Plot Synopsis

Two years after the defeat of Sin, Spira is once again in a state of disarray. Two factions are now vying for control, leaving one scantily clad Yuna in the middle. The former High Summoner has shed her old ways and is off in search of new adventure. Upon finding a video of a certain "you know who," she sets off on a journey to find more clues. Story & Playability

A sequel to Final Fantasy X, this is the story of Yuna searching for Tidus, and also saving the world as she sees it being threatened again.

I think that the story was really weak. The whole thing starts as a search for Tidus, with comical villians like LeBlanc popping up now and then to make things difficult. There is no thrill in playing this game because of the lack of seriousness at the beginning. As it progresses it introduces more villians, but there isn't really much development on the characters. In the end, it's a little like Final Fantasy VIII - the bad guys become the good guys, and the villian ends up being someone else altogether. Remember Edea?

The good points of the story - it pleases many Tidus x Yuna fans. Or at least, it should. But although I am a Tidus x Yuna supporter, I feel that Tidus' status should remain the same as it was when Final Fantasy X ended. What happens in Final Fantasy X-2 (if you get the correct percentage) is really unfounded and illogical.

This game is probably to show,in great detail, a normally unshown part of any movie, game, manga, story or anime - what happens after the bad guy is defeated.

Graphics

Graphically pleasing. There is no fault with the rendering, and the FMVs are even more beautiful than Final Fantasy X. This is one of the high points of this game. The "dress sphere" system also allowed the 3 main characters to model different costumes, which is good in theory, as it promotes variety. However, the magnitude of the costumes caused some of them to be unoriginal recolors of a main costume, such as the Gunner dressphere for Rikku and Paine. Also, the backgrounds for Final Fantasy X-2 were not very original. Most of the time, it was obvious "stone dungeons" or "Bevelle corridors" with plain, ever-repeating scenes. This really eroded the user experience, rather than enhanced it, because everytime I go into a new map, hoping to see an interesting new map to explore, I am greeted by a dull, tedious route I have already seen many times before. Not all the background renders were awful though - one more original map is the one of the last dungeon. Also, I thought the new Bevelle was really ugly and an eyesore.

Sound

Sound - horrible. The tracks seem to repeat infinitely, and I got extremely bored playing the game. You might be interested to know that Nobuo Uematsu did not do the soundtrack for Final Fantasy X-2. Some examples of the music would be - whenever LeBlanc and gang appears, there'll be a set track. Always. Everywhere, even after the most solemn scene. This really really irritates me, because that track does not fit into the mood of the scene. And also, not all maps have different music. Most of the time, when you go into the standard "stone dungeons" or "Bevelle corridors" which i mentioned above, the music would be the same. This, coupled with the fact that the composition is fairly bad, ensures that the player gets very bored while playing the game.

And about the voice -acting = the voice actor for Yuna is still bad. She tries, but I wince at her tries. Rikku and Paine fit fairly well though.

Fun

The game is based on missions. The player chooses the missions they want from a list and various scenes ensure. The game also has a percentage completion gauge - the ending you view depends on your score. There are 4 different endings. To get 100% , you must view all of the scenes available in the game(save some) and do certain actions. This is admittedly original, but it also forces you to play the game multiple times(if you don't use a walkthrough) in order to view the various endings. This results in a mind-numbing experience, coupled with the inane music, and I myself stopped playing at 97% because I was too bored to even want to continue.
One irritating thing about this game is that Yuna always refers to Tidus as "he" or "him". This is because we were able to rename Tidus in Final Fantasy X, so to maintain consistency, his official name is not mentioned. This active un-mention of his name might also be an attempt to not spoiler people who have no played Final Fantasy X, but I highly doubt it, since there are actual FMVs that show his face and anyone with eyes and a working memory would be able to connect the two together.

It is a good game, but is too oriented to replay value and that is not good for a RPG.

I think Final Fantasy X-2 is a great game! well, I did not like the story, but i like the battle system good ^-^.

you too? i think its the girls that make one want to play it :D the dress spheres are quite unique.. but would i would play it even if it featured the same sphere system like ffx

i think personaly that it was easy, i love the story line of it, favy part so far is when she gets mad because she doesnt know who Lenne is lol

i dont know what is up with the whole aeons coming back thing, or why everyone is so worried about it, i love the final fantasy series but come on now, this is about the most pridictable one they have made, and too many choices you have to make, if you dont make the right one, you have to start over

not good, but again, the game is easy and i got through it in like 15 hours, kinda short compaired to ffx (actualy not realy, got through x in like 9 hours, lol) i love the dress spheres but for the love of Final Fantasy i cant figure out how to use the special dress spheres! uggg, anyone know how??
