A Little Snow Fairy Sugar tv Review

A Little Snow Fairy Sugar has the simple plotline about a young snow fairy apprentice named Sugar who wishes to become a fully fledged snow fairy just like her mother. Sugar comes to the human world searching for a "twinkle," an unknown object that fairy apprentices need to find to become fully fledged. By coming to the human world, Sugar then bumps into Saga, and suddenly Saga's well organzied life gets mixed up. Only certain gifted humans can see season fairies, and Saga is one of them! Throughout the series Sugar continues to search for the mysterious twinkle.

Story & Characters

A very original plot. I haven`t seen any other series that has something even remotely close to season fairies. This is about the antics of the most sugary cute fairies from the awesome creator Koge Donbo. The story is divided up into multiple arcs, like school life, the bear pianist, the past, the history of the town, and so on. The backstory of Saga`s mom may be a bit cliched, but it is executed so beautifully that it is nearly flawless. Even the fillers were well thought out, like the episode when Salt made an awesome aurora. Then there's the episodee where Saga dishes out the waffles, or "Wafl-os!" as Sugar calls them. The bear pianist was such a touching story that I even shed a few tears. Even though there isn't a deep prodding plot throughout the individual stories kept me very entertained. The special 2 episode OAV was just pure icing on the cake. 15-year-old Saga!!! School uniforms! Oh yes! 15 year old Greta?! Yes! After finishing those two episodes, I was filled with contentment and happiness. It was just that good.

Art

You either love it, or you'll either get diabetes. It is that sugary sweet. I am part of the first group. Needless to say, I absolutely loved the art. I loved the chibi-ness, I loved the sugar being thrown at me, I love the way the coffee was animated, and I love Greta's little quirks. All the characters are very refined. There`re no discrepancies like in Konjiki no Gash Bell. The art is bright and colorful, and the backgrounds are very detailed. I really want to visit Germany after seeing this because the art is dead gorgeous. Running animations are smooth and not choppy at all. The only downside is that the piano animations don`t match the notes or rather the piano playing was obscured, but that`s alright since that doesn`t ruin the whole feel of the story.

Sound

Very very sweet. The OST is a must-have. I can remember every theme even right now. The other show that this awesome music composer did was Rozen Maiden, and I highly recommend that show too. Saga`s theme on the piano is pure brillance, I can almost play it now on my own piano. The season fairies each have their own distinctive theme on different instruments. I`m amazed at the sheer number of songs that the sound director can place in such a kid`s show. Greta`s theme is awesome too. Since I play the trumpet myself, I love Salt's playing. He is a master. But alas, in the end, he turned traitorous, brainwashed by that Turmeric. Oh well.

Presentation

I love the characters; the high point of Snow Fairy Sugar. I love the character designs. I love how each character have their own quirks. Ann is so much better than Lorna, since she looks so much like Shia from Pita Ten. Alan and his two gay buddies are hilarious. Greta is freaking awesome, as with Salt. I love the cuteness in everything. I don`t know what to say about Turmeric though, because all he does is sit around waving a cello and looking cool. He also pimps with that flute player. That`s fine by me, as all the characters were just so damn cute. I can't get enough of them.

I`ll definately show this to my kids. It pains me to think that shows like Ed, Edd, and Eddy rule the kid`s shows here in the states while the Japanese get Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar. It`s not fair! Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar was a beautiful experience. Coupled up with the special, it`s an anime that no one should miss. It`ll take time to get over the sugary cavities and those who do will find a deep and satisfying show.

JC staff is well known for it's flowing background art, but other than that, their animation has been a tad bit skimpy.

Great review, shame on America for diluting their children's shows.

You don't download, you buy. Because TSFS is licensed.

Very good Review Ladholyman, I think you did a very good job. Though there some things I would like to point out....Kinda like a "The More You Know" thing.

-Koge Donbo wasn't the creator of Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar, she actually did the character conceptions. The original Creator is Haruka Aoi.

    - I don't remember seeing any evidence that Alan's friends were gay, so I don't think that a nice thing to say when your trying to make a good review.

Other than that, great review. I expect to see more from you soon. ;)

Oh don't take it too seriously. I love the guys in tsfs. They crack me up. I knew something was wrong when the manga doesn't have the koge donbo feel... but I know the art was from her. Oh well it's a great show anyways.

Um.... you have certain "means" of getting it... or you can buy it... but to dwelve any further will be a surefire bannage from the moderators. Be smart and use your head.

it's such an excellent anime. i'd give 10/10! the ending made me cry :(

its targeted and young audiences but it really deals with lots of mature themes as well. (depression, loss of family, friendships)

Sugar, why did u hav to go!?

I totally agree with this review. Well done here.

BTW, Sugar is made by the same person that made Pita-ten (Koge-Donbo), so that would explain why Ann looks like Shia.
