Sangaru's Mahoromatic Tv Review

Mahoromatic tv Review

Mahoro is a combat android who is given early "retirement" 390 days before her batteries run out and her system shuts down for good. Her commanders grant her a final wish before leaving and much to their surprise, she chooses the simple life of a housemaid. She is placed into the home of Suguru Misato, a high-school aged orphan who lives like a slob. He understands Mahoro's past quite easily, yet what he doesn't realize is that he doesn't know the truth about his own past and Mahoro's real reason for coming to him.

Story & Characters

The story in Mahoromatic is good, but it can be a drag with all the talking. The whole plot was captivating though! Just somthing about a female cyborg, who is destined to cease functioning. and a male human, Suguru, make the plot interesting. Suguru's friends are loyal but can be a aggressive when he or someone else does something that they wanted happened to them. So then they chase Suguru and by the next day they have already forgotten about it (somtimes). Maharo and Suguru make a good couple and a team. (refering to the manga in the last statemet.) Minawa later comes in and makes the plot even thicker. And the fued between Shikijo-sensei and Mahoro-san are very entertaining. Shikijo keeps trying to seduce Suguru and Mahoro always seems to stop her. But Shikijo is a very determined women when it comes to choosing her targets, and she want Suguru. Comming to a conclusion, i think that the story could be improved, but its still good, I have enjoyed it very much. Now there isnt really much else to say about the story in Mahoromatic now that i have spoken my mind. So over all the story is well written, therfore i give it a 7

Art

The visuals i like, because they are clean lines unlike the jagged one you see in many other animes....Fist of the North Star, Get Backers, and Cowboy Bebop to name some....I do like those animes so please don't think i dislike them. The color choices and outstanding backgrounds, make every place they go to interesting. The Vesper symbol is quite cool and the enemies are drawn with the same detail as the main charaters, even though they end up getting blown up , dieing, or later forgotten about. I give the art a 8.

Sound

I don't know about you guys but I like "The Pillows". Their songs are really cool!! The voice overs in the dubbed verion are done well, i do think it matches up to the charcters quite well. Shikijo has a very suductive voice while Maharo has a very just voice. Its all good.Minawa-chan's voice does get on my nerves a little, and the consecutive Yes's (hai's) don't help much. or to me at least. Ohter sounds are well timed when it comes to sound fx. I'm prety sure its hard to line up the sounds with the motions on the screen. But with technology now, its easy.I give the sound a 5.

Presentation

I honestly like the whole anime, it really kept me into the story line. Humor was a big plus for me, I like the chicks that came out of Mahoro's head when she fell a sleep. The anime kewpt everything aligned and where it was suppose to be, not jumpping from place to place. Suguru is actual a brave guy, hes just shy and doesn't like to speak his mind. But once someone is in danger, he is ready, serious, and determined to do all he can to protect that person. Maharo, you can tell she likes Suguru, but she refuses to accepted it and get too attached berfore she ceases to function any longer. But she is very kind hearted, even to Shikijo-sensei and Ryuga-sensei. i quote words from a person who inspired my to do the review " To be as frank as possible Fooly Cooly is as original as Bandai's presentation of .hack//sign. And we all know that story. Bandai takes a huge chance, spends millions and makes: an anime series, an OVA and OST for that anime and a manga and they made more than they spent in vrey little time. Fooly Cooly was presented....uniquely...it was all backwards at some point but in the end it all made sense. Every last part." ~that was by PwnOxz0r. In the end i give the presentation a 8.

awww...7.17? I'd have given it a higher score, but I guess everyone has their own opinions. I think the character development and story was done quite well, mahoro is funny and serious at the same time. She seems like an ordinary girl when she's not fighting, and then very brave when she is. She's very responsible and caring.
    I don't quite remember much about the sound..but I don't think it was bad enough for me to rate it 5 out of 10. Perhaps it's because you watched the dubbed version and I watched the subbed one? I might go back and have another look at it ^^;

Totally my fave anime! I love it, i watched it 3 times and what i can say?
I want else! The ending is aufull, but it's Gainax, they could destroy the whole world and all of the characters you loved...
OST is beautifull, opening theme for 2nd season especially!

This is one of my favorite animes of all time! It's kinda sad about the final episode though but I'm gald it still became a happy ending for Suguru.
Both the ending theme songs for both seasons were great!

I would tend to agree with everyone that a 7.2 is somewhat low for this series. After having just finished the second season today, I have to admit that even though the anime hugs the manga version very closely, it totally rocked my mind with humor, action, emotions, and the plot overall, even though the ending seemed mysterious and rushed. Your low rating of the sound makes me wonder if you ever thought that many of the sound/songs had a tangible effect on the presentation of the anime. In fact, if you check out on of my threads over at the hardware, software, Internet forum, my laptop has no sound and was still able to enjoy the anime and my mouth aches from laughing. With sound, I could imagine that the anime would be marked down as one of my top 5 animes. Other than that, a decent review.

I think Minawa's voice is really cute! :P

I must admit, that even thought I did shed a tear at both the end of episode 13 and 14 I still find the ending to be kinda bleh. Although, the humor was...humorous and there were times I think that they could've done better with sound alignment, but overall, a 7.17 isn't bad, it could be worse ^_^
    Great Review!
