One Piece tv Review

One Piece, the treasure of a lifetime, is being sought by every pirate in the seven seas. One boy's dream is to find that treasure and to become King of the Pirates. That boy is Monkey D. Luffy, and with his rag-tag crew he will sail the Grand Line searching for a treasure that will make any pirate's dream come true.

Synopsis: Sargent066.

Story & Characters

"There once was a man named 'Gold Rodger' and he was 'King of the Pirates'. He had fame, fortune, and power, until one day they bought him to the gallows and these were the final words he said, 'My fortune is yours for the taking, but you have to find it first. I left everything I owned in One Piece'. From that day pirates sailed to the Grand Line in search of One Piece the treasure that would make their dreams come true."

Monkey D. Luffy wants to become King of the pirates... Ever since he was a little boy. With inspiration of his idol 'Gold Rodger' and a prep talk from his rold-model 'Shanks' of the Red Hair Pirates, Luffy sets out and finds a crack team of special people to help him. What's special about Luffy is that he ate the Gum Gum fruit so his body is entirely made of rubber and can strech to unbelieveable lengths.

Roronoa Zoro: a former bounty hunter that Luffy saved. And Master swordsman who uses 3 swords. One in each hand and on in his mouth. His drea is to become the world's greatest swordsman.

Nami: An extremly intellegent woman, a professional theif and navigator, she makes maps and plans the ship's course as well as the weather. Don't let her appearence fool you, she's a fiest one. Her dream was to buy back her village and draw a map of the entire world.

Usopp: A total coward, but when it comes to his friends he's willing to fight. He's the weapon specialist and the inventor of the crew. His dream was to become Captin of a ship and meet his father.

Sanji: A smart talking, skirt chasing, and butt kicking man. He is the Chef on the ship and his motto is to never let anyone go hungry enemy or not. When he fights he uses only his feet and never his hands since his hands are his life. Also a chain smoker. His dream is to find "The All Blue"

Tony Tony Chopper: Reindeer turned human doctor of the crew. He's very bad at keeping his emotions a secret. He ate the human cursed fruit so he can become a stong human when he wishes. His dream is to become a great doctor.

Nico Robin: The quiet and some what mysterious 2 female crew member. She ate the blossom fruit so she can sprout hands in any place she desires. Her dream is to become an archologist. (technically she's already the crew's archologist)

The special connection that they have is not only a bond of friendship, but a bond of family. And their motto? Never give up on your dreams.

Art

Eiichiro Oda's art is VERY different from the types of manga of anime you see. Oda's work was recognized emiditly after he started working for the creator of Rurouni Kenshin. It's extremely playful and extremely vibrant. The expression of colors and other unusual concepts is of it's own catagory. And it's also very unique and expresive. The character deigns are very unique as well. I mean you even have weird animals and weird clothes to match. Since the show was aimed at Japan's youth it's very funny and very cartoonish. I haven't seen anyone else with this style.

Sound

The voice actors have thier owns songs to each character. When ever a character has a song it fits the One Piece theme as well as the personality of the character. The video games are very fun and can be some what challenging. You should only play it if you are a One Piece fan other wise you won't enjoy. The back ground music fits the pirate theme at the right moments. You get music that fits the sadness, the happiness, as well as the goofiness and still has that pirate feel to it. My personal favorite song is the song "We Are" straw hat version. Every time I hear the song I cry because you have Luffy and the rest of the crew singing to their friendship, dreams and unity. It really makes me cry T_T

Presentation

This series is VERY enjoyable. It made me laugh XD, it made me cry T_T , it also made me think >_<. Like all anime there is a moral behind the story. The moral of One Piece is to never give up on your dreams no matter how hard or how rediculous it may seem. And believe my Luffy and the crew have been shot down so many times and have gotten up. After every fight each of them become wiser and stronger. They learn fro thier mistakes just like normal human beings ^_^. It also presses on the matter of trust, friendship, family, and bonds.

The Humor of One Piece is very funny. It's very over draw and very espressive and colorful. You get so the characters make the most outragous faces in the world and it's very funny XD. There are alot of touching moments in One Piece that you have to see to believe. And Believe me...I cry every time I think of it and listen to the Straw Hat version of the song "We Are" as I explained in the sound box.

If you want your kids to learn something important and have fun while doing it , I highly recomend One Piece. I know my kids will grow up watching it. The games that come out for the playstation 2, game cube, and X-box are fairly easy to play since they are for children. You have to be a real fan of One Piece to truely enjoy the game.

I would definitely hesitate to give everything a '10'. The art, for instance, is probably not worth a 10... I'd be inclined to give the art a 5. Well, to each his own I suppose...

  3. Dornatela Oct 14, 2005

    10/10 from me too :D

I love One Piece. The overall story line is very interesting. Somehow it always gets my attention. This series has drama, action and humour. I really like those funny moments for example the moment Robin joined Luffy's crew. Luffy used her ability to imitate Chopper, while using Robin's hands to do Chopper's antlers. That was super hilarious. However the fillers are nothing compared to the manga-storyline, but there are much more enjoyable compared to fillers from other series. And it would be wrong to give OP's art a 5/10. It is unique in it's own way and it really fits the series.

Overall a good review . But I think you only see the positive things. I think nothing in this world is perfect so you also have to think about what isn't that good in this anime. But thats just my opinion. :x I'm not a person who gives a 10/10 that easily ;) I'd say Op deserves a 95/100.

nice review, i will see it

  14. tareren Oct 28, 2005

  15. Tatsumi09 Oct 31, 2005

    Very nice review!
This anime is incredible, and just reached 256 episodes!
I label this anime as "The Best Anime of All Time".
Nothing surpasses it, in my opinion.
Liked the character intro in the review. Kinda like a game manual giving me a brief intro on characters =)

Lolita69, while you demonstrate some skill with words in your review, I would hesitate to call it a good one even though previous readers have given you such favorable comments. A good review is one that utilizes strict scrutiny and a measure of objective consideration in order to demonstrate that the series in question justifies the score. This can perhaps be simpler-stated through the phrase "show, don't tell."

Don't say that the series is funny. Don't say that the art is unique. Rather, show that what you say is so. Find an example of humor, explain how the art is unique and why it is particularly good. A good review should be one where if your numerical scores were removed, a reader who had never seen the series in question before could accurately rate the series on its merits and not by how much you enjoyed it yourself.

This brings me to my next point. Just because an anime is your favorite does not warrant your granting 10s across the board. Ignore the letter grades and think about a scale from one through ten. On such a scale, five and six represent an average score. One is an embarrasment to human capability. Ten is the pinnacle of human achievement. As such, scores of seven and eight are very good, and scores of nine denote particular excellence. Tens should be given extremely sparingly, if at all, and the fact that you have four tens in this review alone makes your review smack of an utter lack of objectivity.

A review should serve as a good recommendation for novices as to whether or not a series is worth watching. For those who have seen it before, it serves as a means for facilitating discussion or reviewing their own opinions on the series. Your review in particular isn't particularly useful for readers in the first category, of which I am one. All that a reader who has never seen the series before can really get out of this review is not that it is particularly good, but that it's a particular favorite of yours.

I hope my comments have been helpful. I'm sure that with a little more effort and a little more reflection, you will be able to write a really good review, rather than a well-worded opinion, on series in the future.

As a heads-up, all scores assigned have been reduced by one to reduce score inflation.

What why not a 10 :) I think it is a great Anime if not one of the greatest^^
I still like it and I'm always waitin for new Episodes to come out :)
So thanks for this great Review you did a good job on that.

Thank you to all who replyed to me I REALLY appreciate it..

One of the reason I despised One Piece early on is because of the drawing, but as the anime progresses you will realize the drawing is essential for the anime itself and in effect for the characters, who would want a serious looking Luffy with all muscles in it ( ala Basilisk-type of drawing ) ? I wouldn't. I like the way it is portrayed. The pirate theme is a very clever theme, think about it, you can add fillers in it and it doesnt affect the whole story because it is just well a story of travelling, it is never-ending. But the downside though of this anime is the whole blah-blah thing, i mean come on how many times do we have to remember each and everyone's story? right? so I gave it 9/10.

I really do like One Piece, and have not seen the 4Kids version, but what I hear they done to it makes me sad... :( I am only at the end of the Skypiea saga due to deployment, I miss it!

Also love the ColorWalks, still havent gotten Lion yet...and its always there calling my name saying buy me.
