Ah! Megami-sama

Ah! Megami-sama tv Review

21 year old Keiichi Morisato's life unfolds when he accidentally dials the wrong number. From out of the mirror Belldandy, a first class goddess, is sent to help Keiichi by granting only one wish - "no matter what it is." Accidentally, Keiichi wishes Belldandy to be with him forever.

Soon after, Belldandy's older sister Urd (second class goddess) appears from the heavens to play as the lovely Cupid; as twist of events occur, her plan soon backfires. Skuld, Belldandy and Urd's youngest sister (also second class goddess) appears from the heaven in an attempt to return her dear sister Belldandy back to the Heavens.

Throughout the anime, Keiichi and Belldandy come across many obstacles testing their love for one another. Do they have what it takes to go against the Gods? Or will their love force them to separate for eternity? Ah! My Goddess is an anime for those who love Comedy, Fantasy, Magic, and Romance.

Story & Characters

The story starts out naturally with Kei being the natural loser and having bad luck. Things start out slow, but seeing how this is a television series instead of an OAV they needed to spread it out a bit. Belldandy's appearance is the same as in the OAV... don't know about the manga.. The coming of the other Goddesses was great. I was especially thrilled when they brought Skuld into the mix. Having the Demons as the villians was great. The overall story was great. I thought the side stories as well as the main story near the end was beautifully written. The thing with Urd being have demon was awesome.. I nvr knew that was true but her skin colour would give that away. The part where the goddesses have angels and seals were great for the story as well... The character development is great as well as the anticipation of the characters were awesome. I felt how they used Kei's sister in this series was great... much better than the OAV... Using side characters like Sayako integrated into the story as a rival for Belldandy for the heart of Keichi only for her secret hold on the university was a great arc to use. It helped build a few of the other side characters as well as the main characters in Urd, Belldandy and Keichi.

Art

The art of the characters were great. At times I thought it could be more detailed but they were beautifully drawn... I thought they had great ideas with Bampei-Kun and how he has that hat and Sembei was also awesome. His character was awesome I hope for a season 2 of the television series with maybe more detail in the characters to happen. The choice of clothing for the characters really suited them. I remember when Keichi was about to ask Sayako out on a date and he wore that rediculous suit... that really suited him because he's not very rich and the suit looked like it was old and had been used b4... stuff like that makes it more realistic.

Sound

The voices of the characters were great.. I think they were the same as the OAV and Movie. I thought that the openning and closing themes for the tv series were well done. It went well with the video they chose to put together. I think the osts were great and that the sound was well done by the artists who compiled the music and themes for the series. Open Your Mind was a great opening theme. I always get chills when hearing it.

Presentation

I think the series is overall great... A definite keeper.. when it comes out to dvd in region 1 I plan on purchasing the series. It had splendid humour and was very enjoyable to watch. I enjoyed the side stories more than the main story. I hope for a second season to the series or another OAV for the series.. The franchise is a classic and I believe that all anime lovers should watch this. Originality his hard to say... this was one of the first and there are so many others... The fact that the TV series is recent yet the OAV is relatively old is hard to say... I started watching anime in 2000 and the TV series came out in 2005 so many different anime came out during that time which may have similary qualities of this franchise. I thought that the overal seems where there were action (Belldandy vs Marla) were well done and make you wanna watch more due to the humour that Marla brought to the series This is definitely one to keep and watch over and over again.... I don't think I've deleted the AonE version off my hdd yet

I really love the series. The characters are funny and they have a really deep side to them as well as a little mystery (cause their angels...duh). Its probably not for every one whos into the timid protagonist who never "gets it on" with the girl. And action is pretty much non-violent. But its innocence and great story with humorously cute characters make it really good.
