Story & Characters

The anime itself was very different from the manga. The basics of the anime is that is about a 14 year old boy named Daisuke who has a unique DNA. When he feels his unrequitted love he transform into the very hot Dark. Now the anime starts out really slow. Also they twist things around that make it confusing. Just small informative parts that they miss. However there is a nice development of the main characters. Like Daisuke gets his act together, Riku becomes a little more girly, Risa actually matures, and Satoshi sees the brighter side of life. I also like the fact on how Dark and Krad are spelled. See Dark spelled backwards spell Krad and vice versa. Another plus is that the black is the good and the white is the bad. The reason why the flow is slow is that most of the episodes are based on filler chapters. Plus the introduction of characters that were not in the manga. Then not only is there fantasy, but there is the cute little romantic scenes. Also it is not just about stealing art there is a deeper meaning to the thefts. In addition to the fantasy, romance and action they added a little bit of comic relief. Thus creating a good mood through out the anime. Though the plot needs to be shown more as it is hidden for a majority of the time.

Art

OMG the art is just so great. I love it so much because it is European setting placed in Japan. The characters are finely drawn though there are times where they look weird. The little pet With/Wiz is soooo cute. Then they CG some of the parts in the anime too, but there is a down side they CG some parts where it was unnecessary. For example the Toki no Byoushin was put into CG format and it looked really weird. The hair colors of the characters match them perfectly. I mean with Satoshi's blue hair I think it just fits him. I also love how the wings look. The way they are drawn just adds onto my admiration for it. There are moments where the characters resemble the work done on Cyborg 009. That does put a downer when that happens, but overall I still believe it is beautiful.l

Sound

The sound just fits so well with the anime. I cannot imagine any other artist replacing Shunichi Miyamoto. I like the voices in the english version except for Risa's. I don't know I imagined Risa's to be a little more conceited than innocent. In the Japanese version I like all of them except for Dark's voice. He sounds like a very old man. I prefer a younger sounding voice I think that is why I like the english version more. They matched up the voice actors with the characters really well. You just got to love the intro music True Light. If you listen to the background music during the anime you'll love then piano solos. It just adds a nice calming mood. So I would recommend people to try to get the soundtrack or get it off a site somewhere.

Presentation

The first episode is a nice grabber. It opens with a fight between Dark and Krad and leads you to wonder what is Black wings and why are they fighting. Also who is the good and who is the bad. You would expect it to be the one with white wings, but as the episodes continues you see that white is evil. Though they are not strong with a very stable expression of the plot. They established in the first episode the difference between the anime and manga. Also they give a nice view of the whole town in beginning giving off the uniqueness of the world which the story takes place. Other than that they need to be a little clearer on what is going on instead of making it a majority of filler chapters. Also they needed to work on Daisuke and Riku getting together earlier than the 18th episode.

If this is the case, then clearly the sound in D.N.Angel isn't quite perfect. Your sound score has been adjusted accordingly.

When I read this review I sense you were a little too excited and that actually did more harm than good to the review overall. That and I don't find myself all that keen on seeing a description like "OMG the art is just so great." Also the presentation area doesn't really well articulate the score you gave it, it seems rather disjointed and missing a few things. This is by no means an insult, just slow down and work on the flow of things. That'll improve your writing exponentially.

What I found that was enjoyable for the series was that that was well done and they even tried to blend in CG, which didn't turn out to be too bad since it was something new. The the series was great because it vaguely followed the actual manga just like how many manga turn anime are because of the episode cap. The side stories they put in compliment the manga and I found gave more enjoyment when reading or watching. The only thing I would complain about is how some of the side story episodes I found drag on and ruin the flow of the series. Eg. that unicorn ep. can hardly sit through it after the first time. The With episode was great :D to counter balance.

I have to agree with you in most areas except for two parts. The first part was Dark's japanese voice. I actually prefer that over the english voice. It fits Dark's character more considering he is suppose to be several years older than Daisuke as far as how they look. He was supposed to be portrayed as a 17 to 18 year old male not a 14 year old that is why his voice was deeper which suited him best. The second part was your rating for the story. Yes we all have our opinions on animes. I just felt your rating was a tad lower than the story should've gotten. Overall great review but lay back on the abbreviations like 'OMG'. It just doesn't work will in a review ^_^

I agree with the ratings for the most part. It was a good story, and it's nice that the whole thing isn't just plot build up and works on the characters alot too. YOu get to know them and you can really see how they grow and change throughout the show. For me, the art was a little lacking. I liked the voice overs very much, espeshily Darks. The music is captivating, and I found myself many times listning to the music rather then the words and following the story ^^ So sometimes I had to go back and rewatch it. But over all, it was a very good show! Good Review.
