Plot Synopsis

No plot synopsis or other information available for Full Metal Panic!

Story & Characters

The story for Full Metal Panic! is an interesting, but only above average story. In the beginning we are introduced to t a Gung-ho ex-soldier teen named Sousuke working for a secret organization called Mithril. Mithril has dispatced Sousuke to protect a mysterious "Whispered," who we learn to be Kaname. Through out the story, Sousuke must adapt and live a daily life as he protects Kaname. as the story progresses, Sousuke is met by several enemies, including his old nemesis thought to be dead, Gauron. That is pretty much the bulk of the story. This story line has been used by different types of anime, which sort of let's FMP! fall behind a little in originality in the story department. They also leave something's left untold, such as more information on the "Whispered," and an abrupt ending. But that is probably due to the upcoming seasons. Even so this review is based solely on this season, so that is what I will be reviewing. Still, even with it's loss of originality, it does not mean that it is no captivating. This story, even though overused, is still interesting to watch. What makes up for this, as we will later see, is the presentation of it.

Art

The art is excellent, as can be expected by the great Gonzo studio. The art is clear, crisp, and detailed. The color was great, and the backgrounds were well done. The animation is successful in giving a sort of dark feeling to the atmosphere. FMP is definitely pretty to look at. Gonzo is pretty well know for mixing up CG into it's animation. Even though at times it may seem sort of cheesy, for the most part, Gonzo does well in integrating the CG into the animation fluidly. The animation flow smoothly into capturing the details of an action scene. The art, altogether, is outstanding.

Sound

The sound for FMP! is also appealing. The musical score fits the mood of the situation, from a similar, if not exact, song coming straight from the A-team for the intro, to dramatic music during intense scenes. The music overall fits well. Judging by the dub, since I haven't seen the anime with the original voices, the dub is excellent as well. It's one of the best dubs I have heard in awhile. Each voice goes well with each character, and they are very accurate in interpreting the character's personality. From the gruff voice of Gauron, to the monotone voice of Sousuke, to the optmistic voice of Kurtz, all is interepreted very well by the dub actors/actresses.

Presentation

As I stated before, this is what makes up for the average story of FMP!. The presentation. This anime altogther gives a lot of enjoyment to watching it. The character's are all great, and every character is endearing. FMP! does a very good job in mixing in comedic humor with lots of action, even with a little romance and drama sprinkled in. It is hilarious to see Sousuke antics as he tries to live out everyday life as a normal person. The romance between Sousuke and Kaname is nice to see progress as Kaname slowly admires Sousuke. There is also a hint of romance with Melissa Mao and Kurtz which is also nice. There is enough mecha and gun action to give satisfaction to most action buffs. The characters are all great in fitting each of their roles. This show is one of those shows that is able to mix in a blend of different types of genre and all bring them together into one fine piece of work. This results in attracting fans of all different types of anime. With all of these incorporated, this is made to be an all around great anime, which i wholly recommend.

ah, i'm really sorry about that. this is my first time reviewing so please bear with me. i really appreciate the critiquing. anything to help me improve. ^_^

i've read the review, but i think votes are too high. indeed full metal panic is a good anime series, but lack of a lot o features to justify tha votes. For example sounds are good, but 9 is too high as vote...

Nothing is too high for FMP

*picks up double SMGs*
