There are a few points that lower the quality of this series. First, certain scenes seem fake and artificial, and the way certain characters just 'happen' to be at the right place and at the right time for the right thing to happen becomes quite irritating at one point. Also, I've never been able to understand how did soldiers belonging to different factions manage to communicate through radio. I mean, it would seem logical for them to use separate channels, right? That didn't make sense. Some characters were characterized in detail, while others were not characterized at all, like the three pilots of the Earth Alliance's new units. I truly think there was more to them than those "Annihilate! Obliterate! Kill!" sort of lines. Same goes for Orb's pilots (the three girls).

The overall presentation was well done. The series was overall enjoyable and I was able to udnerstand everything on the first try. I didn't have to spend 20 mins trying to figure out what one person meant. Transitions flowed smoothly and each moment was never dull. Despite long portions of talking, I actually enjoyed it. The battle scenes were great except for their talking to much while fighting. Besides its not like they can really talk to each other because they are using different communiation lines. So pretty much they are talking to a ghost. Seems weird, but interesting because of what they say.

Lots of good things about this series... the story, characters, and music... The OP/ED and insert songs are a couple of the best i have ever heard... the storyline IS the best i have ever come across.. and with the abundance of characters that are well developed to help support the story.
I finished all 50 episodes in one week...and I immediately started to watch the sequel to the series.. I had SO much fun watching the series.. Easily considered to be one of the best series i have EVER seen.. The music got me INTO watching the series.. and the STORY and ChARACTERS KEpT me into the series..
The only negative aspect of the series would be the animation or lack of it.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED started to AIR in TV TOKYO in 2002 and ended year after in september 03. Series become very popular because of joinfull topics concluded and because of the last series of G( Gundam Wing 1995) was a little crap and teenagers didn't enjoy it much. SEED is different, variety of characters, mechanics, plot animation and SOUND are strongest points of this anime. SUNRISE created a continuation of SEED - SEED Destiny but it's not even a half that good as SEED because of similar topics and charackters, most of them are the same from SEED, same goes to MECHA (Freedom, Strike Rouge aso..). If you really want to watch good mecha anime buy SEED DVDs and watch this anime carefully, it's just great ....

Originality- I found that the idea of having gundams or robot machines piloted by humans involved in the storyline a
highly used topic in many animes. But, the concept of having mankind go to war over the creation of a race of humans
with the ability to process higher levels of thinking and comprehension, as well as efficiency, struck me as a very
well-rounded, original and realistic topic.
Humor-Though this struck me as something that was meant to be more of an angsty, sad and desperate anime, I found it to
be humorous at times. For example, the introduction of the mob of Haros was very humorous for me; especially when Lacus
drew a moustache on one of them, and told the rest of them that the "one with the moustache is it!".

Make no Mistake, this Anime is NOT original. The story is very similar to other anime seriers, including other Gundam series. Part of what i Do like about this Anime is that it is not oh so overly focused on the action. This anime also includes considerable focus into the mindsets and emotions of the characters, making for a good bit of Drama(humor is very limited in this series, its not a comedy). Unfortunately though, the characters are not that original either, with the exception of Flay, all other characters including the main character Kira fit into a certain anime or other story archetype, so despite good focus on them, there is little originality. I also personally disliked the ending to this anime, it seemed very abrupt and left some things unresolved it seemed for me.

Although Gundam SEED offers little to no humor, the battles and serious moments of the show are not to be missed. Each character is extremely well developed in terms of emotions, personality, and what they feel about the war. As the episodes go on, you only want to know what is will happen to certain characters or which couples form within the story. The fights are beautiful and very well done. It does not matter if you are watching verbal fights between characters or Kira slicing off the legs of the Duel Gundam, it leaves an imprint in your mind that wants more and more. As for originality.... It starts off very similar to One Year War, but it evolves into something very unique.

The overall presentation of the show is good they included alot of unexpected suprises and turn of the table. "This series is truely one that has interesting twists and turns and seems to always have new things that will hit you out of no where. Character deveolpement is something that Gundam Seed seems to have plenty of... the characters are involved in various relationships and seem to not care about 'fighting' in general compared to some other series."-- gundam seed.net. Gundam seed is very original and very humorous in some ways. But it is more about battle and the concept of ethical and morality issues.

Gundam Seed's originality is satisfactory, with most dramas not seen in many other animes. To me, its kind of like dumping every single drama you've seen in every anime into one. The drama is well-played and the characters progresses alot during the series. But what makes Gundam Seed alittle boring is the lack of humor. Some episodes did make me yawn. The only thing that makes Gundam Seed interesting is the exciting dramatic battles. Other then that, it can be quite boring. And at times, the series can get quite irritating with their constant flashbacks and some episodes are even dedicated to replaying the scenes in the previous episodes, making some episodes practically useless to watch if you're a regular to the series. Hence, for the presentation, i would give it a 7.

To talk about the originality of the stolyline, Gundam Seed base storyline is similar with Gundam 0079 : One Year War, but Gundam Seed have something different from other Gundam story, just like i've said before Gundam Seed doesn't concern only in the war but also concern with the characters too. Gundam Seed clearly show the mental condition of the character and of course make the audience know how the character feel, how sad the character, how hurt the character and so on.
