Story & Characters
Amano Ginji and Midou Ban make an unlikely team of two retrieval agents operating under the name of
"Getbackers". Ginji and Ban are both exceptional in the fact that they are physically superior, both are from
a life based on survival. Ginji also has the ability to produce electricity at will, from his own body. Ban is
considered extremely dangerous by his opponents, an instinctive genius in a fight, he has the ability to purge his
opponents into hypnotic unreality through just eye contact.
while both have faced life on many terms and been through many things, the fact that they are together now is the most
important thing to them.
The retrieval agency is one with a hundred percent success with their missions. not quite so lucky with the money, Ban
and Ginji are almost perpetually Broke and in debt to Paul, the owner of a cafe called "Honky Tonk". the cafe
is where they stay and where most of their business is carried out.
one element that is central to the series is the large building at center of Tokyo . Called Mugenjou, the name
translates to Infinite Castle, the place where Ginji grew up. the structure is basically made of other buildings and
structures, that are all formed together now as a city within a city. a very strange and dangerous place, Mugenjou also
has a lot of secrets.
the series has a very colorful cast of characters. with good solidarity and consistency

Art
the drawing style is very "clean" and non impressionistic. there is a high level of detail and attention paid to the backgrounds, especially in some episodes inside Infinite Castle. the character design is very nice, it complements the characters very well. fight scenes are well done. the main point of the series is it's fight scenes, and although there isn't as much action as , say, DBZ, the fights feel intense, even during the dialogue moments because of the details.
the consistency is good throughout the series, unlike some other series where halfway through it starts getting sloppy.
take a look at the wallpapers in the gallery, characters get a 10/10 on coolness.
Rating:
Sound
the music and sound are pretty good, well matched to the themes and settings throughout the series. not much about the intro and ending themes, though.
although the themes are generally as light as the music, some of the jazz feel is really well placed. especially around paul and his cafe Honky Tonk.
it's common for characters to have their own themes, some themes are clearly associated with characters. i thought even Mugenjou's character had it's own theme
voice acting was done exceptionally well for Midou Ban(Canna Nobutoshi) and Amano Ginji( Morikubo Shoutarou) and the joker, Haruki Emishi(don't know who).

Presentation
the story is well thought up, and it's woven properly. some people have experienced series lag, which is when a long series has the story a little out of focus and not well synched over the entire series. even if you were to sit down and watch all the episodes together O_O, i doubt if you'll see any bad weaving in the story.
good humor, one of the few series that actually get you to laugh out. one of the very solid aspects is the characters. very indepth and cool characters. everyone who's seen it grabs onto different characters as thier favourites. a bit comparable to naruto on that.
i didn't find even one aspect or character of the series that "dragged" and/or was annoying. ginji reminds me
a bit of Vash from trigun. smiling to hide the pain, but very realistic it seems.
the fights are detailed, and if you happen to be perceptive, you'll notice some things. unlike Naruto or DBZ, not
everything is not explained in detail to the person you're fighting with. there is real life subtlety and it's fitted
together well. for example if you didn't notice certain things about Kurodo's body, or Ban's evil eye, then watch
closely, there is more than is said.
more obvious are ginji's abilities, and kazuki's skill.
not steeped in flashbacks, if you miss one flashback, you probably won't get that part of the story, or that particular incident.
although the story is quite complete, it leaves quite a bit of room for a sequel. not many loose ends to it, but a lot of material for a new story with the same characters.
