Air tv Review
When he was young, Yukito Kunisaki's mother told him of a winged girl in the sky. Yukito's family has been searching for this girl for generations. Finally, Yukito's journey takes him to a small seaside town where he meets Misuzu Kamio, a girl who is eager to make friends with Yukito. Yukito ends up staying with Misuzu and her mother, Haruka, while he searches for the girl in the sky. In the town, however, there are strange occurences, and as the days pass by, Misuzu starts to have strange dreams.
What is the truth behind Misuzu's dreams and her failing health? And how is everything connected to Yukito and his journey?
The manga adapted from the game is illustrated by Yukimaru Katsura.
Story & Characters
Air. I am sure many of you might have heard of it or play it before. Air is another one of those Hgame converted to anime. It is based on a game from Visual Art's/KEY. It's about a guy name Yukito who travel around performing a doll show to earn his living and to fullfill his mother last wish of saving/finding a 'girl with wing in the sky' somewhere out there (I dunno how to put it to word, just watch it and you would know). Well in one summer he met this girl call Misuzu in one little town and this is where the story start.
The story is splitted into 3arc over the span of 12episodes. Basically each story deal with each girl which is Misuzu, Kanno and Minagi. Each arc is interwoven somehow, but Misuzu is the clear lead. I dont really particularly like the 1st two arc, as I dont really like kanno character, but they do provide some details into the bigger story. The story might get draggy and bored if your an action junkie.
The character development on this show is awesome. You really will feel sympathetic and get drawn toward the characters. It is the characters and the setting that give Air such a atmosphere.

For start, the character design is really good. But somehow i feel that the character design are too cute or too loli. All you lolicon out there will probably enjoy it. The background is where this anime really shin. The background is very details. When I watch it, I feel that it is almost OVA like quality.
I didnt expect such a highly quality animation from a non action anime series and non 3dCG. Every detail and every movement is nicely drawn. The art really potray the emotion of the character and their suffering. No recycle scene except on one of the recap episode(Btw, the recap is done nicely it is part of the plot and not some way for the anime studio to make more episode). The color is really rich too, unlike many other anime which have washed out or faint color.

The OST of this Anime is an absolute masterpiece. I believe that the opening theme Tori no Uta is the best opening song ever. This is the song that make me hook to I've music years ago. Lia might not be as popular as Kotoko, but the way she sang Tori no Uta, i think Lia is much better.
And in one of the episode, hearing Aozora almost put a tear to my eye. I seldom cry when I watch movie or anime but, with the song on the background together with the scene , it make it 10x more emotional.
The voice acting is really good too. This show require really good VA as it is almost non stop talking without much action. The VA really put life into the character especially Misuzu. Minagi seiyuu was great too, the way she speak is just so unique. I havent really heard any seiyuu that sound like her.

Currently, in my opinion, Air the best anime in 2005. There is like no contest at all as almost all of the 2005 series are really junk. I recommend marathoning throught the 12episode in a day. Air is no comedy like all the harem show out there. Eventhought it is a Hgame, this show is have zero fanservice or ecchie stuff or any of the hscene from the game. It is a serious drama about family/love/loneliness. I really enjoy it very much, Air is so different from the other animes out now. There is no super power hero/character in this show or any badguy/villain to kill. Plus, you really grow attach to the character and you feel the sadness/loneliness they go through. Since when have you heard of a story about a curse girl with wing in the sky?
I highly recommend watching this show if you still havent watch it. I seldom write review but after watching it. I felt like i have write a review on such a masterpiece. I felt so sad that it ended. Luckily, there is an Air movie coming out soon, hopefully by the end of this year. Even if you dislike tearjerker and drama, i still suggest you to get it. The music is already enough of the reason to watch this show.

Ah, yes...nice review! ^^ I've just finished watching the first epi...and it's so good!! XD I must say, the art is absolutely gorgeous! I cannot wait to watch the rest of it. (There's a movie coming out? Yayie!!)

The story for just 12 episode are very good.

8.7/10 is consider a very high score already as I believe that no anime should be rated 10/10.
There is no such thing as a perfect 10/10 anime.
Yup, they really did a good job and since it ended I dont really have anything else to watch anymore.
Lets hope that they can make the movie as good or even better than the tv series. -

A good and accurate review. And the way you acted parallels that of me. I also like "Tori no Uta" and thinks it is a very good OP song, both rhythm and lyric. Further more, that scene in the 12th episode where "Aozora" was played when Misuzu reaches her goal before happily sleeping forever, it was such a touching moment I almost cried out (if only my family wasn't staring at me like "what are you doing?) The song is a slow-paced emotional one and the lyric was filled with a feeling mixed between sorrow, pain and happiness. It was a little confusing emotion at the endpoint of the story, sorrow that Misuzu died even she was for the first time loved by her "mother" for only a short time. However, the other side of my heart was happy for her to find her true happiness, to be loved by someone. In the whole picture, the series is the best of 2005 animes, the art and OST are superb, and last of all, the story is so touching and pure with nothing ecchi, just a pure white love relationship between man-woman and mother-daughter. I really reccommended this one, as a representative series for those who still thinks anime is nonsense.
