Iketeru Futari tv Review

Story & Characters

Iketeru Futari is a series that consist of 16-5 minute episodes. Saji Keisuke is an average perverted teenage boy who fell in love for the mysterious, man-hating girl, Koizumi Akira. Saji desperately wants to give "it" away. His dreams finally come true when he figures out a little game Koizumi likes to play on men, which is to called men, telling them that she will have sex with them if they get her and item she wants, but giving them a fake name and description. Though Saji is in love with her and wants to be with her, she wont even give him the time of day after that night. Saji doesn't want to give up on his feelings for Koizumi though , so he sticks to her like glue, constantly trying to make her his. But his efforts wont be easy, with her complete turnabout personality, and not to mention his big breasted childhood friend Yuki, who also happens to be in love with Saji. All of this makes for a hysterical ecchi/romantic/comedy.

For such a short series, the plot happens to be very entertaining. Each episode is consistent, and keeps to the story for the most part. Though this anime isn't exactly the deepest anime out there it manages to be a very fun series to watch. But Iketeru Futari does have its fair share of problems. The ending leaves a lot of holes that are unfortunately, never filled, so we are left with a lot of questions, giving the show an incomplete sort of feeling. The story focus completely on Koizumi and Saji's relationship, so all the other characters tend to feel irrelevant, as well as Koizumi and Saji themselves. The characters don't tend to change, which is common in short anime. Koizumi had a lot of potential to grow too, which she did, but in the end, it felt like more could have been done with her character. The fact that Iketeru Futari is so short is a bit disappointing, especially, since it has the potential to be much longer (the manga for one runs up to at least 19 volumes, and the anime covers only up to about the third volume). But considering that the story focuses on the relationship, it does its job well, since the one thing that I felt changed during the series from beginning to end was the roller coaster relationship of Koizumi and Saji. The one thing I like about the relationship s that it has a realistic relationship feel to it, that I happen to really enjoy. The one thing that the show focuses more on than the relationship is the fanservice, which makes up the most of this series. There is not one episode without a panty shot of some sort, so if you don't like fanservice, then you should just give up on this show.

Anyway, Iketeru Futari is an anime that you can enjoy if you would like to just sit back and enjoy the ride, without thinking to much about anything. Its fun, sexy, and somewhat romantic at the same time. But those who aren't into extremely ecchi anime may not like Iketeru Futari all that much.

Art

The art of Iketeru Futari is pretty average. Its not stunning or ground breaking at all. It actually tends to look very cheap a lot of the time. The animation also looks rather jarry a lot of the time, and doesn't tend to remain fluent. But the opening animation happens to be very fluent and impressive, which makes it very nice to watch.

But Its not all to disappointing. Iketeru Futari also has a very cute style that I happen to enjoy. Also, if you are an ecchi fan, you may enjoy the fanservice scenes that make up more than half of the series, such as panty shots and other nudity type fantasy scenes. I actually think the fan service art and animation is well done in this show. Yuki's breast jiggling as she walks actually seems appropriate for her breast size, so I don't feel the jiggling is an exaggeration, like I tend to do with other big breasted characters. The angles for the panty shots seem accurately portrayed the characters actions. The characters bodies look well proportioned for during things like Saji's fantasies. The nude scenes actually look good half the time, it doesn't look exaggerated, or ugly, but there are times when I think a the panty shot isn't all to attractive (actually, me being a straight girl, I don't care in the first place). The faces though tend to look abstract at points, which is the one problem I really have with the art quality of Iketeru Futari.

Another thing I like about the art is the facial expressions. Saji has such a wide range of different faces, all which are laughable and fit his personality just right. Koizumi tends to have a different variety of faces as well, from innocent, to angry, also fitting her moods just fine. Same goes for every other character in the show.

The background art in Iketeru Futari is also rather average, nothing to really grasp the eye. But its not entirely bad either. For example. The buildings in the city at night when Saji finds out about Koizumi are rather detailed and pretty, and I feel that this type of art really fit at the time. Other times tend to just look plain. So in other words, the backgrounds are somewhat good, but mostly cheap looking and bland.

Background people are also put into some detail, there are no budget cut paper characters in the background as far as I know. I like that they took the time to actually put background people in there, no matter how cheaply made they look. I also find it funny that if you look hard enough, you'll find a girl in episode 3 (about 00:18 into the episode) that looks like Fuu from Magic Knight Rayearth in the background.

Sound

I must admit. "Fall in You" by Yuki Kimura, is one of my favorite openings in all of anime. It fits the show perfectly well and a just an overall wonderful song to listen to. The ending song is much different though, It has no lyrics, and is what most of the background music for the series comes from. The ending song, for something with no lyrics is pretty cute, but not something I personally, would listen to over and over. The background music for the series are just different versions of the ending and opening song. Which gets old if you listen for to long. But it isn't so annoying since each episode is so short. I don't know if there is an OST for Iketeru Futari, I doubt there is, since there really is a very small amount of songs for this series. But the opening song alone is definitely worth a listen.

The voices for the characters fit wonderfully, and Saji's use of the English vocabulary is fun to hear. The characters all have a distinct voice that matches their personality.

Presentation

While I will admit ecchi comedy isn't at all original these days, I think Iketeru Futari did a good job of standing out. Unlike a lot of couples in this type of series, Koizumi and Saji have a very refreshing relationship. With the short amount of time for each episode and only 16 episodes to work with, their relationship moves at a very nice pace. They start out like a one sided love. and moves very quickly to a sensual, sexy relationship. Koizumi's actions and temper tend to be like that of Naru of Love Hina, but at least Koizumi has reasons for her actions, and I've yet to see such an on off relationship done like Iketeru Futari in any other anime.

Iketeru Futari happens to be very funny if you like slapstick, ecchi, or gag style humor. Its a cute humor that doesn't go over the top, and manages to make me laugh every time.

Overall I really enjoyed watching Iketeru Futari, and I still enjoy it to this day. I highly recommend checking it out just to see if its to your taste. If you don't like, or don't understand the anime, then I would also highly suggest reading the manga as well, since it goes far beyond the anime, and explains a lot more situations in detail. I think if you like Fanservice anime/manga You will definitely enjoy this anime/manga. Its a wonderful, anime, and a 2 hours worth spent on it.
