Peacemaker Kurogane

Peacemaker Kurogane tv Review

A period piece set in Kyoto during the twilight of the Edo period, Peacemaker Kurogane tells the story of a boy, Ichimura Tetsunosuke, who joins the Shinsengumi in order to avenge the deaths of his parents at the hands of an influential Choshu clansman, Yoshida Toshimaro.
There, he learns that if he is to taste revenge, he will have to cast aside his humanity and become a demon in spirit;
this is thus the tale of a boy forced by the circumstances of his time to grow up and embrace his destiny.

Story & Characters

Peacemaker Kurogane is everything a person who enjoys kick-butt action and History ever wanted. Peacemaker is Historical Fiction, and a very good one at that! This story takes place in Edo, currently Tokyo, in Mibu Village. It follows the lives of the members of the Shinsengumi group. The main characters are a 15 year old page, Tetsunosuke Ichimura and his make-shift father and brother Tatsunosuke Ichimura. Tetsunosuke (Tetsu) has joined the Shinsengumi in order to get revenge on the people who killed his father. The other main character is legend Captain of the First Unit, Souji Okita, who despite his cheerful and loving nature is also a demonic killer. Okita owns a malevolent pig that seems to appear in almost every episode, named Saizo. Tetsu and Okita are sparring partners. Tetsu works for the rather anal Toshizo Hijikata, also known as the Vice commander of the Shinsengumi. The show follows the daily actions of the characters their relationships with one another and the ever present danger of the Choshu.

Art

The art of Peacemaker Kourogane, is exactly like that of Shinsengumi Imon Peacemaker (sorry if that is wrong) because, well, it is by the same author, Naene Chrono. The show which is titled just Peacemaker, does differ from the art, like the majority of other animes'. It makes it very unique which is of course benificial. Anyway, in the anime, I think they matched colors to the manga just right... I think that if they had not chosen flaming red hair for Tetsu, his character would have changed. I believe the way that they dipected Mibu and the clothing was very appropriat for the setting... Altogether the art of Peacemaker is well drawn and planned out.

Sound

Personaly, I love the sound of Peacemaker... They did a fantastic job getting the voice actors! Tetsu is done by Luci Christian (Full Metal Panic) who is, obviously a girl, she gives the character a uniqueness that actually makes you feel like he is a real 15 year old boy. Seeing Vic Mignogna (sorry if incorrect) as a whiney, parental figure is just right. It just works so well! Once again they did such a great job with the cast. Okita is done by Brenden Hunt, who really can do the good and bad points of this character, meaning, he can pull off the happiness and joy that this character is. Yet he can also make him sound like a heartbroken killer. I really loved the casting for this.

Presentation

Peacemaker Kouragane is so unique that the show still is not exactly the same thing. It is it's own story, with it's own wonderfull characters you really care about. Even though it is based off a true story, it's non-genaric and a real page turner. I honestly didn't do my homework that night because of that book. I didn't put it down once, and I am sure if anyone reads it they will at least feel close to the same as I do. It is worth it to buy it. It is thirteen plus, but I think that anyone with an attention span could love this book. It does get violent at times, so if you are an action fan you will love it. It also has a good story line so no matter what genre you like, this book is for you. I realize that I am saying things over again, and I do apologize but this book is that good. The anime is too! If for some reason you don't like the book try the anime. The anime is based off both books, a combination so you will be seeing new stuff, seeing that the other Peacemaker series has not been released in america yet.

    I as impressed with the story, it was going a little slow and i think manga was better but still the action and plot were above good.

    This story is great; it mixes bits and pieces of both manga arcs and makes up a more complete and rich whole. The only downside of this is that the main character never quite ceases to be "Natruto" like and matures, but stays as he was for the entire series, as opposed to the manga.
    More Saitou would have been awesome, too; and more HijiOki actionXD
