Plot Synopsis
Tsukamoto Tenma has long been keeping her love to her schoolmate, Karasumaru, a secret until one day she heard that Karasumaru is going to move within a month. Feeling desperate Tenma tries any possible way to reveal her feelings to Karasumaru, aided by her little sister Yakumo, and fellow classmates.
On the other side, a young delinquent Harima Kenji falls in love to the seemingly innocent Tenma, but all his attempts have been failing at all times. Would Tenma finally realize Kenji's hidden feelings? Would Tenma's burning love reach the cold and flat Karasumaru? School Rumble follows the funny adventures of Tenma and Kenji with their love confession trials, misunderstandings, and laugh-able desperate measures of teen romance.Story & Characters
School Rumble or also know as sukuran, it is one of the most unexpected anime I ever watch. I didnt know what I was getting into, from the name i thought it was those school fightning show like tenjou tenge. Boy was I suprised when I watch it. If there is a genre that fit school rumble description, I would say it is RANDOM. Everything is just so random on the anime, it was so funny when the Initial D car suddenly appear and there are plot twist here and there and the characters do the most unexpected stuff.
Each episode is divided into 3segment, like azumanga daioh. This is where the similarity between azumanga daioh and school rumble stop. They dont have a main plot in azumanga daioh, it is more focus to their everyday school life while in school rumble we know that the main plot are focused on Harima and Tenma.
In episode 1, we found out that Tenma actually like Karasuma while Harima like Tenma. In each episode we are treated with them screwing up their confession or their hilarious antics. But it is when the other characters are introduced or developed is where school rumble really shine. Yakumo, Eri, Mikoto, Akira ,Imadori or Hanai each of them are equally important to the story.

Art
The animation is simple and clean. No fancy CG or any special effects. The drawing for the characters is very good. They are very faithful to the manga style. For a light hearted comedy show like this, animation of this quality are quite sufficient.
The style of the characters are change during certain important scene to show their thought. For example, the Tenma in Harima mind are so womanly compare to the real Tenma. Or when Harima took of his shirt during the beach trip. Great visual presentation there.

Sound
The OSTs are quite good too. If I am not wrong, they are 8 image album for school rumble. We have Tenma, Yakumo, Mikoto, Eri, Sara, Ichijou, Akira and Harima image album. Each of them contain songs that are play in certain part of the show. My favourite song is probably best friend which is play on episode 19.
And the seiyuu really do a great job here too. Especially Yakumo, the seiyuu really portray her soft spoken and shy attitude well. Yui Horie which sang the OP is also the seiyuu for Eri. Basically all the seiyuu here did a good job.
Plus, the OP/ED really set up the mood for the show. They are just so wacky and zany.

Presentation
I gotta to the humor 10/10. This is the funniest show I have watch since azumanga daioh. There is just so many pun and 1liner joke that will sent you to a big laugh.
Usually in a love comedy, we roughly know who is gonna end up with who. But here, it was a love triangle at the start, then Yakumo and Eri enter it and it become a love-hexagon.
Romantic high school comedy are done to death before. But school rumble presentation and wacky idea are so refreshing that I cant help praising it. And the parody are so funny, there are parody from initial d to matrix.
The enjoyability is 10/10 too. This is the only 2nd anime where I have watch twice after Azumanga Daioh. When your down and need something to cheer you up, this is the right anime to watch. Highly recommended!! And I am crossing my finger for a 2nd season. If the preview for ep27 are any indication, 2nd season would be animated soon when the manga have enough material for them to make it. Such a great show deserve a continuation and a proper ending.

Well, I think you did a quite nice review, but I must say that you should explain the story more in the "Story" part, I understand all the chara names cos I watched the show already, but what you did was mentioning how you think about the story and not really telling the plot ><
I wouldnt want to spoil the story by telling the plot. A lot of the joke will lose it meaning if you know what will happen.
It is possible to give a description of the story without ruining the anime.
Also, giving the story and presentation a 10 is a bit high.
Yeah, School Rumble is an awesome anime, despite the fact that it really doesn't have a story.
School Rumble was good ^_^ I enjoyed it muchly.
The opening theme is so much fun ^_^
school rumble has deeper elements and story than visible at first glance. yieloon has seen it twice, and has done a really good review.
