This is a good review. I really likd this OVA.
Red Garden ova Review
Story & Playability
The OVA begins about 300 years after the anime ends. As the girls can't age (due to reasons which would be considered spoilers), they all look the same as they did in high school. However, each character now looks a little different.
Rachel, who was once wild and crazy, has become more down-to-earth and, as Rose put it, "like an old lady." Rose is much more outspoken, which is clear when she calls what she thinks is a transfer student, "hot." Claire is a lot more girly but more laid-back. Kate, on the other hand, is much more serious now.
As far as fashion goes, Kate, who was once very quiet and unfashionable, is more mysterious now. Rachel has taken on the tomboy look, while Claire has managed to be the sexy one. Rose is much more cutesy, like a lolita-fashion doll.
Lise, reincarnated as an android named Louise, looks nearly the same as before, except her hair is more reddish-brown than light brown. She is very nice, but appears to be lonely. She admires the Dead Girls (Kate, Rachel, Rose and Claire) because they can live forever.
Herve (Edgar) once again goes after Kate, and Rose is still fearful.
The story has little to do with the original anime, and is much more futuristic, with android battles and less horror.

Graphics
The art is soft, but at the same level as the original. Still occasionally clashy, with some bright colors being out of place, it is still quite comforting. At times it can be a little dull, but very fluid still. The scenes tend to switch between soft, dull backdrops to vividly-colored rooms when scenes switch.
Aside from this, the characters all look different. Kate still has straight hair, but a different style of hair. Rachel's once reddish-blond, curly locks are now a short, blond ponytail on the op of her head. Rose's short, curly bob is now long and glamorous. Claire's originally silver/gray short hair is now a sexy, purple-ish longer bob with curled ends. They have all transformed tremendously, yet they still look 17. In a way, this is creepy but adds onto the story.
Some parts are imprecise and blurry, with little focus but it's still not so bad.
The purple shown through-out the OVA is very distracting to the point it can make your eyes hurt.

Sound
I have only seen the English dub, so keep that in mind.
All the voice actresses reprise their roles and play out their roles well... once again. We hear more of Lise's (Louise) voice actress, and it is obvious that she is very talented in her work. From her excited outbursts (about being obsessive over the Dead Girls) to her evilness towards Edgar (Herve in the original), she does it all. I especially like Rose's and Kate's voice actress here, who really had their chance to shine.
There is no opening theme song. The background music is more evident in this OVA, and the special effects are just as good as before. Just as realistic and normal as before, the special effects are done extremely well.

Fun
As much as I enjoyed the original, the OVA can never compare. The story is completely different, which is a bit of a let-down. However, I found it pleasant to see the characters alive even in 300 years. I have fallen in love with the characters so I enjoyed this a lot, too. However, the beginning is just a bit confusing. I was initially unsure of who the characters were or what was going on, and once I did found out what was going on, I started to miss the horror aspect. The OVA is more along the lines of the Solty Rei anime (which I love so much), and not at all what I was expecting.
