Story & Characters

Ahhh my most favorite anime of all time. TRIGUN!!! Basically to get started, trigun is a story about Vash the Stampede and Knives (but it mostly focuses on vash). Vash the Stampede is a unique type character. On the first episode, two men were talking in a bar saying "Did you about that bounty? He is worth 60 billion double dollars", then next thing you know, the entire bar is shot down to nothing and everybody is killed except one man. The bar is destroyed except Vash sitting in chair not giving a care in the world. Finally he stands up dramatically pulling out his highly and rarely customized weapon and aims towards the enemy. As his yellow stylish glasses reflects off the sun, with a mean look, he shoots his weapon, only to find out that he has no bullets!! He then turns from evil to a scared but funny look. As the enemies shoot back, he starts crying and running around avoiding every shot.

Now dont get me wrong. Vash has different personalities. If you piss him off, you will piss him OFF!! but on the other hand he can very very funny, even when hes scared. He is also nice at everybody, and a total sucker for love, when he see's a girl. He tries every line in the book, but always seems to fail! now if ppl have told you about the story that Vash can destroy an entire city without killing anybody, it is very true. He demonstrated it a lot of times, but he didnt do it intetionally, he was forced by Knives his brother! The thing about vash is that he has a weapon in his arm, when he is holding his custom weapon, which can destroy an entire city. But he always prevents from killing a single person. but out of the entire series, he was force to eliminate one person, and he was never the same. "Nobody has the right to take another persons life" said Vash.

Vash was a civilian on a flying vessel in space. As a child he grew up with knives. Vash was more respected with anybody, other than knives. Everyone despised him because he always thought negative. During the years. Now forgive me, but I forgot how the vessel was being destroyed, but as it was going down, everyone had to evacuate. But knives attempted to sabatage the evac pods, so they wouldnt live. When Vash woke up from the crash, he was on earth, and saw that knives was there. For years knives stayed in the destroyed vessel, creating the ultimate weapon for destroying people. Then it was complete. Knives returned to Vash with a customized gun and said "Here vash. Were going to eliminate ppl with this". Vash did not agree with Knives plans, so he shot knives, and he started to feel tremendous pain like no other. Vash was so scared of what he did, he ran away from Knives never seeing him again. So on the earth, Vash was a wandering Nomad. walking from city to city. He is also a bounty of 60 billion double dollars, because he accidentally destroyed a city without killing a single person, leaving them in complete poverty. All the people were dying because of them journying to other civilizations without food. In one episode, it shows a little girl being involved in the migration trying to find her parents. When she found them, they were dead from starvation. she started to cry, then a man in torn cloth wrapped around him, came along, and held the little girl and took her to civilization. that clothed person was Vash the Stampede. But she didnt finally realize until she was in her adult age, because she saw him again.

Now the story is basic. Vash is a wanted man at the highest price possible. Everywhere he goes, ppl either gets scared, attempts to kill, or dont know until somebody else points him out. But during the series, he finds that knives is in search for vashes life. So he sends hired mercenaries to kill vash. But i told you too much. Watch it yaself!!!

Art

What more can I say, The Art is exceptionally beautiful. The cities bring back the old western cowboy theme. It is very colorful, and the animation excellents!

Sound

This is where the greatness begins. Now as me being a music producer, I was highly amazed of what selections of music that they had. Every song touches the heart, and every funny song makes you feel happy. As far as the vocals, and sound effects, absolutely great!!! Now the setting of the story is bringing back the old western type cities (where the cowboys performed shootouts near the bars). So when the wind blows, it is a such high quality that you actually think you are there. I can already tell that they use a surround sound system for their series. but the music emotonally fits the scenes that happens. My favorite is an instrumental that use a upright bass, and a guitar that makes just feels good lol!

Presentation

The presentaion of the series is definetly on point. Great drawing, excellent animation. The story does include a lot of subliminals thoughts that u would prolly have to watch a second time. But I havent watch an anime thaats more subliminal than cowboy bebop. If there is, please tell me about, I would definetly want to watch it. Now each episode has its own seperate story, but the entire series still depends on Vash's goal. Some episodes can be extremely funny, some can extremly emotional, and some can be extremely amazing. the most emotional episode I've seen is when a man hostage a man that he is gnna kill. When Vash arrives in the scene he tries his best to stop the killer. as he grabs hime, the man pistol whips Vash in the face. Now I didnt expect for vash to sit there and take those hits, but he did. As the killer aims at the victim, Vash ask why are you doing this? then the killer respond "because this man killed my daughter!! He slaughtered her without any exception, and now I'm gonna take his life". Vash begged the man not to take his life, bacuse it would not bring his daughter back. Next thing you know, Tears burst, which becomes very emotional that makes you think about sad things. But other than that, the presentations are on point!!

Trigun is indeed a great anime, but I just wouldn't give everything a 10 - especially artwork and sound, which I think maybe a 7-9. Otherwise, nice review!

Uh a tad once sided here.. Artwork a 10? ~_~ Sound 10? :( Story 10? x_x Don't you think the ending was a bit weak? Why did they never explain the reason for his existance? What was the purpose for being a human plant? Weren't there ANY weak filler episodes to you? Also, your storyline is the entire first episode LOL XP City in the sky.. Explain that...

upside27, just because you like a series doesn't justify your giving it ratings of 10. '10' represents absolute perfection, and should be given out extremely sparingly when absolutely deserved.

Scores adjusted to reduce score inflation. Specifically, Story and Art were each reduced by two to 8, and Presentation was reduced by one to 9.

ye trigun is an excellant anime, even tho the manga trigun maximum is better, basically the same story just added more gungho guns and exposed their story line more. Plus the ending was weak, like what happened to knives and vash, theres no way knives is gonna change his mind,, so wont knives just betray vash again?
Its really a dilemma since vash doesnt want to kill (still amazing how much he freaks out when he causes death , so sad) anyway the review was one sided, bt i must admit the art is incredable, yashiro nightgow has a great imagination , and madhouse did well with the animations. The music fit, the story was moving and left you wanting more and its great how easily characters emotions change .

even tho the manga is better to me i still think the anime was great 2

This is still one of my favorite animes... The music and art are great and the story was well done, though there were some aspects that probably could have been explained better. And Legato was an awesome villain...
