Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED tv Review

Cosmic Era 71. A war is under way between genetically enhanced Coordinators and unmodified Naturals. The Natural-dominated Earth Alliance, struggling to catch up with the Coordinators' superior technology, has secretly developed its own Gundam mobile suits at a neutral space colony. Through a twist of fate, a young Coordinator named Kira Yamato becomes the pilot of the Alliance's prototype Strike Gundam, and finds himself forced to fight his own people in order to protect his friends.

Story & Characters

Being the lastest series of the famous Gundam Franchise, the anime, Gundam Seed is made with the lastest animation techniques and technology, making it one of the best Gundam series ever made. As usual in all Gundam series, Mecha and serious drama play the main roles in this series(except for SD Gundam Force). Gundam Seed is based in the future, Cosmic Era (C.E) 71. It starts with a war between the Naturals (Earth Alliance) and the Coordinators (Zodiac Alliance Freedom Treaty AKA ZAFT). And a young coordinator teenager; Kira Yamato and his friends were caught in the middle of a major war in the Space Colony of Heliopolis. Forced by some unforseen circumstances, he became the pilot of the Earth's Aliance secret weapon; the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam. And as the battle ended in Heliopolis(or sad to say, destroyed), Kira finds himself working for the Earth Alliance's Archangel, and was forced to fight his own kind. I would give the story a 8 with their touching and excellent drama but a disappointing ending.

Art

Gundam Seed is one of the anime with the best visuals i've ever seen. The Gundams are drawn with very accurate details, from top to bottom. Even the model kits made and sold by Bandai are quite detailed (Such as my Master Grade 1/100 Freedom Gundam model kit i own, really impressed by the intricate details) And the characters are uniquely drawn. Using CG effects and advanced animation techniques, Gundam Seed shines out from the other Gundam Series, even though it is obvious that there are some scenes being recycled in the series. Hence, i would give the visuals a 9 for their great art and animation.

Sound

The Seiyuus for Gundam Seed from both the original and dubbed versions are quite good actors, making the characters in Gundam Seed come to life with their drama. And the opening music for vol. 1 of Gundam Seed; Invoke by T.M Revolution is quite a fast paced techno masterpiece. Although 'Invoke' is not only the best songs in Gundam Seed, 'Believe' and 'Realise' are quite worth considering too. And the ending song for Gundam Seed; 'Anna ni Issho Datta no ni' by See-Saw, goes along with the tragic nature of the series. Overall i would rate the audio presentation of Gundam Seed a 10 for their excellent songs and voice acts.

Presentation

Gundam Seed's originality is satisfactory, with most dramas not seen in many other animes. To me, its kind of like dumping every single drama you've seen in every anime into one. The drama is well-played and the characters progresses alot during the series. But what makes Gundam Seed alittle boring is the lack of humor. Some episodes did make me yawn. The only thing that makes Gundam Seed interesting is the exciting dramatic battles. Other then that, it can be quite boring. And at times, the series can get quite irritating with their constant flashbacks and some episodes are even dedicated to replaying the scenes in the previous episodes, making some episodes practically useless to watch if you're a regular to the series. Hence, for the presentation, i would give it a 7. Even though Gundam Seed serves has a really great addition to the Gundam Fanchise reinforced with the impressive visual art and animation, great music pieces and realistic drama done by very talented seiyuus, the series can get really boring at times.

The OP Invoke by TM Revolution, OP2 Moment by Vivian or Kazuma, ED Anna ni Issho Datta no ni by See-saw, ED2 River by Tatsuya Ishii & insert song Meteor by TM Revolution are my favorites. I highly recommend its Best Collection Soundtrack. When I bought that soundtrack, i havent even watch the gseed series yet & invoke is the only song i know; yet, I liked all the songs in it .
