Overall I would have to say this was quite a tough one to follow. There was just too many time jumps for me to keep track of their space adventures at times. I actually found myself pausing and rewinding in places, trying to figure out if my dvd player had skipped a scene or something. I would state this anime, not the one that debuted on cartoon network in the edited style, is seriously not for the faint of heart. If ecchi, mature scenes, cussing, detailed battle scenes and perverted characters disturb you, then it's best to avoid this one. I would consider this one to be watched by audiences mature enough to handle such things, I wouldn't set my niece down in front of this one and watch it with her without a doubt.

The presentasion was awesome. It is perhaps the most well rounded anime ever and offers something for everyone- action, humor, and sex appeal (I wont lie). This series should have been countinued as planned, but a poor OAV was made and hasn't been heard from since. But overall this anime was awesome and should be seen by anyone who enjoys any kind of action, or anyone who wants to see what motivates some people to become addicted to ainime is like. This was a very fun series and is a shame that few will be able to see something quite like this agian. I was acctually wondering if there was a continuation, but rumors and little else are all that I have heard.

So, what makes the series so great? While Outlaw Star incorporates a lot of the many cliches of the typical sci-fi animes, it presents it so well that in the end the viewer won't even care. I think that this series was overshadowed due to the close time release of Cowboy Bebop. This anime has all the qualities of a good anime, with plentiful action sequences, many comedic moments, and charismatic characters. While the story may seem simple, it allows the story to progress smoothly along. The Outlaw Star crew and its journey to the Galactic Leyline is definitely one hell of a ride.

Perhaps the most appealing aspect about Outlaw Star is its incredible action sequences. he mechanical designs are the best I have seen yet and the ship-to-ship battles are very impressive. Fans of action should definitely not pass this series up, because the fighting is awesome. All of the characters have a distinct fighting style and weapon, so the action never gets stale. Another thing that makes it so enjoyable is that for all the action there is always some complementary comedy. Whether it’s one of Genes wisecracks or some senseless bickering between him and Jim Hawking, it is always laugh out loud funny and really adds to the experience.
