Story & Characters
Well, I'm immediately biased in my review simple because this is a studio Gonzo work, and ever since I saw Last Exile I've never questioned anything they've created. Now, I'm only reviewing the first domestic DVD, so regardless of what I say the show could get better or worse with the release of the other DVDs. Bakuretsu Tenshi (Burst Angel) is essentially about a group of mercinary like girls who work for a certain organization and their cook (though he doesn't really seem to play any sort of important part in the series, not yet at least). Character development is kinda lacking in this disc, but thats forgivable seeing as its the first one. Pretty much from start to finish is just crazy action with hot girls toating guns around. Hopefully the story will become more personal for each of the characters and they'll grow and become better rounded. The driver of the plot is that this city has just allowed normal folks to begin carrying fire arms, so all hell breaks loose and things turn into a futuristic western setting, which is pretty cool.

Art
When it comes to high quality animation and art, Gonzo is among the best, and this anime is no exception in their long history of great anime. The character designs are great, the mech designs are cool, the fashion is hip, and the transition between cell animation and cg is very smooth. This is top notch stuff. The character designs are especially nice due in no small part to artist Umetsu Hakua. His first art book has just come out and this guy does great work. Hakua may be on par with Range Murata, who did the art for Last Exile. Regardless, the show looks great and features plenty of eye candy to anyone who is looking for it.

Sound
Again, high quality stuff here. The voices for both the sub and dub are pretty good, though there are a couple in the dub that were a little drab. The music is pretty good, though the opening song has some japanese rap/jazz thing that have english words popping up out of nowhere and to me that always sounds a little funny. Sound design for the action sequences are very good-the mechs, gunfire, explotions, Etc. I can't think of much else to say about sound, except that the ending song was also recorded in english by Funimation, and I personally don't care much for that because the singer really isn't as good as the original.

Presentation
The show isn't based on the most original idea ever, hot girls with guns, but it's a formula that i happen to love so i don't mind watching it a few times over. The action is very full and stimulating and the girls are hot so the re-watchability (neat word huh?) is pretty good. And again, the mech formula is used in this too. I've never really cared about mech anime, but when hot chicks are thrown in and makes it alot easier to swallow. Hopefully over the course of the series things will turn toward a more serious and character driven plot instead of senless action, but all in all it was a pretty enjoyable experience and I would reccommend it to any one who is in the mood for some hot action. The extras on the disc are also very cool. Funimation put the radio dramas that the actresses of the show did in Japan, and they very entertaining and funny, though they arent really about anything. They just goof off and talk about incoherent ideas and such, but still, its funny to listen to them go on and on about nothing. Well, thats about it, i hope this review helps somebody.

The story is difficult to follow in the beginnig but as the story progresses i understood more and more of what each girl btought to the table the thing im hoping for is there is a second season to this series and not get lopped off thats how the series ends and also hoping that a manga version comes out.
Nice review.
I've never seen BT but sounds cool.
Yeah, Gonzo studio roks!
Tss I'm posting here, 'cause your review's the only one giving a 10 to the Bakuretsu Tenshi's art ^^
But really, you're harsh in your notations. For me, the serie deserves a 9 (and I don't really have memories of the sound of the anime, but I didn't liked the generics...)
Nevermind... the end was surely strange, isn't it? So I too hope for a second season, or some OAVs... :p
I agree...the end is really hanging...what will happen to meg? and don't tell me Jo died...one explosion weas all it took when she could even run through a hailstorm of bullets without being hit? I REALLY REALLY HOPING for a sequel...or I hope that the OVA would show what happened after the last episode....
