Plot Synopsis

Manaka Junpei encounters a beautiful girl on the roof of his school. Pictured against the backdrop of the setting sun, with her wind blowing through her hair, Junpei manages to catch a glimpse of her strawberry panties. Embarassed, the girl runs away before he even gets the chance to talk to her. His only clue is the math notebook she dropped, with the name 'Toujou Aya' written on the cover.

The next day, he finds that the 'Toujou Aya' who owns the notebook is the exact opposite of the girl he saw on the rooftop. There's no way it can be her... Can it? Junpei then has to juggle school life, tests, his girlfriend & all the other girls he finds attractive. Just who will he end up with... Who is the girl for him?

Story & Characters

The story is about Manaka Junpei, a boy who wants to pursue the job of a movie director. One random day he chooses to go to the highest area of his school. Out of nowhere a beautiful girl falls straight from the roof right in front of him. The school girl's skirt flies up and Manaka sees her strawberry panties. From that time on he fantasizes about the girl and her panties. He does not know who the girl is in the beginning. Later he finds out the girl's name, meets her, and he meets other girls. They all want to make movies with Manaka. This anime follows a familiar pattern with so many predictable things happening. It is another one of those harem type animes with a lot of girls all fighting over one guy and he cannot decide which one he likes the most. The story seems like it is written for either young adolescent boys with raging hormones that absolutely need jack off material or for 30 - 40 year old men that are still virgins, which is sad. There is not enough character development in this story. The story is not creative at all.

Art

The artwork is a notch above average. There are some parts that the animation is not as nicely presented as others. Sometimes there is a chibi feel to the art which is good or bad, depends on your opinion if it should belong in this anime. The drawing style is done nicely overall. I do like the way each girl looked. The artists of Ichigo 100 % made each girl attractive in a different way. The backgrounds are ok. There are some nice colors and any action is portrayed great visually. Most of the colors are vivid which is fitting for this anime but even at night time the darker shades come out looking alright too.

Sound

The sound is adequate for this anime. The beginning theme can get you excited for the show to start. The ending theme is a nice techno/j-pop song that can excite you as well. I personally liked the theme songs and they got stuck in my head often. They have parts in them in which words are said in English not Japanese, but that is ok. Enjoying the songs is a matter of personal preference though. The dubbing was about average. Also the music and sound effects that are played during each episode fit the mood right. Sad music is played when something sad happens and so on.

Presentation

If you are a new anime fan, you can probably enjoy this more than hardcore anime fans. The long time fans will probably see Ichigo 100 % as a pointless predictable anime. It has enough humor to satisfy a new anime fan. But for long time anime fans, you will get some laughs here and there at some embarrassing moments for Manaka, but the unoriginal story makes this anime seem less enjoyable to watch. Ichigo 100 % is easy to watch in the sense that there is nothing complex about it story wise. I would not recommend watching this anime more than once all the way through. If you like some ecchi, comedy, a little romance and some harem you'll probably like this. The manga is better than the anime so you should check that out if you are interested. Also this anime is only 12 episodes long with 4 OVAs. The current OVA is only worth checking out after you have watched the whole show. If you do not plan on watching this series than do not bother watching the OVA because you'll get almost the same thing and it occurs after the series. I give Ichigo 100 % TV an overall score of 6/10 based on story, art, sound, and presentation.
