Since the tender age of nine, Hayate Ayasaki has busted his behind at various part-time jobs to support his degenerate gambler parents. And how do they repay their son's selfless generosity? By selling his organs to the yakuza to cover their debts! But fate throws Hayate a bone...sort of.

Story & Characters

It's been a while since I written my last review :P

Characters Overview (There are alot of characters,I'll only do the recurring characters overview.) :

Hayate Ayasaki - The main character of the Anime.His parents are constantly loaning money from illegal organisations and throwing the debt on Hayate's arms.Because of this,Hayate took up all type of jobs and became adept in all sorts of chores.One day,he attempted to kidnap Nagi out of desperation as his parents left him with a very large debt this time but due to a sequence of events...he became her butler.His name literally means wind or something like that,a name his parents gave him so he can be as swift as the wind to run away from...loan sharks :P

Nagi Sanzenin - A rich girl from a rich mansion. (Yeah...lame intro.But calling it rich is an understatement.Their land properties are all over the place and they even own highways.) Either way,she mistook Hayate's words and actions when he says he "wanted and needed her." and thought it as a confession of love or something.After this event,Nagi got kidnapped by another group of people and Hayate,having a change of heart,saved her.This caused the complications to deepen of course... Nagi is also a video-game,Manga and Anime addict and hardly goes out and she sometimes even skip school but she got good grades,however.She is also of a very young age ('Round 14 or 15.) but she got to....High School?! (She skipped grades.)

Maria - Maria is Nagi's guardian and also the maid of the Sanzenin household.She is adept at housework and chores but she is incredibly afraid of cockroaches.She also dislike other people calling her older than her real age.She is also extremely mature and cares alot for Nagi.

Seishirou Klaus - The old and head butler of the Sanzenin household.He hardly appears but can still be considered a recurring character since he pops out once in a while.

Tama - A fully grown white tiger that resides in the Sanzenin household.Tama is brought up like a cat...so...I guess his tame to a certain extent. (Much to Hayate's disbelief.) Nagi found Tama when she was on a field trip,seeing that it is injured and hungry,she brought it back. (I wonder how did she manage to smuggle a tiger back to her country and house?) Either way,Tama occasionaly craves for Nagi's attention and finds Hayate a nuisance as Nagi seems to care more about Hayate than him. (Pointless jealousy.) Tama also can talk but this fact is only known by Hayate,the only person he ever talks to.

Sakuya Aizawa - Nagi's cousin and a somewhat annoying girl.She loves stand-up comedies and smacks Hayate with the typical folded paper used in stand-up comedies if he uses a pun poorly.

Isumi Saginomiya - A somewhat air headed girl who have the abilities of exorcism.She also have a horrible sense of direction as she got lost almost all the time.She also constantly wears a traditional Kimino and dislikes wearing normal clothes as she called them "flowery and embarassing." (Or something like that.)

Wataru Tachiban - Another kid whose engaged to Nagi by their parents.Though it's both against their very will as they pretty much hate each other to the very core.His family used to run a business but it went bankrupted so Wataru opened a VCD shop (Which seems to sell primarily Anime CDs.) He is also interested in Isumi.. Oh yeah,his goal in life is to secure a fortune of his own to exceed Nagi's. (It'll be practically impossible... 100000 yen is like nothing to her XD )

Saki Kijima - The Tachiban household's maid and also the guardian of Wataru.She is somewhat sisterly towards Wataru but this gets somewhat complicated at times.

Hinagiku Katsura - A girl whose the President of the Student Council and Captain of the Kendo Club of Hayate and Nagi's school.She met Hayate one day by accident and the two became friends shortly after that.However,Hinagiku slowly grew fond of Hayate,denying it initially but she later confirmed this factor on her own will.Hinagiku is also afraid of heights but she is still one of the most popular students in school.

Yukiji Katsura - The older sister of Hinagiku but she is very immature compared to her little sister.Yukiji is also the teacher of Hina's school.Yukiji is an alcoholic and does some pretty eccentric things for an adult at times.However,from the looks of things,Hina and Yukiji suffered a past similar to Hayate and they were ridden with debt once before but Yukiji worked hard to help Hina get out of this rough life cycle.But either way,she's a wasted drunkard now.

Ayumu Nishizawa - A typical girl who was Hayate's school mate (Probably classmate.) before Hayate became a butler and got transferred to Hina and Nagi's school.She secretly likes Hayate (This IS turning into a Harem.) but Hayate,shocked by this sudden confession,said no. (In a better way,that is.) Undettered,she still find ways to be with Hayate. Of course,this formed a certain complication between Nagi and Hina. Hina constrained her feelings as she doesn't want to hurt Ayumu and wants to help her , Nagi on the other hand simply hates Ayumu and calls her a hamster and Ayumu doesn't know about Hina's feelings and sees Nagi as a rival...A very...strange complication to have.

Overall :
I haven't seen the Manga version yet but I'm pretty sure the plot is different. Either way,this Anime is nice to watch at first but it gets pretty boring as it drags on.Well,if your the type who prefers a different story with each episode you would probably like this but the scheme is somewhat cartoonish with UFOs and all those what nots.Either way,overall,this Anime is extremely light-hearted but I didn't really like it...well I watched it untill Season 2 but I got really bored and I stopped watching it.The Anime also have alot of unneeded fan-service and content but I guess you might like it if your into fan-services but I never liked those sort of stuff :P Oh yeah,it is advisable that you watch alot of other Anime before this since there are puns and jokes that occasionaly requires knowledge of other Animes (Or even television shows and stuff like that...so I never got some of the jokes.) The words are also occasionaly censcored,for example,Nagi said that she is playing Crisis Core but about half of the words are eaten up by the censcorship.The pictures are also occasionaly "censcored." when a small...whatever you call that pops out with a signboard that blocks the view of the scene. (Well,it's not a proper censcorship system.It's more or less for a joke.)

Artwork Review :
The overall Artwork is good.But the designs are rather...boring.

Significant designs :

School Uniform of Nagi's school - I should say insignificant instead.The school uniform is bland and boring that's for sure.

Hayate Catgirl Cosplay - I was laughing alot at this.Hayate was occasionaly forced into a catgirl cosplay by Nagi and Maria and I have to admit,he DOES look like a girl.But either way,his forced into a blouse,cat ears and tails and forced to walk around in the Mansion for sometime with this on....Everyone,let's have a moment of silence and pay our respects to the death of Hayate's integrity and pride as a man.

Music Overview :
Overall,the openings are likeable.I prefer the 1st Opening. (The 1st Opening is called Hayate no Gotoku!)
I guess I can say I enjoyed the Anime's music to a certain extent but I am unable to get obsessed with it and all...

Voice Overview :
Ahh...yes...excellent voice actors for the Japanese dub.I'm not too sure about the English dub but I'm pretty sure some of the characters have a twinge of accent like German or English from what I heard.

Overall :
Well,this is a fairly enjoyable series but not enough to keep one plastered on the screen.It gets boring rather quickly if your not into it's content.Either way,there's no point repeating what I typed out in the Story section.

Trivia :
-There is a Nintendo DS game released for it.
-There is a Light Novel for it.
-This is adapted from the Manga but I haven't seen it yet.It'll probably be better than the Anime so I guess it's worth taking a look.
-There are two Seasons for this Anime.
-Apparently,accessories,mugs and various other minor objects are sold with the character's avatars on.
-There are soundtracks for it.
-Japanese name for Hayate the Combat Butler is Hayate no Gotoku.
