Plot Synopsis

Based on the manga by Seo Kouji, Suzuka is about a high school romance story. Yamato-kun, the main guy in the anime, traveled to Tokyo for high school in anticipation of a change in environment. He lives with her aunt. what is awkward here is that his aunt actually operates a women's dorm. In order to live for free, Yamato agrees to help her clean the place every day past 12am, Interested? then Go ahead. One afternoon, casually, Yamato came across this pretty female jumper Asahina. He was immediately mesmerized by her beauty and her poise and ahtletic ability. It turns out that Asahina actually holds the Japanese high school record for jumping. An inspiration among many japanese people, she is under a lot of pressure to meet everyone's expectations. Yamato helped her along the way and a relationship developed between them. Story & Characters

This review is based on the first two episodes of the promising Suzuka anime. Obviously you can tell that I have not watched the entire series yet, but since there are no reviews for this anime yet, I thought I would write on to introduce you guys to it.

Art

I personally have split views on the drawing of the anime characters. The static moments featuring Suzuka Asahina jumping high in the air and over the bar are very nicely drawn, while Yamato and other characters in this anime seem to suffer a bit
One thing that deserves to be mentioned here is that in watching the anime, the directors make clever use of the camera. For example, when Yamato-kun was cleaning the bathroom or when people are eating, we have pretty much all zoomed out shots, when it features Asahina practing jumping, we have the extra zoomed in shots. I have to give them credit for these.

Sound

Even though the music is not one of the strong points in the series. I do consider the opening to be my favorite. Sung by the all lovely Masanori Takumi, you can imagine it to be sort of like Mai-Hime opening besides it has a really touchy melody too.
The voice acting in this series is pretty average, theres not to much that can be mentioned here. Besides the voice actor for Asahina is the all lovely Kanako Mitsuhashi, you might remember her from Killua in Hunter X Hunter
The only background music I seem to remember is when Suzuka jumps over the bar, but it supports the situation beautifully, it is a smooth, gentle and poignant piano theme. It really highlights the mood of Asahina when she is doing high jump well.

Presentation

As true with any other quality high school romance story, it is the characters which help determine the quality of the anime. And in this particular anime, we have a utterly appearling, quiet and athletic female in Asahina and a kind of dumb-ass but responsible male in Yamato, I would say this is a pretty good combination.
This anime also seems to be a more serious more real version of Love Hina, for example, there are no KungFU, no Mecha and stuff like these. What it does include is a touch of sports anime element, in the sense of quite close to any works created by the mangaka Adachi Mitsuru, like Touch or H2.
In comparison with the manga, the anime has also cut down a lot of ecchi scenes, for example, there are not a lot of panty shots in the anime as there are in the manga.
I would personally recommend this anime to anyone who is trapped in the summer's heat right now, as I find this anime very refreshing and hopefully you will feel the same way.
On a sidenote, even though every girl in this anime is really cute, our Yamato-kun did not get all of them, sorry if you are looking for an anime like that.

You should never submit a review without watching the complete series first. For many reasons.
-To not look stupid in the end when other people submit full, complete and correct reviews, and your's is shunned for doing so.
-Don't submit things just to be the first one in the category.

In the overall review, i think it was kind of well written, although there are some weak points that you should try to work on when writing a review. Remember, people read these when they want to know if a specific show or manga is good. And to read a undescriptive review is telling them that it sucks.
Nice job.

Woah, I thought this series just started.. Well, I kinda agree and disagree with toxictea, I think it is OK to write when u havent watched the whole lot, but maybe watching more episodes would help u in understanding every aspect of the anime ^^
Oh, seeing the story aspect, it sounds like Love Hina XD (the front part ^^)

Well, in regard to Toxictea's review
There are plenty of reviews on series such as Naruto or Tsubasa where the manga nor the anime are close to be finished. In reading these reviews, the sad thing being that the reviwers do not tell us exactly which part of the anime they are reviewing. I thought I have avoided this problem by pointing out in the very beghinning of the review that it is based on two episodes. So the user has a choice whether to read on or not.
I am just introducing the anime to the general community of minitokyo, seeing that there has been no review there yet. For example, kawaiiguy's review on Dokuro comes after the first two episodes also.
Although I personally consider two episodes is too early for a review, however, I think we should never wait for the series to finish to submit a review, right? toxictea-chan?

@tareren: No, Suzuka isn't like another Love Hina. It's more lika KGNE. There is no real comedy in Suzuka, it's drama.
So this Anime is far better than the reviewer pointed out...

I have to agree with Lafiel it's more like KGNE and not like Love Hina tough it has some funny parts. However my position is easier because I've already seen 20 episodes. So far my fav character is Miki(she's so cute and lovely) :) .I really recomend it for those people who want to watch a romance, school life, sport anime.

No,... This anime is the WORSTt one,.. it shows mostly stupid acts of Yamato. if you only watch a few front episode, you may expect something good in later episode. but, dont hope for that. After the next 6 episodes, you'll just cringe and not want to continue. It become worse n worse. ....I stop download it from fansub for almost 3 month.....
Yamato is too selfish, thickhead, and stubborn. He just think about himself. he shouldnt be with any of the girl, just leave him alone. Well, I almost punch my monitor for a few times per episode.... All the girls are behaving like girls, thats usual, but Yamato is different. He does not appreciate Honoka(first girlfriend), He force Suzuka to accept him(force Kiss). I was really happy when suzuka slap, slap, and slap Yamato when he kiss her in 2nd last episode. If you want a sweet drama episode, dont watch Suzuka. If you want the one that cringed, irritated you, Yes, then Suzuka is.

I am really happy when I see the rating here is 6.5.... yeah.:D:D! muahahahaha!... At Animenfo, Suzuka have rating of 9/10 (top 200 last year).......

eh.. its ok.. not too bad but like not as interesting as any other anime. . . but its like an asian drama type but the thing is it needs to be with real life characters to fulfill the real emotions evoked

I honestly think that this is one of the best anime eva.. i dnt knw y bt this anime just hit me with one of the best storylines that i have ever come across. As a boy i dont realy get touched by the mushy stuff, but this blew me away. AND WHY DID IT HAVE TO END? im constantly looking for more episodes on this. if anyone has any more info on this then PLEASE TEL ME! all in all after repeadly watching this i can say that this anime is a breath of fresh air from your typical shit storyline fighting anime and is for the mature viewers. top notch!

I think Suzuka is one of the best anime out there. The story is wonderful and you can relate to the characters if you have ever been in High School. I am with mudal, I am usually the guys that watches Hellsing, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop etc, but for some reason Suzuka's story hit me and it is one of the few anime I can watch over and over and never tire of. I watch through the series at least once a week now. It's amazing.
