Plot Synopsis
Two ordinary high school girls, Himeko and Chikane, discover they are in fact the reincarnations of the lunar and solar priestesses, destined to summon the Ame no Murakumo to fight the evil of the Orochi and its eight necks. Along with this they must deal with Souma, one of the Orochi who struggles with his destiny and his feelings for Himeko.

Story & Characters
For freindship-between-females-lover,it's definitely a must see anime!,however,it turn out to be extravagantly horrible for homophobics ^^ It's really to bad for it's only 12 episodes long....well,at least the romance is good enough for all 12 episodes.
Besides,there is still a triangle love which is really strong and nice to watch. Possessive nature is clearly to be seen .Is love between females really considered as "inappropriate love"? Well, i myself doesn't think so and this might the best story that prooves that girl's love is pure,strong and yet romantic.
Loving a person who sees you as her best friend is the worst way of falling in love in the world,especially she's a member of your same sex.You are either fortunate or unfortunate;you are luky cause you can always stick to her as her best friend,a person who she shares all her problems with;the latter one is that you can never ever let her know your true feelings towards her as the friendship will go downwill and eventually ends,since people still think that love between girls are forbidden.
What a person truly wants in this world is always another person.If you want more teenage angstry between girls,want more friendship,this is what you should pick!

Art
Well,priestess and mecha combination would make you think"whoa! a
reincarnation sakura wars with lesbianity involved" but it's totally the
wrong if you ever get that idea.The mecha is totally boring,childish,a style
that i would give a rating score 1 to compare with Gundam or even kiddy grade =)
. Well,forget the mecha,the priestess stuff and japanese ancient mitos are still
okay.Girls with priestess clothing are the coolest! And the monster they fought
with are somewhat related to mecha and the priestess,it's not like what you
think of mecha and shrine maiden fighthing together...priestess do only the
prayers,robots still fight with robots...just that the good priestess supports
the good guy ^^

Sound
Can't expect more from Kotoko. The opening music is good...but the vocal is way too blurry,overall,i don't have a comment for the opening theme. As for the ending theme,i think it suits this anime a lot. Also,people said that the two theme songs are the inner feeling of the two main girls,things so ^^
But i really like the presentation of the opening...at first it shows the face of one of the main girl and then shows the other one....back to back,how cool it is.The rest are just mainly okay.For the ending,go watch it yourself,perverts would really drool for it.
Still,one of the episode is really come to the highest point where there's a indulged action between two members of the same sex,but it comes forcely from one person...it's really showing out the possessive nature and angrsty,after being hurt...poor thing

Presentation
I watched the fansubs and i've been like,oh my god when is the fansub is going to release...since the romance always goes to the climax every end of the episode.For some people,they would watch this anime to entertain themselves in a sense of humor.For instance,a really hot-blooded hot guy fights against his destiny to protect the girl he loves and this girl loves another girl.And the scene comes where the guy fought the enemy and saying with great determination "i will protect whoever-name-of-a-girl" ,down there,two females embracing each other.Poor guy he is ,and it's like the funniest unrequited love in the world,some people think.
Overall i still like the presentation,the romance scene are good,though i still think it's in the traditional "spring flower flows aorund the atmospere when the two person's sight meet each other". What is better than the lovely romance between two beauties? But one thing,i hate it when the people blush too much,no matter what it is,i think it's sort of uneccessary.

Wow! Really loved your review, you do pick out the strong points of the anime =)
I'd have to disagree with "Can't expect more from Kotoko.".
Well for one, I love Kotoko's music >.>, and the music is just amazing. The voice is loud and clear too. The music (mainly open and endining theme) really boil my blood with excitement to watch the next episode.
I didn't really get what you were trying to say under the "Art" section of the review. I'd have to agree that mecha and miko don't mix....at all! However this mix is what brings out the series' uniqueness I'd say.
I'm not much for girl/girl relationships, the ending was totally....weird, but it makes me think quite deeply about life. Actually, the relationship thing hit me with a direct shock in the face, which is always better than the same boring love stories in many books/manga/movies.
Overall, nice review, but it would be nicer if you specifically specify what made you give a certain section a certain rating (such as the art, why an A....just mentioning miko/mecha doesn't say anything about the art in the series. For example you could say that the art resembles the emotions of the characters, especially in the love scenes. The art expresses the emotions so clearly that you, as the audience, get so attached to the characters and feel as you're one with them...ok, I'm being really dramatic here, but I guess you get the point, ne?)
Other than that, I enjoyed reading your review ^.^

Mecha born from rocks+mystical incantations that summon mechas from the moon?+ and then lesbians that forced an innocent hero turn gay with his bro....
my god....i must say i laughed as i say this out.;....
your review is good, but obviously we share very different views of the same show.
