Ninasun100's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Ova Review

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Rated: 4

This movie was by far the worst of its years. Just to plainly say it out: I did not like it. At all(Hate is a very strong word...). This movie is 90% violence, and the 10% was Cloud's problems.

WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR NEEDS, CLOUD!

The fighting scenes happened too fast and too inhumane for the human eye to actually take it all in. The producers treat all the characters as if they were gods, and thus make them very un-realistic.

I know this review was short, but there's nothing much to say when all you can pinpoint are the bad points.(Please don't complain to me if the score is too low for your liking)

Hopefully, if they make another movie, they can fix their mistakes and make a better, more complete movie.

Boojitsu's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Ova Review

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

The actual movie itself was a great thing for fans of the game. The movie, though, spawned an almost undeniable franchise frenzy of FFVII gear, spinoffs, and teasers. The movie was great, but I don't want to see Sqaure-Enix start to lose it's edge by trying to mimic ffvii for the rest of it's career life. But things unrelated to the movie aside, I think the use of humor, in a few circumstances, did brighten the mood and made the watcher, for those who are familiar with the FF series and FFVII game, feel almost like you were visiting a familiar land. The fights, music, voices, and details were great. I only wish it was bigger and the story was a little more complex and iintricate.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Overall the entire ride was rather short but very much worth the watch none-the-less. This maybe just because I'm studying 3D and design in my classes that I found watching this movie over-and-over again worth it. Just seeing 3D animation of this quality in an action movie truly states that soon enough we may just have no need for physical actors anymore, just voice. Detail wise was very good. Cloth acted like cloth, metal acted like metal, no random jumps or anything. The animation was flawless and was the high point of this movie. Given that this is not for everybody. People set for story-wise will be lost right away if they didn't properly understand the video game. Certain elements of this movie require you know key events in the past game.

You should by now be able to tell that I am satisfied with the movie. I was anxious that I would once again be disappointed (as I was by The Spirits Within) but I was not, not at all actually.

The movie began very beautifully with Red XIII running, and soon I was dragged into the story and taken on one hell-of-a-ride for approximately 1,5 hours. The movie both had serious moments (flashbacks of Aeris etc.) and humorous moments (Reno anyone?), which I think is great, since it brings the essence of FF to the moviescreen. The Spirits Within was not a very humour-filled movie and was, well how shall I say it, a plague to watch with the lame story and boring characters.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Overall, this movie was decent to watch. Its a great movie to see when you have about 1.5hrs of spare time. I fully recommend you go watch it purely because of the graphics. For fans, you'll have an awesome time re-living the whole thing over and over.

Seriously, I can't seem to get worked up about the significance whole team of FF characters coming back together for a heart-warming battle with a giant monster. It just doesn't work when you don't even know the names of the people.
I hardly knew that Aerith died until the end when the showed her with a guy with crazy hair, and that was only after they showed some heaven disappearing sequence.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

I would highly recommend this OVA for those who played the games, however the only way to get it is fansub or buy the limited DVD, but I wouldn't say that the OVA is worth that much. It was quite enjoy to see it, however I would have loved to see everyone in an animation form. However, if you didn't play the games, you wouldn't understand any part of the OVa or enjoy it as much, since you're are just thrown into the action without any introducion. You have to know some part of the characters' background or you'll wonder why is that so important, or why was that person so well-respected by others.

It was indeed funny to see how normal soldiers wouldn't stand up to SOLDIERS in 1st class, and the riviality with soldiers and the Turks. Those were the only few light hearted moments.

Destati's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Tv Review

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Rated: 6

As I mentioned above, Advent Children really is just a bunch of fanservice for FF VII's fanbase. If you haven't played FF VII before, you are out of this movie's target demographic. However, the fight scenes are still incredible, and the movie is still enjoyable (because really, you're not watching this for the story). If you have played FF VII before, though, Advent Children is a fun romp that revives one of the most beloved games of all time. There're lots of little easter eggs for Final Fantasy fans to find.

One complaint that I have is that I wish the Turks played a bigger role. The humerous moments in Advent Children really only come in two forms: first, recognizing things from FF VII or other little easter eggs that bring joy to a fan of the series.

Soredtherose's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Tv Review

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Rated: 4

If you are not a Final Fantasy fan, then this film is just special effects and one battle after another. There is not that much in the way of humour, which is almost a shame, because the funny parts are actually quite funny.

Must of the laughs are provided by two agents from the Shinra company. One looks like he walked straight out of The Matrix, with his bald head and sunglasses. His partner has loud red hair, which really stands out in the film, since everybody either has silver hair, or "natural" hair colours like black, brown and blond. These two guys are always getting into trouble, and they act like two stooges for much of the film.

There's not really that much romance in the film.

NegativeBahamut's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Tv Review

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Unfortunatly there are some factors that will lower the score from the start. It s a secuel. The music was there before. At least most of it was. The characters we know. Well, most of them. But at least there not trying to be a Matrix clone like so many other movies out there. What action flick doesn t have Bullet-time now? This one. But it has a lot of originality in it, for a secuel. New enemies, new plot twists, and the fact the first one was a game. But it is what it is, and nothing else, unlike Wrongfully Accused. And if you enjoy action, this film is for you. If you enjoy story deph, this film is for you. If you enjoy crazy, over the top excitement, this flim is for you. Especially if you played FF VII.
