Casshern Sins tv Review

Story & Characters

Casshern Sins starts out with a lot of ambiguity and it is very dark in the beginning. Despite its dark nature it picks up very quickly and the story will suck you right in. It really is a tragic scenario, but through all of the turmoil you will see all of the characters grow and change. The show's theme is post-apocalyptic, which can normally be very unoriginal because most of it has already been done before, but not Casshern Sins! It truly hits the nail on the head by bringing new concepts and ideas in a totally different point of view. Most of the characters are robots whom once were immortal but now are faced with death. You see only a few humans throughout the show, which was quite interesting. The characters all have a deep sense of humanity because they DO have emotions, which is why it is very easy to relate with them and sympathize for them.

Some of the characters are a bit hard to understand because you are unsure of their motives, but by the end of the series it becomes quite clear who those characters really are and why they do/did the things they do/did.

I would highly recommend this show to anyone!!! The characters are great, and it is a very sad, yet touching story filled with a lot of action! :)

Art

First off, I LOVED the art in this anime!!! It was VERY unique and quite wonderful. The colors are all vibrant, and the style of art is in a league of its own. I have never seen anything that even resembled this before! :) It has a very sketchy look to it, which is a nice change from all of the smooth realistic styles that are popular right now.

I loved how the character's arms and legs are emphasized. You will notice that they all seem very lanky, I don't know if this is because they are supposed to be robots or if it is just meant to be that way for the heck of it. Whatever the reason is, I loved it! :) The eyes are always big and the hair is nice and chunky, which I thought fit well together.

Some of the perspectives used were very nice too. For example, when Casshern fights there are some really cool ways that they portray everything with closeups of his face and torso when he is punching etc. For some reason it really makes the fighting seem realistic and quite fascinating to watch.

Sound

I thought the sound quality was splendid! None of the music or background drowned out the dialogue and the music played was quite beautiful. Some of the music in this was quite inspiring. A few of the songs not only touched me personally, but really played a huge role in the shows entirety. Not much of the music is repeated except towards the end, which is nice in many ways because when you hear certain songs it will trigger scenes from previous episodes. (This really makes the show a lot more impacting too.)

I definitely think the Japanese voice actors did a wonderful job portraying each character! Casshern's voice was very attractive, and yet innocent at the same time, like a child trying to learn about the world. This really makes his character very appealing, which will cause the viewer to become quickly attached to him as a character.

Some of the sound effects were really cool too. Not only unique but also a nice change.

Presentation

I think most people would enjoy Casshern Sins. If you are not into dark apocalyptic animes that don't always have a 'happy ending' then this might not be the show for you. I say this because, yes, a lot of messed up and sad things do happen, but how these events influenced the characters is what made Casshern Sins so enjoyable. There are still light hearted parts of course, but keep in mind the bigger message of this story and it will mean 100 times more to you in the end. :)

To be frank, the plot of Casshern Sins didn't not impress that much, but I have to say it's a good remake. = )

I'm planning to write a Casshern review in the future, hope you don't mind if I use this as a basis.
