Fatal Frame game Review

Twin sisters, Mio and Mayu Amakura visits a place where they usually play when they were still little. Mayu, who walks with a perpetual limp after a childhood accident follows a mysterious crimson butterfly deep into the woods. Mio saw her and quickly chases Mayu who went even further in to the woods. Now, the two girls are led to a lost village, the All Gods Village. As they go further, in the village they found the Camera Obscura that has exorcism capabilities. Mayu who was more spiritually-awared becomes posessed and only Mio can save her. They began to unravel the village's disturbing rituals.. involving twins.

Story & Playability

The Fatal Frame II story was quite nice, since there are not much story like this, twins which found a village because of an incident, and then found that the village is cursed? And more bad, the village have the curse for the twins? You will find that type of story here.

This kind of story maybe will makes someone think that, "ah this is just an ordinary story". That will happen when you are READING, not PLAYING a game. When you're playing this game, you will find that its not just about a curse and twins, there are so much mystery on the game that will makes you wants to know more and more. Makes you want to discover.

The story is quite original, I think it kinda based on true story, like the first Fatal Frame series. Maybe, I dont really know about it. But yeah, I can only said that the story is great. really great. You will not find this kind of story in other games on the same genre.

Graphics

Fatal Frame have beautiful artworks. They fashion design are cool! The details are just great, I love to see the character's clothes on the games, it's not just cool, it's great! Their clothes are just great. It's simple and nicely done. Especially those laces on Mio and Mayu's dress. Makes me wants to have one :3

The details on the mansions and roads and forests are great. They are really cool! I never seen something that are not really 3D in a game, but having so nice scenes around the game! Yeah, Fatal Frame is not like Final Fantasy, who really trying to show their greatness at 3D art. But I personally think, this is not a heavy/hard arts, and I always wanting to see this kind of game art! It maybe similar to some games, but I dont know, i just love their arts in Fatal Frame 2.

And not like the first sequel, Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly have a colorless but colored scenes. I mean, they do have colors, not just a black and white colors like the first sequel have, but they dont have so much colors on them. Fatal Frame 2 colors is dominated by Red and Black colors, which is the Crimson Butterfly's color. And it looks really cool.

Sound

The background music is scary! The horror style of the music is supporting the whole sceneries on the game. If i'm not wrong, the background music is stopped when we found a ghost to fight, and that makes you feel more nervous to fight the ghost.

The Original Soundtrack, I mean the theme song, is the best theme song for Fatal Frame Series. Named Chou (means Butterfly) and sung by Tsukiko Amano, have the Fatal Frame atmosphere. Her voice is just match the game's concept and genre. But I think that the chorus section of the song is kinda too loud, and I think she is screaming lol. But yeah, it's a great theme song.
Plus, when I take a look at the translation, it have a very deep meaning, and once again, it really match the game's concept.
Love it. Really.

Fun

As you guys know, Fatal Frame is a horror game. So I will just recommend this game for people who love to have an adventure through empty village, where the village have a scary history and ghost and forbidden rituals. So, it's just for people with a strong heart xD I mean, if you are get shocked with the first scene, do not play it. Seriously.
The horror scenery on the game is really great. The darkness, the character's weakness, it will makes you feel like you are unable to do anything. Fatal Frame is not like the other horror games, which have the ability to destroy the ghost with their weapons. In this game, your weapon is just a single camera. And there is one chapter where you are dropped the camera and you cannot fight the ghost back.
I am enjoyed playing this game. Why? It's simply because I really want to know the endings. And also because Fatal Frame has such a unusual plot. >3

    Nice review, story part was good ^^ but for art and sound, you kinda lost track XD
    Your English was fine, but yeah, you need to stick more to the point ^^ but this is a nice review, keep up the good job :)

    this is a game where it kinda repeats...in my opinion there isn't much to it than taking pictures..the only reason i finished the game was to continue the storyline and see how it ends.
