SeijakuF's Azumanga Daioh Tv Review

Azumanga Daioh

Rated: 8

As said before, this show brings very little new to the genre. However, it makes a good use of the one-shot theme and manages to build a strong line it follows- even when there's no clear "goal" in the episodes. The episodes are different from each other but there is a lot of repetitive stuff; the girls spend their time mostly at school. Towards the end we get to see more deeper relationships and even some new settings but sometimes I feel like there should be more places to spend freetime than Chiyo's gorgeous home (or summerhouse). My favourite episodes are in the end when emotions are shown more freely and conversations get deeper. The humor never disappears though and it makes me smile in every episode.

Azumanga Daioh

Apparentally there is no plot be because it's a comedy but failed miserably as a comedy.

Azumanga Daioh at its best it is mildly amusing.

eps 1-5 are so boring it's sleep-inducing, gets better towards 15 but still some boring eps along that way.

This anime relies on "lame" childish jokes (very simple, possibly stupid, easy jokes that aren't funny to me anyways) and cuteness. Cuteness just doesn't work all that long even if it is Chiyo-chan.

Most of the jokes were lame in my opinion. sometimes it was executed so slowly I knew what it was and even if I didn't predict it it's still not funny. It's paced very slowly, there are lots of silent moments with the characters just standing there and staring after some "joke" and whatnot.

While somewhat lacking a true concept, Azumanga Diaoh is one of the few series that isn't overly hurt by not having one. The humour, while sometimes over the top and repetitive, is almost always guaranteed to make you crack a smile or have a good laugh. The characters are endearing without being drama magnets or super powered dynamos. This is a show that could almost serve as a vacation from other anime, something to pick up after you just got through the more heavy offerings like Eva or the like.

I really had fun watching the whole series.. There were just a couple of really.. really random episodes.. but that just helped explain the character more.. This show is hilarious.. and probably could be watched out of sequence.. or individually.. its practically straight up comedy.. and it does a terrific job with no great visual or audio help.. The series presents itself with simple soundeffects and characters, but expands on their simpllicity to create some very amusing moments. This series is all about the character development and storyline, while being flooded with comedy.

I think this really coupld pass off as a classic.. This set like the standard for all school comedies.. ie school rumble.. gokujou setokai.. There is a lot of rewatch value too..

For the purpose of this review, I will rename the "presentation" category to the "Aa! factor." Much like the terrior* of a good wine, Azumanga has what I can only call the Aa! factor. Simply put, this trait allows the series to transcend all normal judgement processes, and gives name to the inherant charm of the series. It is very difficult to hate or strongly dislike this series because of Aa!, since almost everyone can identify with at least one (or more) characters or situations. The only reason to really hate Azumanga is for the sake of hating Azumanga.

Azumanga is Azumanga. The only way to describe Azumanga(n.) is by saying it is Azumanga(adj.

The presentation for this anime is very good. Its full of surprising events, each with its own little subplot. There is no great main storyline, which makes the anime something you can watch over a period of time. I wasnt ever left with any 'edge of my seat', 'must watch next episode' feeling which is a nice break from the usual dramatic anime which sometimes i feel I have to watch all in a day. The presentation of the days events loosely follows a typical schoolday and evening and then interaction between the characters sometimes produces a deep thought but usually leaves you chuckling at their strange and humorous antics. This is mostly a watch-once anime as there isnt anything deep or significant you'd miss if you watched it only once. Its very light, and a very refreshing series.

Azumanga Daioh

Azumanga Daioh has its own originalinity in the way the jokes and puns are designed. Well, most of them are langauge-puns (Japanese, for sure.) So if you're seeing it, make sure you get it from a reliable fansub. Also, the things the charaters do are very hilarous, in a way that doesn't need words to describe, just SEE and LAUGH. It is very funny and when each episode is over, it just makes you want to see the next one immediately. It's a little too sad that there's only 26 episodes, I'm sure that there's much more jokes left in the closet to continue though. (Actually, the author of already-finished Auamange Daioh is currently working on a new series called "Yotsubato!" or "よ&!".) Anyway, contained in these 26 episodes is a package of the happy stories of the group.

Hachiko's Azumanga Daioh Tv Review

Azumanga Daioh

Rated: 10

When I first heard about Azumanga Daioh in 2003, I didn't know how popular a series like this was in Japan. How do six young schoolgirls, who look cute and adorable no matter what their age, make a significant impact on how we see things? The big answer: watch it unfold!

Once I had seen the first episode, the addiction started to come about. As time went on, I came to appreciate the many key elements of the show, and how the pieces fit together. And there are a lot of pieces to this.

Osaka's spaciness and philosophies. Yomi's commitment to dieting. Tomo's spirited nature that is even ch8ildlike. Kagura's athleticism. Sakaki's penchant for cats. Chiyo's hard work ethic in the adverse face of high school life. Each character is just as importanit as the other.

MenchiBurger's Azumanga Daioh Tv Review

Azumanga Daioh

Rated: 9

Azumanga Daioh has been described as Japan's Charlie Brown, and it is very much so. There is no cliched or story-driven tragic plot, no tense final battles, no hormonal love story (No, Kimura-sensei does not count!), nothing to get in the way of the simple, charming, everyday life of six normal high school girls. How Azumanga manages to make such everyday conversation about hiccups, bra sizes, and test scores humurous and interesting just shows how greatly the (lack of) story is told. Every situation, although perhaps not monotonous and a little out of the ordinary, is nevertheless believable, and perhaps that is part of the charm--we can all identify or relate to one bit or another.
