Fruits Basket tv,manga Review

Story & Playability

Anime and Manga have the same story, although the anime is really short compared to the manga. You can say that their stories are connected by fate. That everyone is destined to meet each other, which is hard for a manga this long, because you need to give evidence on every part on why it is related. The story using the 12 Chinese Zodiacs as a foundation is also a great idea, a hooking idea as i can see, and the blooming of feelings compliments all the developments. The sad parts can really make you all teary and comedy parts is really good as well. The revolutions of the story is just right for every character developments for the readers to understand the the points and flexes of the story.

Graphics

In the beginning of the manga you can see that mangaka is not quite used in drawing and you feel the oldish art style, but while the story progresses you can feel the transformation of the bishies (bishoujo and bishounen) having better features. Also what i can really notice in the art is the seamless depth of their eyes which made me loved the art, the eyes too deep to read matches a drama, the only not-so-creepy i know is that the use of the flashbacks in the old style arts, they didn't redraw them, in the latter parts you can really notice the old arts in the flashbacks, it's like evolution, a wonderful artistic evolution.

The anime have the mdoern type of art so as it may seem, it's all good. Seeing the manga move is like a dream come true and it's colored too. You will see the different colors of eyes and hair and the clothing they wear, it gives better understanding to the characters.

Sound

Anime's opening (For Fruits Basket) is really sad, sometimes just listening to it makes me remember what happened and it makes me cry. The sound increases the mood of the story, it makes the story more intense, more dramatic in a sense. The Ending song (Chiisa na Inori) may not quite be good for the ending, although you may feel it's emotions too.

The seiyuus (japanese voice actors) compliments with character attitudes and thus makes the character more effective.

The finale piano (Serenade) is really one of the best inserts, really good for the ending, and copes with the happenings in the story, it's like a hypnotism that gives you flashbacks while watching.

The music of the anime is like the mood generator, it set ups your feelings then while watching you will really feel all their emotions.

Fun

The use of the elements like transformations and legends is really cool, but what gave me a greater impact is the "bonds" and promises they hold for each other. The feelings they all keep inside. Also different character perspectives and attitudes like the almost-perfect character, the always-happy character, the uber-shy character and the klutzy main character, they all fit together, like a puzzle that's best when together. Also the inevitability of each characters being bound together.

Having all sorts and kinds of character is really good. The use of family problems and such, acceptance and rejections. reasoning and understanding of each characters. Although having too many characters can be quite confusing, since each and everyone of the characters have their own story development, the story is so long and sometimes can be quite boring if you read for too long.

Fruits basket also gives a considerable amount of laugh for those who watch/read, sentimental as it may seem it's good that way, all the flavors you like may be found in fruits basket. :)
