Plot Synopsis

Gon was just a boy who lived in a world where one of the most dangerous professions is a hunter. Many people aspire to be hunters but few are able to prevail over the numerous trials and ultimately succeed. During a chance encounter with a mysterious man Gon discovered that his father is one of the most exemplary hunters, with his fame and reputation spreading far and wide. Unfortunately, his father had abandoned him at an early age and his whereabouts remain unknown. The only clue he left behind is a picture and stories about his exploits. Thus begins Gon's quest to become a Hunter and ultimately, find his father. Along the perilous road he meets Leorio, a slacker with an inclination to medicine, Curapika, who is myterious and aloof, and a young boy of about his age, Killua, a member of an elite assassin family. Together, thay embark to face challenges to realize their shared dream of being a Hunter. What dangers lie ahead in this dangerous and cruel reality in which secrets are protected with lives, and dreams are the pathway to peril?

Story & Characters

Hunter X Hunter. how can i sum it up...?
its cool. its simple. its an easy anime to watch...
its fun. its different. its a bit dark. yet lighthearted.
to me, its like the usual anime that i watch.
its gripping when it needs to be and lighthearted and funny on toher occasions.
you have Gon, looking for his father. a touching story. and to do that, he has one lead.
His dad is Jin Freaks. and hunter. so he tries to become one.
on the way he meets a variety of characters.
and of course...he seems to be the 'special' one that the anime kind of focuses on.
then you got the cool, mysterious guy: killua (personal favourite)
and leorio & kurapica (the girlie looking boy..)
and then the story deepens still...with a deadly gang... (shizuke rules in that gang! the quiet deadly type..mwhahahaha)
i like this anime.
the second one i've watched..fully.
straight to end..including the OVAs..which there are a few...
the OVAs are an improvement in quality.
the story ends a bit lacking...but it ISN'T finished just like that.
if it follows on more from the manga, then there IS more...

Art

its simple and basic anime.
nothing special really.
not until you get into the really good parts of the story..much much later.
the nen (special powers) that they possess and then shape and form... now that kinda is cool and ..ummm...special.
but the scenery and way the world is imagined is original.
a new world with new lands and various dangers....
new things to look and revel at the creator of that particular scenes imagination..
the characters all generally carry the same kind of look. big eyes, simple hair etc.
arts not bad.
its fitting to the way the story's told...

Sound

okay, i watched the original non dubbed, subbed version...
first things first...
the opening theme tune.
i just love that tune. its so happy ...called 'ohayo'
its brings you nicely into the feel of the series. the first half of it anyway..
the tunes that go with the anime, fit to what the series is talking about at that point.
overall. i'd say that the sound was great. it fitted in to the moments.
the voices were childish as needed..
slightly exaggerated at some points..
but that was the funny moments.
can't really say much.
sometimes...gon got on my nerves a bit.
but that was his character,,, and i suppose the voice did bug me a while with it.
and hisoka..is a bit annoyin sometimes too...
the voice is too...i dunno. matches his character though i must say

Presentation

like is said.
this is NOT a complex anime to watch.
has all your factors needed to enjoy for a good half and hour per episode.
entertainment on the humour side. provided by the banter between the 4 main characters...
especially enjoyed the whole kurapica and leorio moment in their room...and the little i'm-better-than-you things between the characters too. just goofy sometimes.
um, next factor. originality of the storyline.
i'd say yes.
nen is a new thing to me.
they present it in differnt forms and new ways to use it.
differnt characters have different abilites and so have different usues and forms of the nen...
fun to watch.
action is there too.
sometimes the action scenes drag out a BIT too long..
but when the action is there..its sometimes worth waiting for, and other times its just pointless.
you know whats going to happen...
but don't let that put you off.
its a fun anime to watch and just laze around... its not suppiose to be deep and meaningful..its just a fun easy anime to watch,.
