Story & Playability

Well...I'm not going to bother to make a Full Game Review of Disgaea since I did it on some other site a long time ago (But I'll still do slight coverages.) ...But I'm going to do the Tv and Manga version.The Manga and TV version is based off Disgaea : Hour of Darkness.

Terms Dictionary :

Overlord - A term for the Ruler of the Netherworld.

Netherworld - A hellish world where the story resides upon.

Prinny - A bunch of somewhat airhead penguins which are capable of speech.Their like the servants of the Netherworld.They are actually human souls who have been contained in these puppets for the misdeeds they have done in their past life and so they must gather a required amount of money to be free once more.

Characters Overview :

Laharl - The Heir to the Throne of the Overlord.He doesn't know about "love" , "friendship" and other factors he consider "disgusting".He have a somewhat arrogant attitude and likes to make people his servants.He may seem young but his actually very old.Depending on the depiction,Laharl is awoken in his coffin either by Etna or the angel,Flonne.When he realised that his old man is dead,he decides to take over his place but he must eliminate every single competetion first.

Etna - A skimpily dressed devil girl.She is one of the Overlord's servants and she awakened Laharl (But in the Anime it was Flonne who awakened him.) and told him that his father died 2 years ago and the Netherworld is in chaos.Despite the fact that she look like a loyal subject,she have a secret plan of her own but she did have a change of heart.Etna is also in charge of the Prinny Squad,whom she treated very abusively.She also look like a kid but...she's like...over 1000 years old?

Flonne - An angelic girl who descended from the Heavens to assassinate the Overlord,even though she is not willing to.She later found out that the Overlord is dead and was shocked that Laharl isn't reacting to this situation as she expected.Flonne,desperate to let Laharl see the meaning of "love" (Laharl is seriously annoyed about this term.) decides to join Laharl.Flonne is also somewhat air headed and this sort of characteristic of her doesn't come out too well with her good heart. (She's easy to manipulate,in short.)

Vyers - A charismatic (I'll take back what I said.) and some what narcistic demon of the Netherworld.He challenged Laharl to a duel but he lost terribly and is renamed Mid-Boss by Laharl.

Captain Gordon - A disgrace of humanity.His the 37th Defender of Earth and uses high tech equipments with a strong sense of justice but his dimmer than a light bulb that's about to blow.I seriously wondered what happened to humanity with such idiotic Captains in place.Either way,he tried to defeat the Overlord and stuff like that once in a while but Laharl flicked them off like a fly.

Jennifer - A skimpily dressed human who is the...err..side kick of our pathetic defender.Either way,Laharl grows pale and becomes sick in the stomach whenever he sees her. (He seems to dislike adults who wear skimpily.) She is skilled in terms of science.

Thursday - A multi-purpose robot made by Jennifer.Occasionaly turning into a cannon for the Defender's usage to blast the Overlord away...but they might as well use a toothpick against a dragon.

Krichevskoy - Well,a somewhat minor character.His the father of Laharl but since he snuffed it 2 years ago,his role in the story is small.However,from the looks of the flashbacks,his a somewhat eccentric man but he cares for his son deeply and is unlike most typical demons,very human-like to a certain extent.

Kurtis- A man who dislikes Gordon and wants to replace him.He became a cyborg due to a certain sequence of events.

Seraph Lamington - A Celestial being from the Heavens that Flonne looks up upon.However,it seems that Heaven is not as pure as they say.

Vulcanus - A Celestial being who holds extreme ideals and ambitions.Despite his angelic outer appearance,his not different from a demon.

Carter - An officer of Earth and father of Jennifer.His wish is to colonize the Netherworld or something...

Big Sis Prinny - A motherly figure to all the other Prinnies.

Hoggmeister - An Ex-Officer of the Overlord.However,after his death,he went to loot heaps of his gold and built a castle of his own.But retriubution is fast and swift that's for sure...

Porkmeister - What's up with the piggy names.Either way,his the son of Hoggmeister and he dislikes the fact that his father had changed in such a way that he is only obsessed with money and power.

Maderas - A vampire-like demon who used to work for the Overlord.For some reason,this guy acts like a pansy XD Either way,he threatens Etna to work for him by holding onto her lost memories.

Baal - A seriously...odd boss of the game.Baal was the previous Overlord before Laharl's father came into power by defeating and sealing him.

Story Overview / Summary / Overall :
This is pretty much a comedy storyline.Well,the Anime and Manga is not serious at all but the game itself can be pretty serious at times.The Endings of the Manga and Anime is based off the true ending of the game.In the Game there are multiple endings depending on the choices you made.

Graphics

Artwork Review :
Well,the artwork are pretty cartoonish in some sense.But it's likeable.

Significant Character Designs :

Laharl - Well,he doesn't wear anything on his torso but he wears a really large cape of which he can use for keeping his sword or grabbing things.(If he wants to,it can act as wings.) He uses a large sword for combat along with magic of course.

Etna - She's skimpily dressed in a black top and a black mini skirt with her devil-like tail poking out.

Prinny - They looks exactly like penguins with stitches around their white bellies and a small pouch they wear that stores the money they collected.There are variant colors of Prinny but a typical Prinny would be blue.

Sound

Music Review (Anime) :
Well...I like the Opening and Ending themes but I'm not utterly obssesed with it.So I guess it's somewhere there..?

Voice Review (Anime & Game ) :
Decent voices but I guess there are definitely room for improvements :D

Fun

Overall :
Well,the Anime and Manga isn't exactly action packed,it's more focused upon the humor and storyline content rather than the combat sequences that took place in the game.The entire plot is more or less a joke to be honest,except the few parts around the end.This is a very light-hearted plot and is probably not meant for those who are only interested in "serious" type of things.
