Z827's RahXephon Tv Review

RahXephon

Rated: 7

This is a Review of Rahxephon
Other than the fact that the Anime had the feeling of being a "forced philosophy" Anime, the concept itself, the music, the interesting relation between the protagonist and the heroine and most of the side-characters really did save this series from plummeting into failure.
The entire series was something which you'd grow to dislike and love at the same time, filled with plenty of flaws but with enough strengths to pull you right back into the entire series itself and balance the whole series out.
Whilst it is filled with flaws, it's not something your likely to forget anytime soon.

As I said in the beginnig this show was supposed to surpass Evangelion. Fortunatelly it wasn't good enough to do so. Rahxephon is also not so popular today although it should, due to good plot and very good art. It's also one of those shows in which single watching is not enough to fully understand the topic and all other stuff. Rah teaches huge variety of things. It shows that love not always occurs between people in the same age. Also it proves how humane can be foolish when it comes to developing and moving to another stage of evolution (well just another connection to EVA...) Moreover I'm sure if EVA never happened to be released this show would be number one for me. It's really tremendous how people in Japan can spread so "already used" topic and bring the whole new breath to it.

Art, animation, music, sound, characters and story all meld together beautifully and the result is a wonderful anime. It is obvious the amount of time, care and determination the creators poured into this series. Everything about it screams "deep" or "artistic" or "poetic." RahXephon is simply a beautiful anime.

The official age rating is "TV14." As far as content goes; there are a few freak-outs, a few "violent" mecha battles, and one or two of each violent (involving humans) and nude scenes. I don't have any objections to the official rating although I think in general a 14 year old might not understand everything going on in the story.

No, there's nothing simple in RahXephon. Nothing is clear or straighforward, except the fact that there's more than the eye meets. You've got to pay attention, or you'll miss insignificant details that migh give you the keys to the greater misteries. I have to admit, I love the kind of anime that makes you think, that keeps you alert. If this is your dish, then go ahead. You won't regret it. Nothing I'd say can actually describe the experience per se.

I watched this show in a few hours. Just couldn't get up my chair. After I was done (and left with a very satisfied smile) I let it rest for a couple of days and went all over it again. And I liked it even more, if possible. If that alone is not enough to speak for RahXephon, then I don't know what else could.

The presentation of the characters, and the subtle presentation of their past really makes the whole series utterly captivating. You get to know each character, and their defining pasts. The series isnt what I'd call original in idea considering its another mecharobot anime, but there is a lot more to it than just that. Unlike Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Gundam Wing, the robot part of it is actually a lot more of an overtone instead of the mainstay of each episode. Usually the battles are brief and dont dominate the episodes. The humor in each episode is cute, its not side wrenching funny, but its good for a chuckle now and then. Its got some slightly innuendo based humor in it but its not forced. In fact the conversations and interactions with amongst the characters is fluid.

The movie is fun to watch, esspecially if you're a fan of the series because it's not just a summary of the series, it's a retelling of it with many new twists and differant plot developments. The material is presented to the viewer cleanly through usage of character mood changes, scenary/color tone changes, and music changes. When something is about to happen, you're aware of it via those three aspects. The material is also presented to the veiwer without confusing the heck out of the viewer. It's all pretty much a clean-cut story from begining to end. Though, the end of the series many leave you asking a few questions, the movie's ending is much clearer and less vague.
The movie just hits the two hour mark. That's pretty long for an animated feature based on a series.

Ultimaslair's RahXephon Tv Review

This series, as I said before, has a lot of orignality. Of course, just like almost all otehr series, there are a few "borrowed" plot points in the series. Overall though, the series is very original. The characters personality of going through what no other teenage kids normally go through, and how it is represented is really original. At times, you sit there yourself thinking about how you've said certain things before when you were mad or sad. This is not just another "mecha anime" as some might think it is.

Another twist in the story, is the two worlds involved. The human world, and Mulian world. Mulians being what the humans are trying to defend themselves against.
