Kodomo no Jikan manga Review

Story & Playability

VOLUME 2 REVIEW.
DO NOT READ UNTIL YOU READ VOLUME 1, NOT VOLUME 1 REVIEW... VOLUME 1. CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR VOLUME 1
So... volume 2. This is the volume where everything you will love about the series is brought into full view. This volume is very much like the previous, but there are a few emotionally heavy chapters, one thats tells us the story of Rin and her gardian, Renji, who is introduced in this vol. I would like to note that Renji and Rin's relationship are the backbone for the story, so that makes this volume the most important, while vol. 1 introduced characters and thier quirks, this one gives the plot.
First of all, it still has a ton of lolicon styled fanservice which there is nothing wrong with a little, at least it isn't smut level.
This volume also is one to be careful with if you are very sensitive to stories about death, especially ones about lung cancer, or cancer in general. But I guess since you already read volume 1, (RIGHT!?!?!) you already know that there is going to be stories about Rin's dead mother, missing father, and the fact that her guardian is her cousin. Yep.
since the story is still developing, and still is keeping to its fanservice to much, (some chapters here and there are just excuses to see some charaters nude.) the story is not perfect, yet. It is a huge leap from the previous volume however...

CHARACTERS
In the previous volume, we really got to know Rin, but not much about her. This volume also starts the trend the manga follows in which the happy characters are only allowed to be grown in the sory though how we see them (Aoki, Hounin, Kagami) and depressed characters are given large back stories (Renji, Rin, Mimi) If you are a little b!tch, or you have sensative feelings, then Rin's/Renji's story (I put them together because it tells both of their stories, but from Renji's P.O.V.) will put you to tears.

Graphics

This volume seems to have quite a few quirks, more than the previous, but it still is very quality stuff.

The character designs that appear in these volumes are very toned down in the hair and faces, but are almost looney toon stylized in the... ehhem... netherregends..... Overly sized cameltoes (on Rin) constanly erect nipples visable through clouthes. it gets annoying, and takes all realism from the non-humorous/fanserviced sex. (Rin's moms rear look like bubbles when she is nude with renji. hahaha) This is a trend that slowly dissapears over time, and is completely destroyed late vol. 7. i can say by then, the art is perfect. for this volume's overuse of the wierd stylized sex organs, I give this one an average rating.

once again. Sahadou is kick ass as our translator. Sayo will continue to provide much neede help. There are never any typoes (like in most things like these) And the scans are top of the line, although Sahadou isn't the one who scans them, I'm not sure who it is, but i'll ask him and tell in the next review. Once again Sahadou (dot) com for the KNJ torrent. Yeah, you have to torrent to get the whole series now, the links keep getting deleted.

Fun

This volume is alot more mature than the prev... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HA AHAAAAAAA
sorry. no, this volume is still a wierd little.... thing...
it is no way as immature as the previous volume, but it is getting there. The art in the Rin/Renji backstory section is actually good and fits the story and the mood perfectly, but it is still early, and our author is still getting a feel for the characters, and being that this is her longest running series, this is the series she finnally finds her place, and therefore, the more you get in, the better. The better thing about it to, is that even though it matures so much, it still is enjoyable to go back and enjoy from the beginning with out any of that "Man, this was cooler long ago" like you do with some series like Dragon Ball Z or Naruto, both series with an awesome story going on right now, but a story that would be very strange to go back and try to re-read.
I'll be back with Volume 3's reviews, however, i expect you to haveread volume 2 by then. If you haven't read Volume 1 and you are reading right now. shame shame. you are going to die soon...
