Eve no Jikan tv Review

Story & Characters

Story Introduction
In the future , possibly Japan , Androids are now a common sight and is widely implemented across the nation.
Their used for chores like housekeeping and various other duties - but their very existence is treated harshly by some and it is a controversial issue in the media.
But in a cafe named "Time of Eve" - a single rule exists , a simple rule of which there are no discrimination between Androids and humans - a small establishment where people and Androids are treated as equals.

Story Overview
Ahh yes , another "crying plot" which would force the manly tears to roll out of your tear glands.
Eve no Jikan features the problems faced by the Androids in their daily lives and the humans whom had formed a bond with these Androids.
Whilst a generally simple plot , it features elements such as discrimination , selfishness , pride and whatever negative emotions we humans may feel - but it , too , features gentle bonds of which a character may feel for the other.
Even the protagonist is biased in his own way but the audience could see that he had changed as time passes on , being able to accept the fact that Androids do have a mind of their own and accepts the actions of his family Android , Sammy , whom visits the cafe often to spill her worries with the patrons of the cafe.

One can feel the subtle warmth surrounding this Anime because regardless of the discrimination of the common society , there is a place of which they could seek comfort and warmth from those whom shares the same fate.

However , a single episode for a single tale may prove to be too miserably short so certain stories may prove to be annoyingly short and the conclusion of the Anime feels a tad bit awkward as it feels as if the story was suddenly cut off.
The desire of wanting more from this Anime may incur some resentment and disappointment in the viewer as they may want to find out what would happen in the days to come.

Art

Artwork Review
I would not consider the artwork to be the best of the best - for it lacks the details and shadowing effects of Anime with better artwork but the simple artwork and color tones had somehow enhanced the "effect" brought about by the plot.
The artwork is particularly comfortable to look at owing to it's simplicity but it does feature amazing animations of which the characters are moving realistically with minimal exaggerations involved - save for the more comedic episodes.

However , the simplicity is reserved solely for the characters for the Anime does feature amazing background scenes with amazing lightning , textures but it does not cause the characters to look particularly out of place at the same time.

Essentially , the Anime had brought about a "smooth and comfortable" feeling as you would feel when you are in a cafe , gently sipping away at your coffee whilst observing the serenity of your surroundings - comfortable , stress-free and enjoyable.

Sound

Music Review
Well , it does seem that "comfort" is quite the theme in this Anime.
Essentially , the music allows the audience to feel quite at home but it also managed to bring out a mild "cyber-ish" feel to it , reflecting the fact that the plot takes place sometime in the near future.
Music is a common element throughout the episodes and they usually only play for a minute or so before the tune ends - but it is not as if the music is randomly inputted into the scenes - the tunes were set to enhance a particular moment , scenario , conversation or to "give a particular impression" to a character.

Presentation

This is a Review of Time of Eve
A surprisingly good Anime with tons of potential - but lacking the episodes to bring forth that potential in question.
It is a disappointingly short Anime and the story feels as it abruptly ends with an empty conclusion.

It's beautiful and relaxing to watch but the rushed plot and abrupt ending is one of the major elements which had butchered the overall value of this Anime.
The audience wants more - they desire to know what would happen next , what would happen between the protagonist and his Android and whether the tell-tale signs of romance would bloom - but snap , the Anime ends before you know it.

Genre : Drama , Comedy , Slice-of-Life , Sci-Fi

Comedy
Comedy is a recurring trait in this Anime - appearing from time to time and at unexpected moments.
The way the jokes are done was simply ingenious , comedy was used to allow to audience to develop feelings for the cast and it is ALSO used in unexpected scenarios - but surprisingly enough , it did not butcher the effect of the scene.

Drama
Whilst the Anime may have mainly featured the problems faced by the Androids - it had , too , featured the problems faced by the characters.
Each of these problems differs greatly from one another - ranging from how Androids were often discriminated in public to the bonds between an Android and their Master.

The Anime had accurately captured the hypocrisy and irrationality of human nature and had brought that to life in a single Anime of which the society treats the Androids as mere tools and how certain organizations are desperate to stamp out the use of Androids.
But the audience then views the selflessness of these Androids when they had abandoned their "mechanic personality" in the cafe , when they behave in a very human-like manner and is plagued with their own sets of worries.

Even the protagonist is biased - for his envious of the abilities of an Android and yet , he recognizes their musical talent.
His also afraid of what others might think of him and classify him as a "Dorei-kei" ( Android geek ) and yet , the audience can't really hate him since he slowly changes over time and had helped the other Androids whom patrons the cafe.

Touching Anime is touching , please allow me to sneeze into my hanky.

Trivia
- Apparently , there is a Movie for this but I haven't watch it yet.

in a way this sounds something like ghost in the shell, where android and human try to co-exist. I am not familiar with this one, but I have a feeling that it sounds interesting enough for me to venture out there and find it. I'm able to obtain anime in various ways now so it's not like I have to buy it anymore in order to watch it ;) I've seen a lot of plotless stuff that actually interests me, go figure. another great review, been wondering what you've been up to lately. was it VN or anime which had captivated your attention ;)

Maybe they're planning a sequel of some sort. But I wouldn't be surprised if they let it like this. With the open ending and all. I noticed it's how japanese studios work. Bummer

    So...this is...a tad bit late...

Anyhow, very nice job covering, and very briefly too! This one actually looks pretty interesting to me and different from the kind of shows I usually watch-and something about the artwork intrigues me- so I might get around to checking this out sometime. I might have liked to know a little bit more about the characters to get a feel for what I'm getting into, but since I haven't seen the series for all I know there might not really be much to say about characters. Regardless, nice job and I look forward to reading your next review! :)
