Plot Synopsis

Cosmic Era 71. A war is under way between genetically enhanced Coordinators and unmodified Naturals. The Natural-dominated Earth Alliance, struggling to catch up with the Coordinators' superior technology, has secretly developed its own Gundam mobile suits at a neutral space colony. Through a twist of fate, a young Coordinator named Kira Yamato becomes the pilot of the Alliance's prototype Strike Gundam, and finds himself forced to fight his own people in order to protect his friends.

Story & Characters

Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED begins in Cosmic Era 71 in Heliopolis - neutral colony belonged to Kingdom Of Orb. We meet Kira Yamato, teenager who joins high school in Heliopolis. During lunchtime something wrong happens... ZAFT is attacking Heliopolis because of some new kind of Mobile Suit - Gundam. Kira by accident get to GATX105 Strike's cockpit and this is the moment when story begins.....

In my opinion plot is little boring at the beginning (I mean episodes 1 to let's say 16 ) but after defeating Andrew Waldtfield and getting totaled by Athrun's AEGIS Kira is changing himself which takes plot to become much more interesting.... and finally Freedom and Justice, ORB falling and 'The secret of birth' which makes me feel so sad about Kira' childhood. After all plot is interesting but you have to watch every single episode... When you missed one everything else becomes terribly hard to understand (similar situation with EVA :|).

CHARACTERS: Tons of characters with different souls and ways of looking to the world, from kind, sometimes trustless and powerfull after all Kira, strong, inteligent and always undecided Athrun, beautiful but also rude Fllay to selfishness, bad and destructive Rau La Clueze. Every person in SEED is different and this is a strong point of SEED's plot.

MECHA: Strike, Duel, Aegis, Freedom or Providence - these are only few examples of GUNDAM variety in SEED (including normal MSes there's a lot lot more.... all those mechanics are just GREATTTT, perfectly created and so on.... everyone can choose the one that love's the most!

Art

At the beginning of the series animation is just good. I don't like only animation of bigger objects (like plants or AA, they're stupid because they're made by computers, without smart shadding and so on....) and W A T E R, which looks God damn week and it looks stupid when AA is submerging into something which IMITATES water ....

In the middle of the series animation is getting better and better, there are some episdoes which are animated awesome, without any bugs and animation recaps but there are also quite low animated ones - unfortunatelly.

At the end, or should I say episode when Freedom arrives, animation becomes stable and GREAAAT. No bugs, no craps, lots of good fighting scenes and finally 50 where animation is similar to SEED Destiny and it's just SUPERB.

What I didn't like about art is just two things:
1. at the begining faces of some charas (like Kira or Cagalli) looks like a damn monkey
2. animation recaps ....

Sound

Just no words.... EIGHT openings and endings with superB Believe and Realize and great 'Anna no shi...' and Find The Way is just a part of all OTS's from SEED. Also great insert songs like Akatsuki no Kuruma (which becomes 4th ending after all) and Meteor when Freedom appears (Freedom is a kind of MS which can promote ANY single ... we've got tons of examples in Destiny...).

But what is essence of SEED OST is not singles. It is AMBIENT, normal, background music.... escpecially GREAT, AWESOME, MILE STONE in this kind of music (similar to LOTR soundtracks ) Gundam SEED OST III. There are no words to explain how great those songs are if you don't listen by yourself: 'Justice and Freedom', 'Battle against The Dominion', 'Flay's death' (everytime when I'm listening to this song I'm getting more focused, concentrated and I bceome more quiet inside - no words.....) - these are only FEW examples of SEED OST. Just download it and listen.....

POWERFULL 10 without hestitation

Presentation

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED started to AIR in TV TOKYO in 2002 and ended year after in september 03. Series become very popular because of joinfull topics concluded and because of the last series of G( Gundam Wing 1995) was a little crap and teenagers didn't enjoy it much. SEED is different, variety of characters, mechanics, plot animation and SOUND are strongest points of this anime. SUNRISE created a continuation of SEED - SEED Destiny but it's not even a half that good as SEED because of similar topics and charackters, most of them are the same from SEED, same goes to MECHA (Freedom, Strike Rouge aso..). If you really want to watch good mecha anime buy SEED DVDs and watch this anime carefully, it's just great .... Everyone will find something for him in here - mecha battles, romance, friendship, crazy characters (Rau, Patrick Zala) and fantastic ending:
from the one side exciting and suprising, from the other side sad and teaching... (I mean Fllay.... I was never so sad before when I saw her and Kira's last meeting....)

'Thefefore don't cry, I will protect you, with my real feelings..., don't cry anymore...'
