Rurouni Kenshin

Rurouni Kenshin tv Review

Ten years after the beginning of the Meiji Era, a wandering samurai came to Tokyo. This man, known as Himura Kenshin later on, ends up living in a Kamiya Kasshin dojo and teach kendo for a living.

However, his life is not as simple, as turmoils arise from time to time, unfolding his true nature as the famous Hitokiri Battousai, the greatest killer of the Bakumatsu. However, vowing never to kill again, he tries as hard as he can not to draw his sword until the critical moment comes, and so far, manages to escape his bloody past.

Until the day when an old menace, in the form of Shishio Makoto, the successor to the Hitokiri Battousai, threatens the peace of the new Meiji Era. Shishio and his Juppon Gatana are ready to start a new revolution to correct the evils of Western influence, and forced Himura Kenshin, along with his new friends, once again raise his sword to protect their loved ones.

Story & Characters

.:Summary:.
In the eleventh year of the Meiji Era (1878), a vagabond swordsman is found wandering the streets of Tokyo. A strange man, he carries a reverse-bladed sword and has an x-shaped scar on his cheek. He wants only to be left alone.
However, a girl named Kamiya Kaoru accuses him of being the man claiming the identity of the legendary Hitokiri Battousai. This man is murdering people in the name of her family's doujo. When he saves her from the real killer, she invites him to come stay at her doujo, since he obviously has no other place to go. This is the beginning of the story of Himura Kenshin.
Before the Meiji Restoration, Himura Kenshin was known as Hitokiri (Murderer) Battousai. He was the top assassin for the reformist group Ishin Shishi. However, when the old government was overthrown and the fighting had drawn to an end, Hitokiri Battousai had disappeared. Kenshin wandered the countryside for nearly eleven years; the world presumed him dead or lost.
When Kenshin meets Kaoru, he is no longer Hitokiri Battousai, for he has sworn never to take another life again. His sword is not a regular sword, but a reverse-bladed sword, meaning that he cannot kill anyone with his sword, but he can defend himself. Kenshin is a man who is trying to escape his past, and create a future for himself. With the help of Kaoru and the others that he meets, he may just have a chance.

Art

the art is very great .the drawing of characters is nice.kenshin'scar on his left cheek ,his reversed sword ,his eyes that turns into red when he get angry and his red hair are just so great, they make me feel so strong.KAMIYA DOUJO and its leader kaoru san are fine.sano and little yaiyko are funny.different characters such as the doctor, little sisters ,grandfather, misao, different names and different enemies like sojoro, aoshi, henai, shisho are strong.the whole grafics is so goooooooooooood.espically in fights and arguments.

Rating: 9

Sound

sounds are very strong .there are different many opening songs and ending songs.but they are fine and normal in my opinion.like one half, starless, tactics, sobakasu and kimi ni fureru.
but i like the sounds and effects during fights and argument. they just make me more excited.
it's just wonderful.
a girl plays the role of rurouni kenshin and does his voice so does yaiko..kenshin'voice is nice and mild unlike sagara sano.nothing more to say ,i think that's all about sound and voices.thank you veryyyyyyyyy much

Presentation

Rurouni Kenshin is the best if not one of the best manga/anime ever! Its graphics, story, plot, characters are excellent. I recommend it for children, teenagers, and adults alike. The thing I like most is that it gives a glimpse of japanese history and most of all it gives a statement on good morals and non-violence.
There actually isn't as much violence in Reflection as there was in Trust and Betrayal(the movie).
The anime, like the manga, manages to be both serious and funny. At times, the anime is very serious, usually when Kenshin is fighting or trying to avoid a fight. But humor presents itself during the more mundane events of everyday life. One such area is of course when Kenshin and Kaoru get into an argument. The anime manages to show a humorous side to the characters and their life in the Meiji era. Without such periods away from the overwhelming seriousness of the story, the series would surely become tired. The humorous moments always provide a laugh and keep the series from becoming stale.

No offence but I thought it was 10 years into the Meiji Jidai that the rurounin wondered into Tokyo and met the young Kendo assistant master it says on most of the websites I've been to especially it said in the anime that he wandered for 10 years and stumbled into Tokyo meeting young Kamiya Kaoru-dono,de gozaru.Gomen nasai gozaimasu,de gozaru,Seissha doesn't mean to offend anyone,it's just that Seissha is stating a point,de gozaru

rurouni kenshin is a great manga (10/10). the story is excellent as well as the fights and battles kenshin and his team (sanosuke, saito, aoshi, yahiko, kaoru) encounter. the last saga is the best ,reaviling the past of kenshin how he got his scar and why did he swear of from killing. the art is amazing though the manga art is alot more detailed. the voices in the show are alright in some cases like kenshin's(voiced by a woman in the original japanese) the soft but manly voice of richard hayworth matches him more though. nice reiview...

Not only does this show excel when it comes to swordsmanship detail but it also has a good solid plot. I can still remember the very many moral lessons i learned from this great anime.

not a bad review, samurai x is for the serious side, whereas kenshin is more of the comedy angle. both are equally good, not to mention kenshin is a pretty decent series.

Could use some details but over all not a bad simple review.
