Plot Synopsis

Tohno Shiki was severely injured in a large accident in his childhood. Miraculously survived the event, Shiki was sent and sent away from the family to recuperate.

As a result of the injury, he is now able to see "life lines" on objects and people which, when cut, will destroy them, until one day, a mysterious women gave him a pair of glasses to prevent him from seeing such lines.

After years away from home, he moves back home following the death of the head of the Tohno family. He was walking back from school as he meet a beautiful woman named Arcueid Brunestud, and was drawn to kill her.

He thinks that her murder was all just a nightmare at first, until she reappears in front of him.

It appears that Arcueid is a vampire princess. and recruits Shiki afterwards to help fight Roa, the antagonist vampire who has been commiting many murders at the moment.

Story & Characters

Shiki Tohno has been cursed in seeing these Death lines when cut along them causes the object or person to break apart. A mage visits him as child and gives him a pair of special glasses that blocks the lines from his vision. He just moved back into the family mansion and is unaware of it's dark secrets. His life takes a turn when he suddenly kills a mysterious woman. Everyone around him has a strange connection to this woman and the series of vampire type attacks that have been plaguing his neighborhood. Based off the h-game by Type-moon. Shiki is nothing special just your normal anime loser with glasses. Women actually play the more important roles in the whole story. Alco, the mage., is responsible for teaching Shiki's the dangers of his mysterious gift. Ciel is probably the most memorable with her blue hair and run around in cosplay according to shiki. Satsuki is your happy girl and could of been replaces with another character from the original game. I save the best for last. Acrueid Brunestad, the vampire moon princess, is a lovable character with her playful yet serious side. She is one of the most tragic characters when it comes to the story behind her. She's a perfect example of a fallen hero.

Art

The character designs are simple nothing elaborate. Everything is portrayed realistically. You dont have girls running aorund with wild hair colors. Nothing is really elaborate and doesn't have to be. The plain style adds a little something to whole effect. Kaoru did a great job is the simple concept of Arcueid, but still maintained her elegance in her street clothes. The fighting sequences are fun. Sometimes the dark lighting can make things hard to see. The team did well in portraying the death lines that Shiki sees with the grainy style.

Sound

The japanese cast does an excellent job at portraying the character. The maids, Hisui and Kohaku, are perfectly voiced as stocis and cheerful, in regards to each's personality. I really liked Arcuied's voice , which had a hint a sadness that complimented this tragic character. As for the dubbing, Geneon does a prett y good job. The anerican voices are well suited for most of the characters. The OST is great. I usually like an anime with a catchy song you can sing with. Tsukihime really doesnt have much vocals. The classical tone that it has fits the whole mood of the story.

Presentation

A good gothic type anime much like vampire miyu. Though, with most h-games, much of the story is lost since not all plotlines are revealed and mamy of the more memorable characters from the game are left behind on the drawing board. The story behind the Tohno family is slightly cliched, but redeems itself with each family member's unique ability. I wished they could of explained more about each character like Arcuied's past and Ciel's, but still okay. The whole anime is slow in the beginning. They take their time making connections with everyone. Somehow they ignored the maids, who are more important to the plot than Satsuki. Shiki's relationship with them was pretty weak and could of been better written. The last of the series starts to pick up and more questions are answered, but that annoying thing happens with more question coming up. ..As for humor, it's almost none existent except for Shiki's friend cracking a perverted joke or Shiki's comment about cosplay.(which i found funny since i cosplay as well)

whats with the low score..?
This anime was great, yeah some parts aren't that good, but the opening.Man that was the highlight,i loved it.The story was really deep,i enjoyed it and i highly recommend it for anybody looking for something new,Some parts though have completely nothing to do with the story,so i do agree with that. Also that cosplay comment was uncalled for(of couse at the time,i really didn't know wtf cosplaying is...... -_- )

If you played the game, you would undetstand where I was coming from. Most h-game renditons aren't great since only one side is portrayed...

...game..? yeah most h-games don't do very well at transfering to animes..T_T
its understandable.

I just finished watching it the other day. It was a weird anime, but in an interesting way. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't another stereotypical show about vampires. The ending was a little disappointing. After all the build up of action it kind of just faded into nothing.
