Plot Synopsis
Yuri Shibuya was living a pretty normal life. That changed the day he was dunked into a toilet after an attempt to save a classmate from a gang of bullies. Instead of just getting a good soaking, he's pulled in. The next thing he knows, he's in a world that vaguely resembles medieval Europe. If that's not odd enough, he's told that he is to be the next Maoh, just because he has black hair and black eyes. The Maoh is the King of the Mazoku, who are coexisting not-so-peacefully with the humans in this world. Much to his subject's dismay, he's totally different from the rulers they're accustomed to. He's kind, considerate, a believer in justice, and not willing to use violence to solve conflicts. Not exactly someone they want running a country on the very brink of war. Now, Yuri has to deal with trying to become a good Maoh, while at the same time attempting to adapt to this land's customs and culture, all in a world where the tension between the humans and Mazoku is reaching its peak.
Story & Characters
For those who likes bishounens, magic, humour and a bit of shounen-ai hints/jokes, this is the perfect anime. The title means from "from today, i am the demon king", so I don't have to tell you what is the main part of the story. The plot is that, Yuuri, a highschooler, tries to save a classmate from bullies and ends up getting sucked into another world and that he is actually the long lost king they have been waiting for. The rest of the story is about his meeting with many friends, including his fiancee, his bodyguard, his advisor and his head of the generals and a few interesting foes and his journey to make the other world a better place to live. This anime gets the first prize for the most interesting way of getting sucked, literally, to another world. The main characters are five guys with unique, cool personality and a characteristic that makes fun of them. Also, its not just the guys that grab our attention. The gals in this anime have strong personality and its hard not to find a favourite among them. There are moments when the story plot becomes overused but it grows on you. Overall, good story in the anime.

Art
One great thing about this anime are that there are so many good looking people. There are five main bishounens but more eye candies show up througout the series. The females in this anime, are either sexy or cute but they are all cool. This series is fantasy, so we see moments of magic, creatures and other fantasy effects. Despite the attractive set of characters and the interesting fantasy theme, the anime is not very high on the visual presentation for something created very recently. The background could use some works, the special effects are acceptable and the characters sometime looks derformed in some rare moments. The good looking characters (when they are not deformed) make up for this fault. So, you learn to accept it eventually. Overall, the visual presentaion is acceptable but it could be better.

Sound
The audible presentation is one thing that had no faults. The OP is "Hateshinaku tooi sora ni" and the ED is "Suteki na shiawase" by The Stand Up. They are both very catchy and fun to listen to. The BGM is perfect for whether its a cheerful moment or a tense moment. The Voices of this anime are some of the very well known Seiyuus including Sakurai Takahiro, Morikawa Toshiyuki, Inoue Kazuhiko, Saiga Mitsuki and many others who sound perfect for the characters they are supposed to represent. A great audible presentation of the anime.

Presentation
For an anime that has a plot of a character getting sucked into another world, you would think that "been there, seen fushigi/juuni". You cannot be anymore wrong. Originality is one of the reasons why this anime has so many fans. Also, there are too many shounen-ai hints for it to be shoujo, which makes me wonder why hasn't this been classified as BL. In the second episode, Yuuri gets engaged to another guy and the occasional ~moments~ between Yuuri and the other characters make you wonder who would he look good with. Even for those who would avoid this anime for this reason alone, the comedy is another good reason for it to become a favourite. From the first episode, the main character, Yuuri, keeps us amused with his dry sense of humour and his occasional slow-wittedness. There are many moments where the flaw of the other characters are made fun and they become your favourite. This emphasizes the fact that no character in this anime is perfect, no matter how much they seem to be. I have found no faults at all in this factor.
