Alliance, struggling to catch up with the Coordinators' superior technology, has secretly developed its own Gundam mobile suits at a neutral space colony. Through a twist of fate, a young Coordinator named Kira Yamato becomes the pilot of the Alliance's prototype Strike Gundam, and finds himself forced to fight his own people in order to protect his friends.
Story & Characters
The story of Mobile Suit: Gundam SEED begins with the birth of George Glenn, a genetically enhanced human with superior
abilities. Coordinators, as they were called, lived in space colonies called PLANTs. However... unaltered humans, who
became known as Naturals, were jealous of Coordinators. One day, the Earth Alliance military force known as
O.M.N.I.(Oppose Military & Neutralize Invasion) launched a nuclear missle on the PLANT known as Junius Seven.
Enraged by the amount of lives lose, the PLANT military force known as Z.A.F.T.(Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty) went
to war against the Earth Alliance. Though it seemed likely that the EA would win by overwhelming forces, the
Coordinators were superior in both Mobile Weapons and pilots. The war eventually spread to the neutralORB Union known
as Heliopolis. 5 Prototype Earth Alliance Mobile Suits were sighted, and 5 elite ZAFT pilots were to capture them. Due
to an unforseen amount of circumstances, a student and coordinator named Kira Yamato finds himself in an EA mobile Suit,
called the Strike Gundam. He wishes to defend those he calls friends, but by doing so, must fight against his own people
AND his best friend, Athrun Zala. The story starts off very well, and grows deeper and fills with more conflicts.
Definately a 10.

Art
Like all other Gundam Series, Gundam SEED features beautiful mechs and machines fighting against one another with
colorful lasers and explosions and such. The characters are well detailed and the Mobile weapons and ships are all very
beautiful. The backgrounds in the many areas also do well in defining the areas that the characters travel throughout
the story. Animation is also very well done. Its really amazing to see the Strike destroy its first enemy Mobile Suit
with its combat knives. However, towards the end of the series there happens to be lots of repeats of animation. But
aside from that, the artistic style in Gundam Seed is sure to satisfy those with craving eyecandy.

Sound
The dialog in the series is excellent, to start off with. The original japanese voices, anyway... The background music
blends very well with each situation and the words that each character says are full of meaning and emotion, which adds
to the quality of the show. The Openings and Endings of Gundam SEED are all absolutely wonderful. The songs sung by
Lacus Clyne(Rie Tanaka as Voice Actor) are also very beatiful. My personal favorites are Invoke, Shizukana Yoru Ni, and
Anna ni issho datta no ni.

Presentation
Although Gundam SEED offers little to no humor, the battles and serious moments of the show are not to be missed. Each
character is extremely well developed in terms of emotions, personality, and what they feel about the war. As the
episodes go on, you only want to know what is will happen to certain characters or which couples form within the story.
The fights are beautiful and very well done. It does not matter if you are watching verbal fights between characters or
Kira slicing off the legs of the Duel Gundam, it leaves an imprint in your mind that wants more and more. As for
originality.... It starts off very similar to One Year War, but it evolves into something very unique. The story
becomes deeper and deeper, and is filled with many twists that keep your eyes glued to the screen. I assure you that
you will adore the series as soon as you see the Strike Gundam standing up for the very first time. Many of my friends
who have never seen a Gundam before fall in love with the series when they watch one of my Gundam SEED DVDS... The same
will also happen to you once you watch Gundam SEED Phase 1: A False Peace.
