Story & Playability
My friend and I had obtained this game recently, and were staring at the disk in its resplendence, the glory that was
Marvel VS Capcom 3.
Oh, wait- this segment's supposed to be about the GAME's story. Sorry to disappoint, but this game has
virtually no story whatsoever to talk about. Not even the surreal, obscure storylines that fighting games like Tekken or
KOF or Street fighter would have. The characters don't communicate with each other, they don't hold grudges,
they don't have any personal vendettas- they just fight; which in this case is ok; it's a fighter, and more to
the point, a crossover. That said, I would have liked to have seen a little more effort put into the story, such as a
little detail as to why the heroes were fighting against one another to get to the stupidly enormous end-boss, or even
why this boss wants to "destroy the earth" (why couldn't he just read a book instead?) but then again
this flaw is excuseable as crossover fighter games don't NEED a deep plotline.
Also the players (unless they are complete newbies) should already know the respective stories behind the characters, be
they marvel comics 1337s or capcom-ophiles or just casual gamers. The game's roster should have something for
everyone, with a list ranging from megaman to x men to devil may cry to spiderman. The character endings will also make
you smile as well.

Graphics
Ahhh, the colours, children. The graphics in Marvel x Capcom 3 are to die for, or people easily susceptible to seizures
actually might die from the flashiness. the first ten minutes of the gaming experience consisted of us screaming and
fawning over every minute detail of the game's landscape, character design, special moves and combos like a pack of
goth girls at a twilight convention. they were all so beautiful, our eyes couldn't tell exactly where to point
next.
Every character's special moves are so exquisite in their own way (e.g there are cherry blossom petals in
chun-li's 3rd special that add a bit of grace to it) The high def graphics are awesome too. Especially with the
winning sequences- like the little bit at the end of a fight when the winning character jumps around or cheers or
something- like super skrull's, where he "stomps on the screen," you can actually see the cracks and
think, "holy wow that looks real!" The comic book-like cel-shadedness of the whole affair gives it a
light-hearted or sometimes stark and brutal effect when the situation warrants it.
I like how all the characters-espescially the marvel ones- look better than their actual original counterparts. For
example, magneto and wolverine no longer look like transvestites in spandex tights; they look like characters you'd
actually like to play as. The only (minute) complaint I have is the one i raised in my No More Heroes Review, although i
guess it really isn't the game's fault. While i, like the next guy, love a busty girl in a game, somewhere it
gets to the point where it's ridiculous. "She-hulk?" why does Hulk look like a month-old dinner leftover
and She-hulk look like a green glamour model? Her voice also bespeaks of an attractive woman's while hulk sounds
like a 9 foot tall toddler. But don't get me wrong, i love the gals in this game, not to mention the other
character designs. The maps also have a lot of cameos and easter eggs to look for.

Sound
The sound throughout the game is noticeably another component that makes this game incredibly fun to play. The in-game
banter is hilarious (espescially Deadpool's) and agreeable; Even Spiderman, whose whiny voice i detested from the
live-action movies was a great character to listen to, with his one-liners and trash talking. Trish's dialogue-
well, actually just the sound of her voice- will make you weak at the knees. Deadpool's cheeky jokes will actually
make you snicker and crack up, unlike in X-men origins where they attempted to portray him as the cocky wise-cracker
he's supposed to be, and failed. Don't get me wrong, the movie itself was good, the acting just wasn't.
Anyhoo, back to topic. Just hearing the characters you know and love say what they say is just pure bliss. While the
dubbed voice-acting of (just a few) characters like Chun-li isn't great, it's tolerable and unlike some
english dubs does not make you want to drink turpentine or shoot yourself. The bgm is also fantastic, and perfectly fits
the mood of the game's many stages, like a fanfare for the more happy maps, and for the final stage, dark sombre
music telling you you're about to get crushed. MERCILESSLY.

Fun
oh me oh my, the colours. While the flashy, bright lights might be enough to kill an old person, the game is by far the
greatest marvel x capcom ever. The graphics are pimped up, the fighting engine, while a tiny bit confusing/ choppy, is
easy to pick up and learn and the banter and insults the characters throw around are hilarious. The character design is
simply, to put it in one word, HAWT. I love how Trish is beautiful and can open a can of whuparse on anybody. I love how
Deadpool jokingly struts/moonwalks across the locales, and says things you'll be repeating to anyone who'll
lsiten. There are a few issues with the dubbing (how can Felicia be so annoying in TWO languages?!) and lack of a
story-line, but those aren't what anyone really looks for in a FUN fighting game, that which Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is.
It's incredibly fun. Some people might argue that the lack of unlockables defeats the premise of actually playing
through everyone's arcade story, but you get a kick out of it nonetheless. you can play it over and over again with
friends or profane strangers online, like with tekken or soulcalibur, but here the tag team gameplay is (arguably) more
fun. You'll strive to learn flashy, gorgeous aerial moves and combos just for the sake of looking at them and
admiring them, and that in itself is a great reward. heed my words, children; Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is, to the words of
Rebecca Black (haha i'm so sorry) fun fun fun.
