MapleRose's Diamond Dust Drops Tv Review

Diamond Dust Drops

Rated: 8

I think this is the greatest strength of the series. I love how it's set up like a series of short stories, connected with a common theme, and tied up at the end. It is ordinary at first glance in terms of plot and characters, but I found it special because of the emotional impact it has, and how I am able to relate to the stories (yes I cried a lot, get some tissues ready). It's not for those who like action/adventure or fast-paced stories, but if you're into drama and slice-of-life romance, and want something sweet and touching, then I definately recommend it.

For the presentation of this series, I would have to say that I was quite impressed at how much the producers fit into twelve episodes. The plot of six women related to the tale of Diamond Dust has to be touching as well, since the difference in situations provide space for everyone who watches it to be affected by at least one of the stories.

As I have said before, however, the story itself is hardly developed, and needs a better closure, as well as some more developement with the characters' pasts.

This series is able to have many genres, though, as I found light humor, friendship, drama, romance, and slice-of-life, which created a nice balance that gave off a good feeling.

It is rare that an anime can provide a coherent story in just one or two episodes. Every story is fast-paced, but also admires the beauty of the surrounding places and scenic spots. It is after all paying homage to the 'travelling game'. Each story has its own levels of humor, romance, and melodrama. And I enjoyed each one up until the end. The last episode shows all the girls in one city (Sapporo), some intertwining with one another, and then finally enjoying their first experience with the diamond dust.

There are also two characters who show up in cameos, randomly in each girl's story, it's kinda funny to see them. In the last episode we know their names and their own little story. It's very nice. Actually, this anime is very nice overall.

A recommended watch.
