Plot Synopsis
Fuu, a 15 year-old girl, is working part-time job at teahouse when one day meet 2 customers who ends up fighting each other and burn the teahouse to the ground. The two young samurai: Mugen and Jin were arrested and about to be executed, because the fire caused one of the government's son killed. On the day of execution, Fuu saved them and in return asked them to make a promise that they would make a journey with her in order to look for a "Samurai with a scent of sun flower". Synopsis by: Niomea
Story & Characters
Basically Samurai Champloo consist of 3 character of the series. Mugen, Jin, and Fuu. Mugen is the "Eager to do anything" Type person. He doesnt just let anybody stand in his way, and when he see's a fight, he wants in! He never considered worrying about anybody elses feelings, just himself. The only reason he tagged with the other 2, is so he kill jin at end, with a final battle to death! (and plus he prolly had nothing better else to do!!) Now Jin has the opposite personality of mugen, but his killing mentality is about the same. Jin is always laid back, very non-chelant about everything. If mugen were to get into a fight, Jin would always be in the background, looking without a care in the world. The only way Jin retalliates, is when Jin is being threatend. Even when that happens, Jin shows no emotion over it. He just solves the problem with a straight face. Jin tagged with the other 2 for the same reason as mugen's. To kill mugen in a final battle (and to help fuu). Next comes Fuu. Fuu basically came out of nowhere, working at a resteraunt where she met Mugen first, then Jin afterwards. Fuu is more of the "Damsel in Distress" character. She is always getting into trouble, and claims jin and mugen as her bodygaurd. She also uses them so they can help her find the "Sunflower Samurai" so she can hit him upside the head when she does! Fuu is the one too make sure mugen and jin do not kill each other before her goal is reached. But later in the seires, Jin and Mugen calm down from fighting each other early, and decide to help each other (but still keeps the evil looks on their faces thinking theyre going to attack each other in their sleeps).

Art
Now of course the show is going to be detailed and beautiful if theyre the same makers from Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain. The fighting scenes are really the best parts of the art, and shows how well the two fighters prove themselves. Basically the creators try to bring back the "Edo" years with a mixture current times. The way the characters are dressed and how theyre traditions are, are back in the day, but the way that they act, and talk, are mostly todays Culture. Mugen acts out of todays world, and Jin acts out of Back in the day tradition.

Sound
Now this is where the show brings out a mixture of EDO and todays world life. The music is about 75% Hip-Hop type genres. The show design also reminds you of graffiti type series. But of course they do use the tradition Asian type songs, to stay focused with the EDO. But the hiphop brings out a creative stlye to the series. With producers like Fat Jon, Nujabes, FORCE OF NATURE, and Tsutchie, the music production and sound effects come out perfect to make this series one of the best samurai shows yet

Presentation
This is what really blows you away! the presentaion is more creative than any other show. Like I said, it brings a graffiti look which adds stlye to the series, and also brings in a "DJ" type transition when it switches to different scenes. Especially the fighting. You'll be very excited when the fighting happens. But get me wrong. The show is not always serious. In fact most of the time its more funny than serious( kinda like episode 23. had me laughing!!!)! Mugen doesnt always do things the right way, which makes it humorous. Including Jin, he doesnt always get away with logic and laid back stlye, which makes it even more humorous like "I was waiting for Jin to mess up on somthing lol!" Theres also mild sexual content. sometimes they do it cause its funny, or if theyre teling a traditional story to prove a point. Theres also an episode with a homesexual event involved (which kinda threw me off cause i wasnt expecting something like that!) But other than that, this is the type of show, I would schedule everytime it comes on.

Awsome presentation. Keep it up
oh~~ that's great review~ I like Samurai Champloo.
Very nice review. That would probably be the score that I would have given it. It's already become one of my most favorite animes.
Great review, but the story/character might have been better if there was more description of the story rather than all on the characters. ^^ And I'd like to add, on the outside, Jin and Mugen seemed not to care, but I think deep down, they've all gotten so used to each other that they probably do care a bit..sometimes they're just a bit ignorant to say so. ^^
It was a really great anime, very different from the normal stuff you see. It does have a mixture of traditional culture vs modern culture, which is one of the interesting things about this anime. I'd probably have given about the same rating ^^ so well done!
Excellent review!
I
love the way you described the characters and the sound. Mugen and Jin are the
exact opposites (like black/white, friends/foe)

I love the sound FX in this series also
Very nice review, I'll give you a 9.9/10. Good job!
