Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! manga Review

The Reborn! story revolves around a boy named Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada, who is chosen to become the Vongola Family's boss. Timoteo, a.k.a. "Vongola IX," the current head of the family, sends Reborn, an infant hitman from Italy, to train Tsuna. Tsuna unwillingly undergoes training with Reborn.

Tsuna goes through many predicaments as he progresses, including fighting escaped Mafia convicts, a rival group of Vongola assassins and rival mafia families. Through his experiences, Tsuna becomes stronger and more confident.

Story & Playability

Most of manga mafia stories are about the Japanese mafia: the yakuza. But this manga chose the mighty and fearful Italian mafia as its maintheme and embraced it with humor and magic only Japanese people know.
Sawada Tsunayoshi is the perfect loser but being the only possible heir to the mighty Vonghola family he has to learn many things and his spartan tutor, the baby Reborn doesn't give him too easy options. As the story goes on Tsuna gets a little family around him, close friends he never had before and when the first enemy came he has a reason to fight. But he has a very long road before him, especially since he doesn't want to be a mafia boss. But when he fights he puts his heart into it, so do his comrades.
His family members are:
Gokudera Hayato- a very short-tempered, intelligent, smokeaddict bomber who has deep scars. Gokudera is the child of the mafia and he loves Tsuna above everything. He is Tsuna's self-proclaimed right-hand man.
Yamamoto Takeshi is a baseball player. Very friendly and a bit dumb. He belives or acts like he belives that all the mafia things are a game Tsuna and the others are playing. However he is one of the strongest in Tsuna's family. He is a swordsman.
Sasagawa Ryohei - he is a very enthusiastic boxer. He is the brother of Tsuna's love Kyoko. He is really dumb which causes a lot of argument with Gokudera who has no patiance for dumbness.
Hibari Kyouya - well, he is hard to describe. Hibari is the chairman of the Disciplinary Comittee in the school and he takjes his role more than seriously. His fragile, japanese doll like looks are the opposites of his personality. He hates crowds and he is merciless and cruel. Hibari is very bloodthirsty, and very dangerous and feral. Nothing can stop him. Even though he belongs to Tsuna's family he always goes on his own way.
Lambo - Lambo is a little child in cowdress from the Bovino family. He is noisy and annoying. But he has a very interesting bazooka which will cause many problems in the story.

Spoiler (show)

Rokudo Mukuro - he is the living nightmare, the monster under your bed. He's seen the hell and came back from it to turn every mafiosos life into it. He hates the mafia because of his childhood. He is Tsuna's first enemy who ends up in one team with the boy however he never gave up his original goals.

The KHR is one of the most popular manga of the last few years which made its way into the japanese top 10 yearly sales for over 6 years now.
The mangaka had to find a new theme since pirates, deathgods, ninjas, samurais were engaged. And she find a theme which is interesting and exciting enough.
This manga is very good even though the first seven volumes are mostly humurous and funny but with the first enemy, Mukuro it becomes serious and bloody. I like it very much. I hope the mangaka won't mess it up.

Graphics

The manga's art is very beautiful. Well, this is something you have to expect from a woman mangaka I think. The boys are very handsome and the girsl are cute. I like that she used the colours of the rainbow which makes it colourful without using too flashy clothes or haircolors.
The clotheing and the environment suits the manga perfectly.

It's a pity that the anime art is a simplified variation of the manga.

Sound

I really like the opening and endingsongs but what I like the most are the seiyuus: especially the soundactors of Xanxus, Squalo and Mukuro. Every voice suits the character as far as I've seen and this makes me very happy. Because most of the time I watch anime to hear the characters speak and see them move.

Fun

I think KHR is a very enjoyable and interesting manga with loads of fanservice. I can suggest it to everyone for watching.

Totally agree! KHR is one of the most enjoyable manga that exists in the earth! And your description of the main characters its absolutely awsome. Anime serie is far worse than the manga, that is true but is good enough if KHR anime is the first thing you watch instead of the manga. However, i prefer anime art than manga art.

Very nice review. It's a pity that i knew KHR before read it. Had i read it before, i would have check KHR manga for sure ^^

Nice review... just a few spelling mistakes like 'looser' and 'exiting' instead of 'loser' and 'exciting'
Btw... thanks to this review, I got to read what would become my favorite manga

About the art: I disagree there. Though it is mostly brilliant, but during fight scenes, it gets very messy and you've to actually decipher what exactly is happening. (I am talking about the manga)
