Jing: King of Bandits manga Review
Story & Playability
There is no mainstory in the manga, but many little self-contained chapters.
The young guy Jing is the last descendant of a family of thiefs, who got named "King of Bandits" and who got
sayed, that they even possess the ability to steal the stars out of the sky . So the cheer- and thoughtful Jing traves
through his fanciful world, accompanied by his feathered fellow Kir. But the womanizing Kir isn't just a friend of
the King of Bandit. The crow or raven like bird is able to merge with Jings arm to become a powerful gun with a attack
named "Kir Royal!"
During their jorney, they visit different places, like the city of thiefes, a place inspired by the mystical tower of
babylon, adonis, a city build as a huge clock which is possessed by the time, the prison Seventh Heaven or the city of
Zaza with the famouse masquerade.
Every city contains it's own charme and it's own little problems.
The stories are about the things, Jing and Kir, steal and how these actions change the city or the hearts of the
inhabitants and especially the womans, who mostly, fall in love with the mysteriouse Jing.
The trademark of Jing is his yellow coat, a smirking cat with spiral eyes and his blade hidden inside the sleeves of his coat. He is one of the mysteriouse ones, talking as much as important but never suspend his opinion. We gain no knowledge about his age or his past. But sometimes it seems, that he travel, because he seeks for his mother. That's the reason why Kir always calls him a mommy-boy who nether cut the cord to her.
Kir is a kind of a bird. Something like a crow or a raven. He is bold and cheeky and really likes woman. Kir got him,
while he was still in his egg. But Kir hatched to save a girl he got befriend with. He often seems some kind of glitzy
but he would never abandom Jing.

Graphics
It was about seven years ago, when I ever bought my first manga named "King of Bandit Jing". When I recommend
this comic, I always accentuate about the style of art. It is absolutly impressing.
The style is a stickler for details, but it never exaggerated them. After all these years, when I look at the amazing
backgrounds and designs of the city, I find some little funny and sometimes new things, I've never seen before.
When it comes to backgrounds, Yuichi Kumakura, done a amazing work. It is very detailed. Every little city seems to have
their own kind of style and own little forms of physiks, holding the city together.
In the first season the characters looked quite simple. Not to much screentone, simple but creative clothes, and nice
stories. When the second season (Twilight Tales or in Germany King of Bandit Jing Bottle) starts, Jing grow older. At
the same time, the style of Yuichi Kumakuras Art, developed into a more matura kind.
While the style of the first season reminds us of a adventures and action series of a shonen-manga, the style of the
second season seems to carry the sometimes philosophical messages in quite a better way.

Sound
The sound of the anime adaption of King of Bandit Jing is really nice. The Band playing it, is Scudelia Electro.

Fun
I absolutly love the humor of this manga. It has it's own charme and its funny scence go hand in hand with some meaningful ones.
Also the whole scenery is really creative. Like I said in Story review, every city has its own physics. And so, the
whole King of Bandit Jing universe follow its own rules.
There are flying dragon-turtle-like creatures, or giant billiard bowls as hills. Then, in another story, Jings use a
dodo, used to drag a train, to flee out of a prison of dreams.
The artist creates new creatures and new kinds of ways, how things work.
I really recomend reading this comic!
