Plot Synopsis

Setsuna has a bit of a problem that most teenagers do not have: He is in love with his sister. However, things only get worse when he and his sister begin to be attacked by things calling themselves Angels, who claim to be after him because apparently he is a reincarnation of one of the most powerful angels ever. Together, he and his sister get pulled into a war between heaven and hell.

Story & Characters

Angel Sanctuary starts with the forbbiden love story of Setstuna Mudou and his sister, Sarah. Setsuna has a best friend, Kirah "Senpai". But he is not a commum boy.

Setsuna is the reencarnation of the fallen angel Alexiel, one of the most powerfull angels of heaven, and the one who started a revolution. As a punish, she was banned to earth and condened to have terrible deaths over and other again. But Kirah, who is, in truth, the encarnation of spirit of ther sword stops that circle when he kills her with no much pain. So, Setsuna was able to born different - and thats why Adam Kadmon came to him.

Adam Kadmon is the most important angel in heaven and he is locked. He needs Setsuna to help him.

But the same time, Katan, a Rociel (brother of Alexiel) serve unlock the seel alexiel had putted on his brother. Rociel awakes, completelly insane, and wants to come back to heaven to take his place pack.

To do that, he wants alexiel. And to awake alexiel, he ends kidnapping Sarah, Setsuna´s sister.

This is the summary of this wonderfull manga. But its only when it starts.

Art

In the begening, the manga was not very well drawed. Some scenes are difficult to understaind and you must pay attention so you wont get lost. But it gets really better by time. The artwork, as a unity, is great. The angels are drawed just so beautiful, creative and delicated. The devils are sensual and even more beautiful.

The anime OVA loses a litlle when we talk about cloves. Rociel at the manga is always hearing the most beautiful and stylish . In the anime he was to sobrious.

Setsuna and Sarah are both well made in the anime. But Kurai looked just to small.

Sound

Oh, thats the best part. The original soud track of Angel Sanctuary anime was really great. Not only the ambiental music, but the singed ones too. The ending is a little boring, but just read the translated version. Is very alike Setsuna´s toughts. And at the ending of it you can watch a litle more anime.

I would recommend people to download the OST. Its really nice, well done. The opening music is just gorgeous!! I cand understaind a thing that they sing in english cause they sang just to fast but still, its reat. Im addicted to "Messiah" (the opening name)

Presentation

Well, the only problem of Angel Sanctuary is that it has TO MUCH characters. So, if you dont pay much attention, you will get lost. I recommend to write a summary to help with the manga. If you are a person with strong religious belives, I wont recommend this anime to you. You must be open minded to read angel sanctuary. And you must separete: THIS IS FICTION, not real life :P So, thats not suck a problem the devils being better than angels :P In angel sanctuary devils are bad. Angels are even worst.

The story is complicated, but very rich and beautiful. I loved to read it and I would recommend to anyone who wont feel offended by the manga/anime subject.

The best moment of the manga is the "heaven´s" part. The "White Minister" is just a powerfull and hatefull image. But its also very sad. There is no maniqueism on angel sanctuary. Angels can be good or bad, just like devils. But angels got corruped when god disappear

If you have a open mind, love bishounens, love sad romantic stories, love anti-heros, and you are not very much christian, this is the best manga for you. Just pay attention to the story and Im sure you will love it!
