Plot Synopsis
CLAMP's Sakura and Syoaran are back, but they're not the same characters we've come to know from Cardcaptors. This time, our pair is from the magical country of Clow, where Sakura is the beloved princess and Syaoran is a commoner working as an archeologist. He's tasked with exploring the ruins of Clow, which seem to hold magical power. Our two characters are destined for each other, but many perils lay in their path.
When visiting the ruins, Sakura is mesmerized and drawn into a strange gateway on the wall. Evil forces are at work and are trying to steal her away to another dimension. Syaoran prevents her from going, but in the process, scatters her feathers (representing her memories) across multiple worlds. With Sakura unconscious, Syoaran must travel to each world and recover Sakura's memories. Upon visiting the time-space witch, Syaoran is given two traveling companions, each with their own reasons for going on a journey between worlds. They are also given Mokona, a white pork-bun that allows them to communicate and travel between worlds.
Their journey begins here and many dangers await them on the road ahead.
Story & Characters
This can possibly be considered the grown-up version of cardcaptor sakura..the characters are more matured and the storylines are no longer simple and cheery as that of cardcaptor sakura's. Lasting only 26 episodes long, it may be rather short but it is enjoyable nonetheless. The story in the anime give us a general idea what exactly tsubasa is about and also how much different it is from cardcaptor sakura or any other famous works from clamp. In the anime, shaoran collects a few, around 4 to 5 of sakura's feathers only, and the anime ends there. From the very first episode, the anime can be considered rather captivating as it is straightforward and not repititive in storylines. Every single episode holds different surprises and even though syaoran may be going to different worlds with the very same aim...the events that happen in the different worlds are very interesting and facinating as well. Also, syaoran doesn't travel alone with sakura, they are given two companions and a very cute mascot as company. However, when they first met, it was at a powerful witch's house. She was the one who tell syaoran to travel in order t get sakura's meemories back, however in order to go on this jurney, they need to each give up something most important to them. Syaoran had to give up being in sakura's memories. One of their companions, Fye, who is a good magician had to give away his magic. Another companion, Kurogane, an extremely skilled swordsman had to give up his sword. It was after taking all these, that the magic witch was willing to help them on their journey. Overall, this anime may be a short one, but it is most definately worth your time. It is like one of the more grown up anime produced by clamp.

Art
the art in tsubasa is also different from the other clamp works i have seen. It
is still beautiful nonetheless...although i do think that the character's limbs
are a little too long..haha..also..there are times in the anime when i cannot
tell what was the supposed expression on syaoran's face...he can sometimes look
a little too expressionless..
but, on the overall, one can describe the art as rather majestic and detailed.
During their journey to the different worlds, clamp has taken into consideration
about the character's costumes. The charaters actually change costumes as they
enter different world's in order to fit in. They costumes are truly beautiful
and every one of the characters look very nice in them. The art of the
diffeernent world are captivating as well, it is drawn in such a way that you
can actually tell the difference in the different worlds they've been too and
they all will leave a lasting impression in you. The art of the weapons/ magic
thay use is beautiful as well. It is mysterious and mystic enough. The
transitions in colours are done quite perfetly. When the mood is dark and
dangerous, the colours used fit the mood nicely without overshadowing the
characters. Also, the it is in a happy mood of romantic mood, the colours used
in the background is suitable and brings out the feelings intented for the
audience. Thus, on the overall, the art in this anime is another one of clamps
good work. An anime well done...!

Sound
Music in Tsubasa...good...excellant...the songs in th anime is wonderful and are kinda classical. Most of them are slow and soothing music and also, many of them are sung by the voice actor of sakura-chan. Very nice vocals in most of the songs and i thoroughly enjoyed them all. The beginning and ending songs are rather typical though, it is like one can tell they are the opening and ending songs once they are being played. However, i highly encourage, those who are able to get their hands on the other music in tsubasa, to go get them and enjoy those melodious tunes. The voice acting are, in my opinion, suitable. Usually there is nothing much to complain if one has watched the anime in it original japanese voices as the voice acting are usually very good. So, no complains there...I personally like the voice acting for mokona and fye the most and also the song entitled : a song of storm and fire. Very nice!!

Presentation
The humour in tsubasa come mainly from Fye and Mokona. The group's maskot, Mokona is a very adorable bun-shaped creature with rabbit ears...mokona is more or less the main comic relieve in the whole series as she pairs up with Fye to tease about kurogane. Mokona can also be rather endearing at time too as she bounces from fye to kurogane and hides in their clothes during battles. Tsubasa is enjoyable as viewers tend to look forward to the next world they are travelling as the different worlds are truly facsinating. Viewers are to be prepared to some pleasant surprises along the way. The anime give one a pleasant feeling as the anime is not too stressful on the brain juice. It flows along smoothly with nothing too drastic and this makes the viewers being able to watch in a lean back manner. Very comfortable. The comcepts in the anime are very clearly put across as the storyline doesn't get too complicated. However, because the anime is so short, there are unanswered questions and this makes the veiwers hope for a second season or we would have to buy the manga to find out more.

Pretty good rating, I have to say. The anime's going to continue next Spring so I can't wait to see what else they have. The music, I agree, is really nice.
It's gonna last three seasons...
If that is the case, then the Sound section does not rate a 10. As a reminder, ratings of 10 indicate the pinnacle of human achievement and should be given when a series has attained an unsurpassed level of achievement in the particular category and as such cannot be given lightly. As a result, your score for Sound has been decreased by one to 9.
yup, thru 2007! i agree with much of your review (especially the music!
), tho
i think a 10 for the story is a little high... maybe a 9? (and i think Mokona is
a 'he'...
) overall, great review!
reminds me of pokiemon...when the elemental things fight...
10 for story.....?
what the hell ? well every people thinks different right....
but still a good review
The music is a must have. A very nice soundtrack.
The music is indeed wonderful, but the anime will last for 2 more seasons, it doesn't end after ep. 26. Season 2 will start in April 2006. You might want to update that.
thanks for reading my review and all of your comments..!
It doesn't end in ep 26. The frist season end there the second season is not available yet.
....i think you gace the story abit too high...it is not very original if you ask me...but nice review! =D nicly done!
Nice review! You make it sound very good, even though...I didn't like the series very much
It was kind of boring
Good luck with future reviews
Nice review - Clamp art always attract me. @__@; But the limbs are very long ... and strange looking. Good work.
its good to see a review that actually does justice to what its reviewing once in a while ne?
This is a very nice review! =]
I also loved the music for the anime very much. I think it fit the anime perfectly. ^-^
u exaggerated a lot but in the end you did a nice correct review except that sound, you dont rate it a 10 if you dont like it
but I LOVE UR REVIEW! Must have taken u forever
hhmmm..did my review on the music make it sound as though i did not like it? actually i loved it alot...haha...thanks again for all your coments! i shall review other anime next time..!
I think to really appreciate Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle, you have to watch Card Captor Sakura first, and to be somewhat knowledgeable in other CLAMP stories (as they frequently make their appearances throughout the story). But the story, the music, the characters, the art... everything is brilliant! I think it sucks though for how long we have to wait for the series to actually end.
Season 1 ~ April-October 2005
Season 2 ~ April-October 2006
Season 3 ~ April-October 2007
And just imagine not having torrents!
yeah i totally agree...3 tears...gosh...
It have a nice plot and the artwork is pretty. The soundtack is very good. TRC is not, how can I say it, heavy..? the story is light with funny moments here and there. But I prefer the manga over the anime.
Tsubasa is a good work, many works of clamp are good n_n
Although i didn`t watch it yet bt after reading your review, i really wanted to know how they went through the journey! Good Job!
wow...i made such an impact? haha...that was a good boost of confidence...thank you so much..do support my other reviews k?
I haven't had the opportunity to watch the anime yet, but I'm full into the manga right now. I'll definitely watch the anime when I get the chance to, it sounds pretty darned good by this review!
