Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 tv Review

Story & Characters

Such a wonderful story, I recommend it so much, it's shocking, and heart warming, you can see people very different among them, with something in common: trying to get back home, you see the kindness, bravery, bitterness, innocence, sadness it's full of surprises, I'll give you an advice, when you watch it don't try to make conclusions just let the story go, that way you can be even more surprised.

It's sad that at the beginning of the story, they explain you that they was waiting for something like this, but in 30 years, not two =( and of course, it's a drama story, but there're tender and happy moments too.

Spoiler (show)

even when they are just a few =(

Spoiler (show)

it's a good story because, sadly, it doesn't end with a complete happy ending, someone has to die so the family can get along again, it's so sad, but I guess that's what they call "a person's mission here on earth" when you accomplish your mission you have to go, but you leave something good with your existence, I cried A LOT when that person dies

Don't rate the story before you finish the anime, there are many things you can find, you'll be able to know the character better and prove that the story has a very realistic human feeling, it makes you feel that it is something that can happen any time in any place, and makes you want to see inside yourself, to check if everything is ok with ourselves and people around us, specially or friends and family.

Enjoy it while watching, not judge it but till the end, because everything changes in every episode

I really suggest you to give it a chance, because it is an anime with just a few episodes, episodes that are full of emotions, and makes you want to know what happen next to the little kids and the kind woman who are with them.

Rating: 10

Art

The art is simple, (when it comes to characters) but you don't notice that, because the story is strong.
the backgrounds are more detailed though, and they show us an exceptional destruction, reflecting even more the drama and the tragedy in the story. As well the youth of the main characters, that reflects the innocence, and childish behavior of them.
The Art remember me a little of azumanga, and as we know it's a comedy, so maybe many people could feel that ruins the mood in Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, but please don't think too much about the art, which is simple, but we have to see it together with the other elements such music, story, message.

Sound

It fitted perfect with each situation, I loved the music. Many times its music awakes feelings in the person who watches this anime, for example, if it's the 2nd time watching this anime, even if you're not watching, music hits you and makes you remember the strong moments, so that helps the story to stay with you forever. The voices were great, kind, bitter, playful, sad, desperate... and they were perfect for the age of the characters, not too old, not too young, but perfect.

[spoiler]the music in the scene when there are many images of yuuki, almost at the end, makes me cry so badly it was so sad I wasn't watching -the second time I watched it- but even so I could feel the sadness in that moment, how a good little boy had gone forever the sadness of the whole family, and the change was about to come in mirai's family and herself /spoiler]

Rating: 10

Presentation

you can feel the drama, pressure, bitterness, sadness, fear, of the characters, you know that all the story is about something serious, and the art, which some people call childish, is because is telling us a story where most of main characters are young: kids and teenagers. So it reflects every element perfectly.

Final Verdict

It's nice to see a review on this! I'd recommend for future reviews to work on providing a bit more detail with each section. Also, I'd recommend not scoring something so high just simply because you loved it. For myself, I see ten as "This is the best I have ever seen. Nothing, in all my years, comes even close to doing what this game/series/movie did in this section" so when I see so many tens, I tend to question the frame of mine the reviewer had when scoring the series. Especially when you score presentation so high, but don't really tell us too much as to why.

I apologize if this sounds very critical, I just want to offer some friendly pointers to help improve your review writing! I hope to see more from you!

yeah,i also think that series didnt gave you that much of this drama "feel" you are saying there...and it was a bit confusing somethimes as a series...no need to exagerate so much in this...it was good.but not THAT good...

I have to agree, I'm either too horrible of a rater or I just don't rate right, but rating a ten is probably too much but I do like the review. I've been hearing about this one, that it is an excellent one but I haven't been able to locate it. and I rather enjoy those sad endings, it brings us closer to the realization of reality sometimes, or gives us hope that we don't have it so bad :) have to admit it's an excellent review over all :)

I don´t think I was exaggerating, I think it was because It was a really good story for me, it´s always like this, every person has a very different opinion about something, Something that is excellent for us, it´s lame for others...

Something that I notice about my review is that I was being too repetitive...

    and don´t worry CyanideBlizzard, it´s ok :D

thank you for your opinions everyone :)
