Prince of Tennis

Prince of Tennis tv,manga Review

Prince of Tennis takes place in modern Tokyo, following the journey of tennis prodigy Ryoma Echizen. Ryoma enrolls in Seishun Gakuen (Seishun Academy), Seigaku for short, a school famous for its strong tennis club and talented players.
Because of his cool and apathetic attitude, upperclassmen challenge him to matches. However, Ryoma had won the American junior tennis championship four times in a row, and easily defeated the upperclassmen.

Making new friends and learning new tennis tactics, Ryoma and the Seigaku tennis club strive to win the All-Japan Junior High Tennis Team Championship!

Based on the synopsis by niomea.

Story & Playability

prince of tennis is a show about tennis but not just any player who plays tennis. it is a genius and a young pro at work to be come the next person to defeat all opponents in the world and that person is ryoma echizen in the school called seigaku or seishun gakuen

ryoma echizen is in year 1 in japan school terms....his height is 151cm and he is a left and a right hander.
he can do techniques like twist serve, drive a,drive b, drive c,drive d,cyclone smash and many more... he can do any techinique by looking and examining a player using the technique.his father is a famous professional tennis player who retired really early but otherwise he could have been the number one pro tennis player in the world.echizen is the only 1st year regular player in Seigaku, since he short compared to the other members, he's been nicknamed O'Chibi and chibi-suke.his favourtie phrase is mada mada dane[you are not yet there or you still have alot more to learn]

tezuka is the team captain.he makes people run laps and laps.. and made momoshiro and echizen to run a 100 laps... that ALOT!he is year 3 and his height is 179 cm. he is a left hander and his favourtie quote is "20 laps. go now!".he's well respected by all the teammates and also by the players in other top tennis schools. Tezuka also made it into the regulars as a freshmen, now he's in his third year and is about to graduate. Tezuka sees great potential in Echizen and taught Echizen the meaning of playing tennis by having a match with Echizen despite his arm injury. Even though Tezuka never smiles, he appears to be extremely popular among the female fans.his techiques are drop shot and tezuka zone

oishi was the captain when tezuka wasn't around[he left to germany]he is in year 3 and his height is 175cm.he is a right hander and his techniques are the moon volley.Oishi is a really kind person who cares about all the other team members twice as much as a regular team member (according to Fuji). Oishi is a Tezuka's close friend and is the vice captain of Seigaku. He plays doubles with Eiji, together, the two of them are known as the undefeated golden pair who went to the nationals.

fuji is also another genius in the regulars. he is in year 3 and he is 167cm tall.he is a right hander and he has his 4 counters[spoiler]it is in the manga currently....the 4th counter out...He's extremely famous among all the tennis players in the region. Fuji's skill is right behind Tezuka's. He also has a brother who goes to a different tennis school, mainly because he didn't want to be compared to his big brother - Fuji, who's already known as the tensai player at Seigaku. Fuji is always smiling no matter in what situation, this gives him a really friendly appearance, although in fact, Fuji is a deadly strong tennis player that most Junior high players should pray to never meet in the court.

kikimaru eiji is in the golden pair with oishi.he is in year 3 and he is 171 cm tall.he is a right hander and his technique is arcobatic play.his fav qoutes are hoi hoi, nya. Eiji is perhaps the most popular character in this anime. He's well known for his acrobatic play, together with Oishi, they are known as Seigaku's golden pair. Eiji has a big teddy bear at home and when it falls, it's always towards left. Eiji was able to use this as a game strategy with Oishi in one game. Eiji has a terrific personality although he loves to tease others as well, this got Oishi, who is a really sensitive person really mad in one occasion and caused the biggest crisis of Seigaku - the breaking up of the golden pair.

there are other regulars like kaidoh who is famous for is boomrang snake
momoshiro who is famous for is dunk smash
inui who is famous for all his analysis
and takashi who is famous for his burning serve.

there are 9 regulars in the seigaku tennis team.

overall the main story plot is easy to figure out and that it is filled with suspence[the climax can go really high!],action[with all the techiniques they use], humour when it is the chibi eps[i just LOVE THEM!] it is really nice, funny and they look freeking CUTE!

Graphics

the artwork in the anime is nicely done. the colour fits the characters and the colours are bright and lively unlike does which are abit dull and the artwork look old. the manga is in black and white. the drawings are FANASTIC. it really brings the story out from the page! it is fanastic. and it is very detailed. for the fan book. the colours are abit dull like those old artworks. it looks horrible on the characters but it is better than others that i have seen. overall on the artwork. it is good enough that it brings the story out! it is a MUST read MANGA!

Sound

the voice for the japanese version is good. it suits the characters. but for the chinese version i think it is alittle weird as i guess the voices are a little to high or too low. so the best is in the japanese version but if you dont like the jap version,my suggestion for you is READ THE MANGA! IT IS MUCH BETTER!

One of the first things I notice when I read a review is the writer's ability to control the English language. That is something you did not do a good job of at all. Proper capitilization and punctuation is missing. Your thoughts are extremely disjointed. And your ability to actually portray an accurate description of the show is lacking severely. 2 or 3 poorly written sentences, followed by a score does not help me at all if I were making a decision from your review to try something out. Honestly it looks as if you threw this together in 5 minutes and called it a review. Lot's of work to do.

ok... i bear that in mind for the next review i write
if there is a next review....

Besides the extensive amout of l33t you used, it was an okay review. If I enjoyed sports manga at all, I might've checked it out, but the closest 'sports' manga I read is Hikaru no Go... xD That's like saying chess is a sport. Which it toally is! xD

  19. sangel99 Jul 31, 2006
