Chrno Crusade

Chrno Crusade tv Review

8 volume manga (1998-2004), Daisuke Moriyama
24 TV episodes, Gonzo (2004)

Brooklyn, 1924. The prosperity of the decade has summoned the darker forces of nature to rise from their sleep and back to the surface of the world. The Order of Magdala, a religious military organization, has developed special weaponry and trained forces of nuns and priests to battle this evil. Follow Rosette Christopher, a young rambunctious exorcist, and her partner Chrno, a hornless demon, as they wade through hordes of monsters and demons, fighting evil and risking life and limb. Not to mention excessive damage to real estate.

Story & Characters

Chrno Crusade is one of the better animes that I have watched. Although I haven't watched alot of it though.....anyway. Chrno Crusade is beautifully animated, has a very interesting and appealing storyline. It has alot to do with demons, guns, nuns, and the devil himself, which makes this anime really cool. Basically, it tells the story about a nun named Rosette(which is by the way 16), assitant and friend and kind hearted demon Chrno, and a bunch of other chars that you will see in the anime. Well, it starts out that Rosette and Chrno are both part of this military organization(keep in mind that Rosette is a novice nun, but a real master with the gun), and they are both sent out on different missions to destroy the demons that lurk in the shadows. Rosette is also looking for her younger brother, Joshua, who was kidnapped by Chrno's ally, Aion(who is an EXTREMELY evil person.) You should check it out one time. It does have alot of spiritual stuff, but that's what makes it interesting. I encourage you to see a few episodes; they will blow you away!!

Art

The visuals are very clean and beautifully done. Nothing seems to be wrong with the animation to me; even the smallest thing in the anime is beatifully animated; everything from guns to clothes. SO beautiful. It's almost as good as the art in Gundam SEED. The animation for the powers and stuff like that in the anime are just so carefully done that you feel like that you've been attacked!!! Here's a link for a pic of Rosette and Chrno:http://www.animint.com/encyclopedie/base/image/c/chrnocrusade.jpg

Sound

Well there isn't that much music in Chrno Crusade, but when there is, it fits the situation quite well. The opening song, called Tsubasa wa Pleasure Line, sung by Kuribayashi Minami, is a great opening song and it fits perfectly with the anime. Every song in Chrno Crusade is either slow with a piano, or sorta spooky sounding. (You have to forgive me because I haven't watched alot of this anime, but it rocks, so that's why I don't know much of this anime.) The sound effects fit pretty well, but they could have done better. Still really nice however.

Presentation

This anime takes place in the 1920's, in New York, so I wouldn't really consider it an orginal anime, if that's what this thing means. It was created recently, in 2004. It also has alot of spiritual things in it, such as showing Mary and the nuns praying in a church and alot of other things. I recommend this anime for 12 and up audiences, because although it is spritual and holy like, it does have some romance(now you know why I hate Aion), and some scary stuff. Very thrilling at some times; times are especially cool when Rosette uses her gun and when Chrno turns into a demon. Overall, this anime is pretty nice to watch; it does have action and is extremely interesting, but like every anime, there is always a boring episode or two. It builds on itself, so you have to watch to get it. But what's an anime without the boring episodes?Oh yeah, just because I said it was holy doesn't mean that it is holy and church like if that's what you thought; there is MUCH MORE than that. There are no games, as far as I know, for Chrno Crusade. There is, or course a manga series, so be sure to check that out.

I think it's a bit bold giving an anime 10 for both story and art. Perhaps a bit of tweaking might be needed on the scoring.

You do make some good points in your review though.

i dearly love this anime, though i might be a bit biased on that since i usually like the fantasy genre anyway. still, i probably wpuldnt have given the artwork such a high rating - it was nice appealed to me, but it still wasnt perfect, which is what a '10' is to me.

ChrOno Crusade, no fricking idea what a Chrno is... hrmm isn't that one of those long donuts with strawberry filling? -_-'' Oh yeah, the Anime, it's good... Accept the ending. At first when I started this anime I was like... It would be really dumb if the ending is how I think it is going to be, and surely it was. I guessed it off the first freaking volume *sigh*. The story line was ~decent~. The art is nice, music is kinda bleh! Overall a good anime though peeps. 7/10

I agree with the high rating, but I feel that the story should be more like a 9 due to heavy reliance on post WWI era and the music upgraded to a 9 or 10 because the music fit perfectly with the changing scenes and all, especially the opening and closing songs - they blow me away so much that I have basically memorized most of "Tsubasa wa Pleasure line" by heart - it's that good. I thought that the anime garnered something a little over a 9, if anything.

Very weak review, but it's not all that bad, could probably put some details, but over all, not bad.
