Story & Characters

The story of this series is about an extremely lucky girl who starts her job in a brigade of 4 other girls in the future to look for "LOST TECHNOLOGY". The main character, Milfeulle, is a bubbly air head with a lot of luck and who is a good cook. Forte is the oldest member with a thing for guns, she likes to fire guns and collect them. In addition she has a weird hate, but love to kill relationship with mice. Ranpha is the second oldest and is always looking for the perfect guy. Ranpha has an interesting whip like thing that she can make from her hair ties. Mint is a young, blue haired billionaire heiress who is the brains of the operation, but has a thing for chicken costumes. Vanilla is more of an enigma, she is almost always quiet and is very devout in whatever she believes in. Vanilla, if she does speak, usually references God. The 5 are looking for the LOST TECHNOLOGY, but they don't know what it is. They are often sent on random, pointless missions to find it, or baby-sit. Eventually they pick up some real "LOST TECHNOLOGY" but don't recognize it as such and keep it around as a sort of pet for Vanilla. It practically worships Vanilla because she is a "true angel." The story gets a 3 because there is no real point to it, but does have some entertainment value.

Art

The art of Galaxy Angel is simply average. There is nothing truly special or unique about it. It is most likely hand drawn. However, it is not very sophisticated in execution like other hand drawn series are. There are a lot of bright colors and sparkling things, all typical for a shojo style series. Although the characters are in the future and are using very sophisticated ships, etc. the animation does not reflect that. Although the opening sequence did have some 3-D animation, I think they might have even used it in one or two episodes, but on the whole not much money was put out for this series. The art is simply unremarkable for the most part, which earns it a 5.

Sound

Galaxy Angel's music is average. It neither detracts nor adds to the story significantly. The mood music is very repetitive. Think Japanese Magic Knight Rayearth, whenever something bad happens you get the same sad music. When something good happens, same happy music. Battle sequence music, all the same. Although I do like the upbeat opening and gentle ending songs a lot. I have watched the series in both English and Japanese. I prefer Japanese since the typical girl screaming bothers me less in Japanese, but that's me.

Presentation

Galaxy Angel is, if nothing else, original. I can't even fathom how they came up with this plot. The characters are appearance wise very anime, but their personalities are unbelievable, especially Milfeulle's luck. GA is quite funny in spots, such as in the beginning when Forte and Ranpha get Milfeulle to go to a casino with them to win back all of their money because Milfeulle is extremely lucky. During the last betting game, the casino manager cheats and a random meteorite falls from the sky hits him, knocking him out presumably, and hitting the table so that Milfeulle wins. Earlier Milfeulle saved a cat and was about to be blown up by the bad guys when their missile turned out to be a dud. Then they threw the dud back at the bad guys and the missile blew up and took the whole other half of the cliff with it. This is a series that requires almost zero thinking to watch. It was a mildly amusing time waster. So, if you have nothing else to do, or just don't want to be completely bored you should check it out.

If you're talking about the anime series I've never really seen it but from what you've said about the anime the manga probably would serve a better story. It's kinda like them after the anime where they have to safely deliver a prince who's threthened by a dude who wants to kill him and the rest of the royal family. Sometimes the anime version is better than the manga and sometimes the manga is better than the anime but sometimes they're made by different people so you have to read the manga and watch the anime and compare.

I agree, for Galaxy Angel, the manga is waaaay better than the anime version. I have seen the first DVD of the anime version and have up to 4 GNs of the manga.

I too enjoy the manga better than the anime series. There's no Takuto in the anime series which kinda made me sad cause he brightens up the story, and makes it more fun to read. I can't wait till the last volume of Galaxy angel comes out! ^ _ ^ ( I'm hoping there's gonna be a Milfie and Takuto relation. ^ ______ ^ )

OK, you've already depicted the better way it could. But I agree this anime is kinda irritating because of these little (little?) details.
This anime is absolutely for children.
Guys don't look at it directly or you'll still seeing it whe you close your eyes and be unable to sleep.
In the real way, it needs a lot of work. Better luck next time, or I'll begin posting fanfics, again, what does mean the end of the world, again!!!

Actually, after viewing 100+ anmie series, that Galaxy Angel is my all-time favorite series. To date I've watched all first three series and half of the fourth. I'd agree that there is no "story". That aspect isn't really that unusual for a comedy. Galaxy Angel is primarily a comedy in the trappings of sci-fi, and seen as that it does a pretty good job. And acutally I like the art quite a lot, much better than the manga. I love super cute things with vivid hues, and this show tickles my fancy in this regard. Also, there is virtually no "ecchi" content in this series. This is a big plus for me. It appears to me that much of the anime being fan-subbed today is done so primarily for its "sex value" and the lack of such in this series is a refreshing change. Having said all that, the US DVD I saw of the first season was both a bad video capture job and a bad translation job.
